Understanding everything in this video takes so much prerequisite knowledge. In spite of this difficulty, it is quite enjoyable to listen to and keep on thinking about the concepts explained. Thank you Dr. Ahmad for making these videos for us. May Allah SWT increase you in your wealth, both spiritual and material. Ameen.
5:33 Yes. I see this in my own life, my distorted view of the world as I was growing up. I see it now in others. But the philosophy self-destructs for the man who cant make it work. As CS Lewis observed, he Devil has to walk a fine line: if he pushes to0 hard he may precipitate a religious conversion, as happened in my case.
The "interferences" mentioned at the end of the video could also allude to the "alien" phenomena which officially started to be noticed after WWII, and which have increased in frequency up until now.
This was my first Guenon book, and I was so inspired I went on to read most of his oeuvre. He sometimes uses terms that are not clear, or at least I find difficult to get a clear conception of. For instance, he sometimes uses the word "subtle" as in the "subtle world," which he usually contrasts with the corporeal. I assume the "subtle" is something like the physic. But he also uses terms like "infra-human," something even lower than the corporeal plane, although it seems the corporeal plane on accounts of its "density" is the lowest. Is infra-human different from subtle? Is supra-formal akin to Plato's eidos? Do these terms have a correspondence in Islamic theology? But I enjoy these videos, and always looks forward to watching them.
Dr. Ahmad, Guenon speaks of so called "de facto materialism," an idea that very much makes sense to me as someone living in America and even being a part of a religious community where we struggle to apprehend the transcendent in a world that presents itself as profane. What advice do you have for someone who does want to apprehend the transcendent, to move beyond "the illusion of ordinary life," and yet struggles with a nagging sense of implicit materialism. How can we train ourselves to move beyond the profane messaging of the modern world? Practical advice is appreciated. Thank you for your work and may God bless you.
Besides the 5 daily prayers, one must perform the night prayer (tahjjud) and maintain a serious practice of dhikr. You must cultivate the attitude that none but Allah provides your sustenance and it is only Him that is both the true efficient cause of all things as well as their teleological end until you truly KNOW it. However, if you are not a Muslim, then I would invite you to consider Islam. I do not think that any of the other faiths have a metaphysical teaching or contemplative methods that compare with those of Islam. However, having considered Islam, if you decide that you do not wish to become a Muslim then you must rely on the spiritual resources of your own tradition.
Hi, Dr. Ahmad, i´m working in my degree thesis on Guenon´s metaphysics (advaita vedanta and ortodoxy), what do you think of professor Mark Sedwick opinion of traditionalism? Thank you for the support with your work, greetings from Mexico.
Hello. It is very nice to hear from you and I wish you every success with your work. Sedgewick's works are interesting but I do not find them to be very profound. His Against the Modern World, is mainly an historical account and I am not too interested in history. As for his Traditionalism: The Radical Project for Restoring Sacred Order, I started reading it but mainly because I have extensively read the originals (i.e. works by Guenon, Evola, Schuon) it was not very useful for me. I really have no interest in his opinion of Traditionalism, whatever it might be, or for that matter the opinion of anyone else regarding traditionalism. I read the sources myself and arrive at my own conclusions.
Thanks so much for this series. There is nothing else like it on TH-cam or elsewhere...

Assalam Alaykum. I believe you that the said karamat occurred, ya Shaykh. May Allah bless you and sustain you. Ameen.

interesting
Not really necessary to mock Hitchens et al (although I could not supress a smile)
