    I have this mutation. Homozygous slow maoa variant. I grew up in an unstable environment, so I'm not really surprised I inherited this from both my parents. I was raised to be a doormat, and ended up becoming a very timid and shy person who had to spend years working on my issues (still am) in order to find my voice.

    Many errors:
    -claims men have 2 copies
    -claims "the story of MAOA" began with Brunner syndrome
    -claims 60% have MAOA-L
    -claims environment & "agency" prevent genetic determinism from MAOA

      Thank you for that.
      As MAOA is on the X chromosome and men only have one X chromosome.. they only have 1 MAOA gene..
      Females having 2 X chromosomes have two MA0A genes.. and only one of them needs to be functional for it to work properly.

    You cannot blame only genes for human behavior. Nothing is „black or white“ and scientific diagnosis must be flexible. …unfortunately it isn’t, what makes scientific methodologies very „narrow minded“.

    • @nurrizqyuzain9488
      @nurrizqyuzain9488 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Did you actually watch the video from start to finish or at least understand it with an open mind without any uninformed presumption nor prejudice about scientific methodologies being "narrow minded"? It says roughly around these timestamps 3:19-3:28 that 6 out of 10 people has lower MAOA but not 6 out of 10 people commit crimes... she also said "even if you do have this gene, it doesn't mean you will commit a crime because genetics doesnt work like that".What you said is true, figuring things out should not be looked at from one perpective... But the video doesnt do that..

  • @beckymorrow4209

    SInce this gene is on the X chromosome, and males only have one X chromosome, they should be more affected (females will likely have a "normal" copy that will allow for normal amounts of dopamine to be produced). The video didn't mention this and stated that we "all" have two copies!

    I think our justice system should just be built around the idea that no one really has free will at base level in what kind of person they become or what choices they make and we should strive to view and treat everyone with compassion.

    Some studies show that abusive child hoods can impair gene expression. Is what I heard which means little Johnny’s trauma can reflect in his gene

    • @ShinGarugamesh
      @ShinGarugamesh ปีที่แล้ว +1

      that still means that on average, if you analyze pound for pound (abusive childhood per abusive childhood crosschecked among races), you'll still find a loosely equal difference distributed by the genes.
      infact it may even be the case that what you've said is making the MAOA gene even more important. maybe dads with the aggression gene are more likely to abuse their children. and we know statistically every race favors same-race relationships.
      so imagine three generation of people with aggression genes would me much more likely to present a bad family environment compared to any one generation analysis (even of the same race).
      if you think about it - that may very well be a big explainer for how cultures evolve over time. everyone around you with a statistical skew is very slightly pushing those around them towards a direction. this gets amplified over time, and over large communities and social circles.
      in short, yes, i'm saying gang violence being idolized by black americans is actually in part explained by the warrior gene. that only seems more intuitive if you consider the point about childhood trauma. you may think it's racist - but the africans who migrated in Sweden and now are third generation immigrants (meaning they themselves are NOT immigrant), are the ones with the highest participation rate of gangs and also crime statistics.
      that means they are natives of the nation and there is still an insane statistical correlation between gangs and people of african and arabian origins. gang violence actually WENT UP compared to when the big immigration wave first settled in there. And today the social safety net in Sweden is much better than it was in the 90's. That's why Sweden is a really good point of analysis (and why now US democrats have stopped talking about it after the recent issues they have been facing)
      That's also why Sweden has seen the most sudden and critical u-turn from socialism to fascism. they became a literal warzone and had to stop pretending it was going good. this is why truth matters, and why talking about things matters.

    This train of thought again? Why not skip all the steps and get to the point of making humans, and assuring our track record on 'making' things I'm sure those humans will have no problems at all. Or we can help those who need help without trying to 'fix' them.

    Given modern environments, I think I got both variations; as an opportunistic warrior, and rational pragmatic worrier. Had experiences in both planned violence (offensive retribution) and reactive violence (defensive). Haven't reached murder yet, simply because the effort to get-away with it is more complex nowadays. And consequences not rewarding to the risks taken. Cutting it here, since getting bored explaining lengthily. But you get the point. :)
