    I use the Yannie method, rose water and vitamin E oil. Fill the bottle half with rose water and half with vitamin E oil. In the winter I add black jamaican castor oil to it as well. Also, I usually add some lavender, patchouli or sage to that mixture. Hope this helps as well. 🦋

    • @nasyaw
      @nasyaw 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@profe929 my opinion is not to use a dryer. You can put on a wave cap or a shower cap and let the heat from your head do it. You don't want to bake it in and please don't wash out the treatment. The oils need to stay until your next wash. No need to go to a store and get a bunch of products. All that the lady is saying you can make at home. TH-cam it. You will be so surprised how easy and less expensive it is.

    Thanks for this! I have dyed and bleached locs. I make a spray mix of aloe, distilled water, rosemary and lavender essential oils, and a tiny bit of avocado oil. Then, I seal with Apricot oil mixed with a few essential oils. I wash weekly, and clarify and do steam treatments at least monthly. Drinking enough water helps very much as well.

    I love rose water...and I have castor, Grapeseed oil and essential oils (lavender, rosemary and lemon grass) on my scalp directly...then run it through my hair (on wash days...which can be 3 weeks in between)... But I do rinse my hair when I shower if I do it in the morning instead of at night so I don't have a wet bed head.

    • @nasyaw
      @nasyaw 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Also when washing your hair and or retwisting let it air dry instead of a dryer. You must put a loc sock on your hair at night. The natural heat from your head will moisturize your hair. Also be careful of the shampoo your using on your hair. It can dry it out. Be mindful of what you use to retwist. Anything that has alcohol in it will dry your hair out. You can retwist with rose water and oil.

    My locs are dry due to coloring them. I don't tie them up at night due to migraines so I have used a satin pillowcase and have no problem with breakage. I also swear by Design essentials aloe/peppermint scalp tonic, due to my very sensitive scalp. I RINSE my hair whenever it needs it. I fight dryness by using aloe vera juice, spray leave in conditioner, and a light essential oil ( I love almond oil)! When i rinse/wash my locs i squeeze the water out and let them air dry until the next day, I never apply anything until they are fully dry because my hair holds water. After my locs are dry i lightly spritz the ends with leave in conditioner and apply oil, this keeps me from over doing it because if I apply too much oil and it gets on my scalp, it itches like crazy!

    I've been using aloe vera, almond oil and avocado oil and I co-wash 2t times a month. Shampoo drys my scalp out more. I want to know what I can you to help my locs be softer. Would a hot oil treatment be good for Puerto Rican Hair 🤷🏻‍♀️

    DKM with the raw patios. 🤣🤣.
    But real talk though, I can't seem to find the right products/oils for moisturizing my scalp and locks. Everything I use seem to cause my scalp to flake after about 1 week. The struggle is really, real. 😭😫

    Hey hey I have dry locs i been using taliah waajd healing oil also alikay naturals lemongrass leave in.. i also have a water an oil mix i made.. its been 7 weeks i have washed my hair last week and wet it 3 times this week in the shower because it so stiff. I've had my locs for 2 years.. When I go to the shop I have no problems with dryness.. I'm trying to maintain them myself but i can never get it as oiled as my stylist?.. Any suggestions?..

    Do you know how low porosity loc wearers are supposed to moisturize? If I spray water and seal with oil it’s still dry. I heard heat opens up the cuticles, so does that mean that I have to incorporate heat into my routine ?

      For me personally , it helps when it's a thickish oil (wild growth oil) .I also then to be heavy handed with it so it last about 2 days (if my hands were playing in my locs )

      Colour your hair black to balance your porosity. Then the oil and water will absorb better...

      I felt like you, and I have been locked for about 10months anyway, I was always in my hair, I did every hairstyle from here to Nigeria, lol, I'm just saying: I stayed in my hair. well, when I started my locs, I constantly retwisted, after awhile, those retwists became a chore,. now I am so used to letting my hair be, its difficult to style it, I would have never thought I would be in this place but I cant imagine going back, as I dont miss detangling and I most certainly don't miss trying out all of those products. one important beneficial thing I noticed, having locs saved me lots of money, I am thankful. I wish you well on your journay.

    Key is cut out all products with alcohol in them. That dries them out , especially shampoo with alcohol. It will brake your locs off
