Ah, Avi strikes again. His bass is amazing but his upper register is just hauntingly beautiful. If you haven’t already had it suggested, you should check out their original song “Standing By.” Avi is the lead vocalist throughout and it’s just stunning

I watched it within 30 seconds last night, but by the time I tried to comment it had gone. I'll try to remember what I said...
First, bless your heart because you had such an emotional reaction to this! I love your new rule of watching a video twice, but I had to smile when you were going to interrupt a lot on the second viewing for commenting, but you were still too caught up in it to stop watching. And you were so annoyed when your doorbell rang! It was hilarious, a much needed giggle during such an emotional reaction.

Yes, it turns out that Kevin is a tenor & once he joined PTX he practiced singing more to get from better than average to very good like the others so that he could be more versatile when a song didn't need beatboxing the entire time. So after a bit of time the group started having bits where Kevin was singing not just blended in the background with others but also solo parts too like in this song. He continued working on his skills & can go even higher while still keeping excellent control now too, as seen in the end of their Amazing Grace.
That's why they are great and achieved greatness, Attention to everything and everyone.
I really enjoyed watching your reaction to this! It hits me hard in my heart each time I hear it, which is probably up in the hundreds by now!! Big fan of the new format! There are so many songs that Pentatonix makes holy, sacred even, and this is one of the best, along with Hallelujah, Mary did you know?, The First Noel, Amazing Grace, and actually, many more. In each of these, I can't help tearing up, no matter how many times I have heard it. It's all about the human voice connecting to the highest and best of human emotions. Enjoyed your reaction. This was recorded in Avi's last year with the band, and I don't believe his solo schtick will ever achieve the heights of greatness he achieved with Pentatonix in that year.

I wish Avi the best and much success. I think he is only just beginning his solo career. He is immensely talented and I think we will see great things from him and the other members of Pentatonix.
You are very disrespectful and uniformed about Avi Kaplan and his sister and what they did for Pentatonix for years. He is a singer-songwriter, always has been since the age of 14, and he is literally not concerned about fame and $$$ as much as he is about creating music as a composer. If you are uniformed as to why he left then you really need to catch up. It was not to be a solo artist which he could do as the others were doing while remaining a member of Pentatonix.
Avi left due to touring burnout in September 2017 which is a significant problem throughout the industry. Here is the whole story.

Avi's sister Esther started as their required chaperone when they were first on the Sing-Off and joined them a bit later remaining as their tour manager after Avi left leaving only when she decided to start her family and did not wish to be pregnant on a tour bus in 2019. Oh and the not so subtle antisemitic comment using Yiddish isn't on!

Regarding the silence that you experienced...trying to imagine what that song says, if taken to reality, is complex. Our minds can barely perceive it because we have lived, as humans, in such a different way for so very long even though the best parts of ourselves thirst for peace.

Well, you said there would be interruptions - you just didn't say they would not be from you. Of course I understand why you couldn't interrupt the video 2nd time through. It takes a few listenings to find the thoughts submerged beneath the emotions with this one. I don't think I've ever seen a video so simply but completely deliver the message of a song. Amazing as I find Pentatonix every time, this is the one that I think of as a visual and vocal conceptual masterpiece.
Heavy semantic load, Simplicity in deliver, Genius both musicality and videography.

A wonderful classic song from John Lennon with a great message modernized by Pentatonix as only they can.
This may be one of the most important videos of this century. To most Pentaholics this is just preaching to the choir, but I am still glad they did it.
PTX not only delivered a great message, they live it everyday. They are a great example of what respect and inclusiveness can do.

When you get down to it, Pentatonix is a wonderful inclusive band, and yet that isn't the way it was planned. But they are very conscious of it. For example, they have been picketed by anti-gay activists, but on the flip side, the model of acceptance and love that Mitch and Scott have from their parents has given hope and enhanced understanding to other families with similar circumstances.
