A lot of people don't know this but the McLaren V8 is actually a Nissan design. Nissan's R390 GT1 Le Mans entry in 1997 had a twin-turbo 3.5 liter aluminum V8 the VRH35. The McLaren V8 is based on. McLaren chose the VRH35 for the basis of its engine program and bought the rights to it from TWR. McLaren named it the M838T and it was first in the MP4-12C in 2011. Just an interesting fact.
