Ibn al Arabi is probably one of the most Influential and the most misunderstood scholar in the history. The Fatwa which this gentleman played is not a new one. There similar fatwas came from Salafi scholars like Ibn e Taymiyyah who also declared Ibn al Arabi as a heretic. The fact of the matter is the concept of Wahdat al Wajud is not for ordinary people nor it is a new concept . When a believer becomes closer to Allah (SWT) , he experiences things differently what a normal believer does. For example, when we see sky we see blue sky and our sight is limited by the physical barriers. But if a mystic like Ibn al Arabi sees sky he won't see the sky only but also the heavens and the angels because viels from his vision have been lifted. Sometimes, Sufis try to explain such experiences in their words and in their writings which may not be relevant for ordinary people. The Wahdat al Wajud basically explains the existence of creation in comparison with the existence of Almighty Allah. According to Wahdat al Wajud the existence of creation is ephemeral and limited whereas the existence of Almighty is immortal and unlimited. Therefore, the existence of creation is not worthy of recognition. Mathematically, 1+0=1 . So Wahdat al Wajud is not against Tawhid. It just reinforces Tawhid. Ibn al Arabi is not the sole supporter of the concept of Wahdat al. Wajud but there's are numerous other Sufi scholars what hold this concept like Al Ghazali, Jalal ud din Al Rumi, Sheikh Abdul Qadir al Jilani who are considered as the best. So if Wahdat al Wajud is the problem then why only Ibn al Arabi has been accused of heresy? We should refrain from calling one as kafir especially when we don't understand his concept completely.

Very interesting themes brought up in Sayyad Rizvi's presentation. New to this subject of discussion but very keen to know more. Trying to catch some of the important names of researchers on this subject that Sayyad discusses. However, even with slow motion and transliteration on, couldn't quite capture the names.
It will most helpful, if you can guide on those names such as, what I think Rizvi mentioned, Sayyid Yadallah Yazda Pinar and Hassan Yavadul...not sure.
