This OST is from the Korean TV Drama Series (21 episodes) "Mr. Sunshine", (2018), which chronicles the struggle of the Korean people trying to maintain independence during the early 1900's against the intrusions of Japan, China, Russia, and the USA. The Koreans failed. The drama is among the very best K dramas. World class cinematography, acting, writing, and character development. Winner of multiple awards. The OST'S are wonderful. My favorites are "Sori" by Lee Suhyun of AKMU, and "Good Day" by MeloMance. All of the singers are prestigious S. Korean artists.
I absolutely LOVE this song! I hope you watch the show, Mr. Sunshine. As everyone has indicated - the acting, the writing, the storytelling, the OST, the CINEMATOGRAPHY - everything in this show is just top notch. Not to mention, it's achingly beautiful but gut-wrenching to watch. I had to look up some Korean history 1st, but well-worth the effort. You will NOT be disappointed.
One of the best dramas ever made , Mr Sunshine. The little boy at the beginning escapes war to go to the US, then as an adult returns as a US soldier .
Thank you for your reaction. Today is the day Korea became independent from Japan.(National Liberation Day of Korea? 8.15) This TV show and Park Hyo-shin's song '그 날' is about Korea's independence.
Fil, such an emotional song. So well delivered, Park Hyo Shin is a beautiful artist. As Edwin Starr sang, 'War, what is good for, absolutely nothing'. #QcumberSquad #ParkHyoShin - Fil, I'm off back to the study.
This song does not talk about a romantic relationship(love). In fact, the song talks about Joseon (formerly Korea) and the lives of Joseon people that they sacrificed in the war for their homeland... Even if the coming of tomorrow seems impossible, every sunshine has hope even at its end (so the meaning behind “That Day” is The day Korea becomes independent (in drama events).
One of the most beautifully filmed series and OST's. Park Hyo Shin's songs are not all about love relationships although it sounds like it is. it is more than that. It is about struggles. His lyrics are always ambigious and difficult to decipher but is always bigger than just a relationship - especially his recent work.
This is from a Korean drama called Mr. Sunshine. It's a war drama, so not happy. It's one of PYS's prettiest songs ever. The song WAS written for the drama, which I haven't seen. I think, and I do mean think, their country is at war and they are on opposite sides by conviction. I want to see it, but I'm a bunch of dramas behind. AND, my daughter just came into my bedroom and announced that she is positive for covid. She and her sister saw Taylor Swift a few days ago, so I'm not too surprised. Keep safe out there.

You should see the official video for this song. Even more dramatic than this, with impeccable timing between the audio and the visuals.
It was for the Show Mr. Sunshine. It was brutal!! It is a hard show to watch. But I loved it.
Every 'you's in this song is actually a metaphor of independence from Imperialism of other countries.
