In my experience, the IPS screen on the PSP 1000 doesn't have any noticeable ghosting at all. It's wildly better than every stock PSP 1000 and even 2000 screen. General image quality is similar to or better than the 3K but without the weird subpixel layout. That being said, there are late models of the 1k that also have a screen equivalent to the PSP 2000 too.
Great video, so glad this got recommended! Honestly makes me feel super fortunate about my 3004, practically pristine. Got a replacement battery door and ostent battery, piano black with no flaking and great screen. i was contemplating a clear ali express shell but this video has persuaded me to keep my console oem, gonna do my best to preserve my psp 😊 Thanks again for the super indepth video, legendary contribution to the psp scene!!
I got recommended your video from TH-cam. A big, BIG fan of the PSP (I currently own a 1000 and a 3000). I primarily play on the 1000 because I like how chonky it is and I put in an IPS screen. I must agree with you, it is an upgrade, but it's not so massive that it's incredible. Also, I looked at my 3000 and, wouldn't you know it? I found the beginnings of a spicy pillow. So, thanks for showing up in my feed! Lol My replacement 3000 battery should be arriving soon. Lol I too am sad that the Mega Man Legends/Rock Man Dash dual pack never released in the west. I keep hoping someone will fan translate them, and I keep on waiting. Great video. You're spot on about replacement parts. Once you start, it's downhill from there.
I enjoyed my PSP slim and lite for 4 years during the mainstream days. I love it that I don’t notice any ghosting or any defects as long as I love playing it. Still in use this time by my daughter hehe.
@25:00 LMFAOOOOOOOOOO!! caught me off guard there. Great guide man! Now which battery should I replace my totally legitimate 3600MAH light as a feather battery with?
I'm very happy to have found your channel I think I'll watch the video about Nintendo ds/3ds after this comment. Just a thing I didn't understand is how can I spot a reshell psp. P.s.(p): I'd like to watch a repair video
$100 USD for a psp? Could get a vita for a bit more in my country ($110-$130). Even importing psps from japan would be better, especially for limited editions, and in better condition as well. Edit: Nevermind, got to part of video of you talking about the Japanese psp and humid conditions affecting sealed psps. That sucks. Are you sure it wasn't a one off?
Current prices are pretty wild yeah. Even vitas are way more expensive than they should be. Which is why I try to detail all the issues when I make these vids. TH-cam coverage of retro consoles tend to be very shill focused and don't tell you what you need to know imo. Humidity yellows pretty much every LCD screen of that generation. The DS and 3DS have it way worse and changing the screens out on those is a genuine undertaking. Vita 2k's have it as well. The real issue with buying a sealed/CIB psp is the 98% chance that the battery has destroyed the console.
@@RetroGeartown Hmm... I'm after the monster hunter limited edition ones and the sites in Japan have better prices on eBay but idk. The pics show it working so it should be ok?
@@RetroGeartown Also what do you mean about "shilled focused" TH-camrs. If you're talking about emulation handhelds there's only one I can think of who is very blatant, everyone else seems the have the normal bias, imo
@@plumcakey Ty, i think you're right. Mint green is really cool and the ad was saying it works fine the only flaw is the analogic which is yellowed but i'll try to clean it when it'll be in my hands cause sometimes is just dirt not aging. Which model do you have?

Great video, why not make videos about custom firmware and how to get emulators on psp
my black psp is starting to flake i may try clear nail polish before its too late. Maybe i could try sanding so that its uniform.
25:08 fucking agreed. I repaired my n2ds xl top screen; and i never, ever want to do it again highkey

Lol lucky. I recently buy a psp2000 mint green + charger for almost $30 but i dont know if i made a good deal or not I'm starting to regret it
