I was teenager 1970s when I first heard this very very elegant, nice song. Am 71 now, Jan 13, 2023 TH-cam let my ears rang upon hearing this again, pierced derp into my heart!!!!
Unbelievable, really! Quite beautiful. He's got a little more rasp in his voice than when he was younger, but that's just added character IMO. He's also singing it a little lower in pitch, I believe - either harmonizing with the original vocal line, or maybe the whole band is in a different key. Either way, it sounds fantastic.
This is what separates the music of yesterday from today...the fact you can tell.what a song is just from intro and how it's a story not just singing. One of my top 3 fav songs
Oui, nous avons eu cette chance, de connaître les belles mélodies des années 60... Tous mes voeux pour cette nouvelle année. Jean Louis de Béthune (62)
My dad would have been 67 this year, he passed away unexpectedly when he was 64 from a heart attack. There isn’t a moment in my life that I don’t think about him and miss him deeply. He was my inspiration for life. One of my fondest memories of my dad is riding around with him in his 1983 Ford F-150, listening to “oldies” songs on the radio station. This song and “Never my love - The Association” are songs that I use as time traveling machines, which allows me to go back in time and visit with my dad. ☺️🥺😞🥺 My grief never goes away, I live a life of melancholy, disguised by a mask of a happy and loving husband/father/man.

Somehow we remember the best in life. And this is one of the most amazing things. Glad you are inspired by him and are still playing. The world lost a great. But how utterly privileged we are to see him as if he were still here. There must be one heck of a concert up in Heaven.
👏 Gary’s like a fine wine 🍷 or cognac - gets better with age! I’m 70ish now and this ageless song has been a favorite of mine since it was 1st released. Hearing/watching THIS performance with Gary, the orchestra, outdoor Denmark venue, etc. is absolutely beautiful and perfection in every aspect. With each year that passes I seem to appreciate its rather ambiguous lyrics MORE. RIP 🪦 Gary ☮️ ✝️ 💟 - his 😇 voice and music will live on forever - at least in me it will!
