  • The question I get asked in comments over and over during these Florida boat shows is "where are the every-man boats?" This video shows three sub-100k 24 to 25' center consoles with offerings from Carolina Skiff, Bayliner and Yamaha.
    Let me know which you would pick and why.

    The concern with wet slipping a jet propelled boat is that the drive system consists of an impeller reliant on a smooth flow of water through the intake grate beneath the boat. With the inevitable build up of growth below the waterline it can impact the functionality of the jet pump system. Short term or intermittent wet slipping for a few days at a time is not terribly problematic.
    Among the benefits of this propulsion system, and this boat, is the fact that these twin Yamaha engines provide 180 hp each, and as a direct drive system with no gearing, belts, water pumps, etc., it is virtually maintenance free with the exception of yearly oil changes. Additionally, the ability to move through skinny water and glide over sandbars is unmatched to any vessel with a protruding drive. I'd be happy to answer any questions your viewers have regarding these vessels.

      Completely agree about all the pluses of a Yamaha which also includes low fuel consumption, Leon(really enjoy your channel btw). One big minus, especially in Fla. is the floating & slightly submerged weeds will get into the intake. Yes it does have an easily accessible clean out, but you may have to do it several times during a trip certain times of the year which is a big PITA. I do respectfully disagree with John’s pick. IMO Bayliners are crap. Luckily I’ve never owned one, but I have used them many times. Fit & finish is awful, the ride is horrible as is their comfort. I’d buy a used (yeah I know just like cars now) boat over a new Bayliner. Now I have teens so I own a wakeboard boat which makes all the boats shown look like a bargain LOL. Can’t wait until I can get another fishing boat.

      @@fierceflyer5 good point. Here on Long Island, NY waterways I have had an occasional event where I needed to pull some sea grass out of the clean out port after experiencing cavitation. In 9 seasons with this boat I may have had to do it 3-5 times. Only took a minute and we were off, that being said ingestion in dirty water is a concern.

      @@fierceflyer5 I don’t disagree with you on the fit and finish of Bayliners. Historically though, their trophy series has always been built a little bit better. This one actually has a very aggressive dead rise. Time will tell how well these last.

    Dont know why Seapro was not in the boat show. I got a 2022 seapro 239 DLX fully loaded for fishing. Extra rod holders 2 12” simrads even taco outriggers with a suk 300 and paid 100k including the trailer. You cant beat that for a small boat. Im super happy with the purchase.

      @duffmeister3373 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unless they made major design improvements, I wouldn’t touch a Trophy boat. Fish boxes and bait wells that don’t drain directly out, are a big problem, batteries and electrics have to be in a dry area, pumps, switches and fuses have to be easily accessible. On the water the ride has to be dry. In my opinion most boats that look sharp with lots of bling ( which makes them more expensive ) lack in functionality .

    I got on the Yamaha 255 in the CT boat show back in Feb and being 6'3" at 290 lbs, I found it to cramped. Especially between the helm seat and steering wheel. I was sad about that, because it is a very nice boat.

      @Jigging Jerks crazy !! I traded in my 198cc for the 220cc in Feb 2021. Got the boat and venture trailer for 70k. Last year that same dealer told me he was running out of boats and sold the same model for 110k each then resorted to selling pontoon boats to people boating the G S B. .. thus year he's making deals again tho, so he must have ordered and received a bunch of models.

      @@jiggingjerks WHAT?!?! That’s insane. We bought used but it’s in immaculate condition with low hours and paid 70k fully loaded, generator, radar twin simrads. Boat weighs 13k loaded think we’ll get away with a trolling motor? The rodon we’d have to use because the shaft length but other people say we can use a trolling motor. I want your opinion because your boat is longer but I know we’re heavier and it’s really all about the weight you’re trying to hold still.
