I believe our Founding Fathers had a very different belief of the limitations of government. Our problem is indeed our government; but as you said it CAN BE replaced.
The root of the problem, however, is our culture. What we have been conditioned to believe is the type of human being is an acceptable and recommended as an American role model.
Our nation has gone mad. Everything's been turned upside down, in a manner of speaking. Before long there will not be any alternative except to replace our government. Jeffersonian Politics seem the best to me. The politicians in Washington, DC are totally useless and out of touch with reality.

I knew a woman who used to work for Monsanto. She said they absolutely not one bit of food made by their company in their dining hall. All 100% organic healthy foods. THAT speaks volumes!

We almost never have any chemical cleaners in our house. We don't use self-care products with chemicals and we try to get more organic and stay away from prepackaged foods.
We do not want to spend our money to poison ourselves or the environment!

Everyday is a chance to 'vote' using your dollars, the choice is yours. That is why I stopped 'funding' hollyweird and 'sports figures' by throwing out my TV and not participating in going to movies, concerts and sporting events......they can get "Rich and Famous" by others but not by me! What I don't grow myself I buy locally.

I completely agree, Woody, but what about the 'contracts' that government gives of our money when we don't agree with it? Public school lunches are not organic and gmo free--and all of the students who have free or reduced lunch are just happy to not be hungry. You're right though, we have to do something about it!
The hardest part is avoiding GMO, its the corn, its all corn syrup, which is ALL produced food (almost). Companies are also not following label laws regarding GMO and are not being held responsible either. Kiss your Doritos goodbye(and all other processed food as well)

Sad thing is, it doesn't say on your food package it has GMO's in it, doesn't say it was grown on chemicals Indian farmers (in desperation) use to commit suicide with. The general audience can't see, sniff how bad things are.

Thank you for this message. Personally, I would prefer to stop bowing before the altar of the Dept. of Motor Vehicles....a "driver" is carrying goods, passengers for fare, fee, profit. How is the common man or woman that's taking his or her family to church involved in commercial activity, exactly? Interstate commerce? Something to think about.
I totally agree with you Woody, but what happens when the companies (and government) hide the facts from the consumer? For example you do not know, and can not tell, which products are or contain GMO. There is no requirement to disclose that; and they don't. Similarly, the public backlash against halal certification, just resulted in the removal of the the halal certification information from labels in Australia, Many companies refuse to tell you if they their products are halal certified, even when you call and ask them ... to me that means 'yes'! How can you effectively direct your buying power when both governments and companies are so underhanded and dishonest?
There are apps you can download on your phone, point at the bar code of any product and all of the info comes up. The 'goodguide' is one. There are others.

Its all nice words but here is a simple question : where can I buy a non GMO tomato's in London for example ?
I often travel all over Europe and from Spain to Croatia tomato's are all the same (tasteless and plastic) . Apparently producers are limited to the EU certified seed distributers . Even the so called organic vegetables are all from the same seed but maybe no pesticides. And I'm old enough to remember the good old taste of a real natural tomato

Scary how long a tomato will stay fresh in a refrigerator, they just don't seem to go off. I have stopped eating them now

how do you avoid gmo food if you cant figure if it contains any ?
They don't tell you. But, if it is non GMO it will say on the package. Whole Foods, but you have to read "all" of the ingredients. Corn & soy are all genetically modified. Hamburgers at fast food have aborted fetal tissue for flavor enhancers, same with Pepsi. If a package says organic it is still GMO but with out round up, so they say, they still lie on packages, that's why knowing your ingredients is imperative.

He makes good points, but this Libertarian stance doesn't actually fix anything. Corporations will always find a way to take advantage of the public when restrictions aren't enforced. China is a great example of this - the United States may be "broken", but it's a lot better than a lot of other countries all over the world. If a corporation notices that people aren't buying their "GMO" product, that corporation will just buy the "non-GMO" label, figure out how to make the product cheaper, lobby government to have them say it's the same thing, and market it as better than the original. When all they actually did was essentially just got people to buy their original product with the new "non-GMO" label.

Christian Ewing Indeed. Human fallibility for one. And in regards to what I think you said about testing GMOs, yes and no. It was just an example, and you have to have two genetic strands to compare. In a hundreds year time, I doubt any public produce will have the same genetic makeup, and it will be hard to find contrasting samples.

Woody Harrelson talks about wanting to “never use trees to make paper because it’s just a barbaric way to make it.” He does own a eco-friendly home in Maui however, it requires him to fly to the mainland several times a year for work along with climate activism events he attends. While at the Cannes Film Festival in 2008, he had left his vegan belt and shoes back home. So he had them flown from France to California.

Great message in support of our free market system. Keep in mind, however, GMOs prevent the starvation mentioned, and have not been found to harm anyone despite the hype against them. We've been GMOing since man came on the scene and nothing we eat isn't genetically modified.
