Tanzania’s Dar es Salaam port registers increased shipments

Rapid growth in Tanzania's manufacturing, mining, and agricultural sectors is driving up shipments at the country's main Port of Dar es Salaam. Port authorities say the volume of cargo grew by more than a million tonnes in the first quarter of the financial year.

what are the factors contributing to this port's shipment congestion? is it because of the establishment of East african community, which would permit people from member countries to access these ports with equal import tax like TZ citizens? or is it because businesses linked to Mombasa are alienating/shifting to this port?
