I had a friend whose great aunt would make ham and corn dumplings. They were probably like those but just using the broth after boiling the ham. They were so very good. I grew up with ham and regular dumplings.

I haven’t had the good corn meal that I get from Georgia since I’ve not been south due to COVID-19. My grandma and mom loved to make corn dumpling with mustards and turnips and early spring and fall we’d plant mustards and turnips and that would fill me up. I love chicken and dumplings as well.I never had collards with dumplings or cabbages. Thank you I will try this again unfortunately I live in Connecticut and this time year I didn’t plant any here so I will have to buy some. I miss field peas and snaps and good cornbread and raw onions. I don’t eat pork but I use beef bacon and turkey bacon and you can’t tell the difference.
