I bought my first psp second hand (1000)when I was seventeen. I loved that thing so much. I lived off the grid at the time and I used that thing way more than what I think most other people did. I definitely used mine much more than the only other two people I knew my age whom had one. Despite loving that thing so much, I had so may issues with stick drift of that thing, and I did pull it apart and replace the actual component but it didn't fix it. Apparently the stick issues were fixed in the 3000 and Go models. I just bought a PSP Go last week about fifteen years later after owning my original. I no longer own my original, I gave it away as a gift to a dear friend back in the day. Holy shit, now I've got the Go, I can't believe how awesome the psp actually is. I've forgotten. It blows my mind how beyond its time it was, even in emulation. I am loving this thing just like fifteen years ago. In my opinion you've only got two things to consider compact form factor or not? If you need that compactness and are willing to pay for it like I was, get a psp GO. If you don't need that, then fuck the psp, and get a Vita instead. Psp 3000 if you're on a budget. Personally I wouldn't get a 1000 or 2000 because Sony didn't fix their stick drift issues until afterward. I only say that, having owned two 1000s that suffered the same issue, had the components replaced and continued to experience the same problem.
Same story here. I'm 37 and had All the psp s . Had Issues with 1000 2000 and 3000. But I never had any issues with the PSP GO. I still play the PSP GO without any issues :)
I love my Go, used it only this week on an 8 hour train journey, completed MGS1 and loved it, even upgraded the battery to 3700mah last forever, plus go has Bluetooth, use it for music and movies to, will never be without it
I have all the psp models except the street one. I love this system. I got one for Christmas back in 2009 when I was 10 and I’ve been playing them since. Still have my original psp and still works great
Yeah but there are PSP games that doesn't had digital download so if you want to play all of them you had to just stick with the original UMD versions of the system.
I have 2 PSP go black & white and chose to get a psp 3000 over a vita in 2024. I have no connections to vita, I play psp games for nostalgic purpose doesn’t hit the same on the vita
I remember me and my brother always fighting over this bad boy one of the psps but all i remember is actcidentlg breaking the back part for the game cd like i remember tht til this day 😂😅
@@Baja340ben You would have to remove the front faceplate. TH-cam it, it's not too difficult and you can then see if the button is getting stuck on something
I have a modded Vita 1000 so there's no point in going back to the traditional PSP (1000 broke years ago and I kind of want to replace the shell of my 3000 because I still feel bad about abusing it lol) but I kind am interested in the GO Is it worth getting one at all for the increased portability, and are the buttons clicky because I don't like the PSP's buttons now after using the Vita
the buttons on the GO feel more like the vita's buttons than the PSP ones. I like the GO a lot for portability and it's still a great emulation device.
Nowadays I feel the best choices are either a PS Vita or a PSP Go unless you really care for playing UMDs which given It was bad back then And it's even worse now I don't know why you would want to go through those load times and hearing the disk drives trying to unalive themselves while reading discs I personally enjoy collecting PSP games but play them digitally through PSP Go or Vita
I found my old psp 3000 in a drawer and was able to replace the battery charger av cables and get an sd card adapter for about $25. Currently modding it. I’d be lying if I said the aesthetic and form factor of the go didn’t make me 🍆. I lost most of my retro stuff in a move a few years ago so having both a psp and a new 3ds is a nice thing to have.
Sony released better PS2 ports of PSP games, why play the inferior versions with less controls when I can just emulate Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters PS2, GTA Vice City Stories PS2, San Andreas Stories (mod), GTA 3 Liberty City Stories PS2, Twisted Metal Head On Extra Twisted Edition, Wipeout Pure and Persona 3 Portable? Playing on the original hardware is only good for sentimental nostalgia. With emulation you get RetroAchievements. Also HD remasters make PSP versions pointless, why play Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep when Birth By Sleep Final Mix is playable on the Deck? You can even emulate the superior PS3 remaster of Ghost of Sparta and Chains of Olympus on Deck with trophies.
that's the thing I don't want to play them on a steam deck I don't want to play them on such a large device. The PSP size is perfect and that's the method I would prefer to play them. Everyone will have their own options which is great, but not everyone wants to play these on a PC or a large handheld like the steamdeck.
Most people who play portable games want those game to be portable, not gigantic like on Steam Deck. If it doesn't fit the pocket then it's not portable. Luckily the Switch Lite is portable.
You’re missing the point. Not everybody wants to play games on a steamdeck. There’s nothing better than playing on original hardware and actually owning physical games.

Yes the PSP Go is really great for bluetooth stuff too! MGS1 is a banger by the way! Just finished it myself not too long ago again

Very cool!
Honestly yea the vita is better but I love the pspgo it's so portable and with the umd disc being so expensive why bother with it
Vita is good, but I prefer PSP games on the PSP hardware

I don't think vita is better, it has barely any games and the PSP ones look bad on it.

I have all three and enjoy them all :). Lucked out and picked them up a few years ago on eBay for really good prices.
Before the dark times of resellers! As did I!
Yeah! Prices for any of these handhelds are insane, especially for good condition examples.

Oh yeah I can imagine many broken UMD slots on PSPs lol
I think my disk drive is broken on my PSP 3000.
Bc whenever i move it, the home screen pops up. Im not sure whats up with it
Check the PS button. That can stick and cause that to happen if the home screen pops up even when you don't press the PS button
@ how?

Psp go has laminated screen with better contrast, and it is more compact, but Locoroco is really plays better on 3000

If only the portal was more like either of these and not absolute garbage
Portal is a streaming tablet not a handheld console, Sony doesn't want you to get away from their overpriced PS5s with no games
