Thank you so much. I was really stuck, and all the other TH-cam videos were for electricians who electricsplained. They were not for the common man with little electric installation experience. Your video saved me. Once you explained how to find the switch lead all I had to do was strip the light wires (No ceiling rose) and follow your re-wire instructions. I just did the same using plastic connectors in place of the ceiling rose. Job Done

Another informative video. I know these sorts of DIY vids have been done to death on other channels, but I like yours because there's no fancy sfx, loud music, annoying overdubs and other distractions. You keep it nice and simple, and that's all I want. Thank you again.

I'm mostly competent with Electrics but always struggle with Switches. This is the simplest explanation on YT that I've found to date and I now understand it fully. I haven't checked if you've done a two way yet but that would be epic if you could. Top work.

Very helpful. I bought a plastic e27 ceiling rose but it has no choc boxes and only two wire entry points - positive and negative. So I assume positive goes to the central part of the e27 screw in fitting and the negative to the back section. As it's plastic there isn't any earthing connector and no wires. So can I buy lighting cable without earth included?probably only need about 50mm - or do I just use some from the old ceiling rose by shortening the drop? I'll keep it incase I want to swap it over!

  • @manithaariyathilaka5182

I have learnt so much from your videos so thank you so much. I needed to change one of my ceiling roses and I watched this video and felt confidant in doing it. However, when I removed the cover the light fitting only have one line coming in to it. There is not line going out (loop out) from the circuit and it could be perhaps this is the end of the line in the radial circuit. Thing I don’t understand is , it doesn’t appear to have a connection from the switch. (Can’t see a switch live) . Anyone know what’s going on here?

Hi fantastic video, very easy to follow, but I have a question, I have the same set up in my lighting as you show on your video, but I would like to add another light over the other side of the room from the same circuit, but I cannot get access to the cealing rose of the existing light, to take a spure of to the other light, but I do have access to the existing cable in the ceiling from the light switch, so can I break into the switch wire and using just the switched live cable, cut that and connect onto that making a loop, so the circuit will then run from one side of the cut switch cable, down the new cable to the new pendant, then back down the other side of the new cable re connecting to the other cut side of the switched live, I think a drawing would probably help show what I mean a bit clearer, as what I have said might not make sence, any advice would be great, cheer stu

If I want bedside lights and a wall light in a bedroom, do I loop in and out of these like you say with the roses, room to room. Or do I spur off from the rose in the bedroom to both bedside lights and wall light. Hope this makes sense to you.

    Hi fellow Norfolk boy!
I'm looking to add additional lighting to my garage. 2 topics here.
1st,I want to add a 2nd switch to the front of the garage. Would it be easier to wire the 2nd switch into existing switch by the back door and run the 3 core and earth along the length of the garage or would it be possible to wire it into the final lighting assembly close to the front of the garage?
2nd, I kinda expect it'll be easier for me to wire up roses to carry power from one light unit to the next.
