Im an Akainu fan for sure but saying hes just “doing is job” is really ignorant considering he disobeyed direct orders and murdered a ship full of innocent people. His justification was that if someone on the ship was not innocent the operation of destroying Ohara and all the innocent lives would be in “vain”. Which isnt necessarily bad but he participated in the operation in the first place which makes him still a dick. Also attempting to murder Koby (not even for Mutiny) is messed up.

And in Akainus mind letting one foe go is worse than killing a bunch of innocents. That is his philosophy of ultimate justice. It isnt a respected philosophy nowadays in our world butmit is a philosophy with good intentions. In the end he wants to protect the people, serve justice to those who deserve it and keep the peace in this world. So you can say he is an antagonist because you dont like his way to reach this goal. Bit he is no villaim because most of the times he is on the side of the innocent people and against evil pirates. The whole ohara thing was a wrong and bad order he got but in the war he did great to kill some criminals and dangers to the marine.

Although this is my assumption (and we won't know until One Piece ends) the World Govt is made on a dark history filled with murders and countless sacrifices. Im an Akainu fan for sure but saying hes just “doing is job” is really ignorant considering he disobeyed direct orders and murdered a ship full of innocent people. His justification was that if someone on the ship was not innocent the operation of destroying Ohara and all the innocent lives would be in “vain”. Which isnt necessarily bad but he participated in the operation in the first place which makes him still a dick. Also attempting to murder Koby (not even for Mutiny) is messed up.
