    Looking into purchasing these lights. Do know it there is a difference at all between 660 Rgb and the 660 pro rgb? Specs look very similar the difference I notice on Amazon is the case and the price but is it the same light?

    Hi Phillip, This review is fantastic, thanks. I am wanting to get a key light that can be used both for interviews filmed at home and cooking videos in my small kitchen. I am wondering if one of the original bi color 660 lights would be suitable and bright enough for both needs? I could diffuse it with translucent paper or shoot thru reflector for the interviews. ( I already have so much gear and wanted to avoid having to double up on more softboxes etc, so I thought this may be a good portable solution? )
    Your lighting with the godox is beautifully done, but its just too big and bulky for my space. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks GG

    Thanks for sharing Phillip. Excellent to the point review. No BS. A question though. How versatile are these lights? I see you are using a different studio lights which you referred to as "the big boy". Why use the big boy? Are Neewer 660 not bright enough? Or are they focusing the light at only one spot. Are they powerful enough to light a room through window and diffusion? Just need to know how bright they are and in how many ways they can be used? And where they cannot be used and we must get some other light. Thanks!

    • @PhillipSkraba
      @PhillipSkraba  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're welcome! Well, the big boy is a Godox SL60W with a 120cm softbox so it really diffuses the light. I think with the right diffusion the 660 would be able to achieve the same effect but using a higher ISO as it's not as powerful as the Godox. It's a different type of light source, I use it mainly as a product lighting light rather than an "interview" type of light. It is very versatile, and sure, you can use it to light people too, it just doesn't have the raw power of the studio lights.

    • @PhillipSkraba

      It’s quite a powerful light for its size, two of them would definitely work better. I think for a small studio space it could do the job, I know others have used them as a key light as it’s a fairly large source and can be nicely diffused.

    Hello Phillip, amazing video as always. I have question about these lights.
    I'm currently working on new studio set up (at very beginner level) and I'm considering buying these Neewer 660 lights. I really like the RGB option but for most of the time ill be using only white/yellow light for video-recording but i don't know if these RGB would be powerful enough to lights-up my studio properly or if I should rather buy Neewer Bi-Color 660. I'm planning to use them as an A: main light and B: Fill Light (soo 2 pieces).
    Do you think RGBs would be enough or should i go for Bi-Color ones?

      Yeah, I had the same question too

    • @PhillipSkraba
      @PhillipSkraba  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So for me the power this light drops in daylight is more than enough, but it has 170+170 warm and cold leds, and 330 rgb. The Bi-colour has 330+330 warm and white, both are 40w lamps, not having the 660 bi-colour I can't be sure, but having almost twice the amount of bulbs it should have almost twice the amount of power output at 5600k. The RGB for me is enough though in daylight and I love that I have the option of such lush RGB colours. Hope that helps guys!

    Great video!
    I just noticed that Neewer has a 960 RGB panel as well. Any experience on the difference of light output? I also noticed it runs on V-mount batteries as oppose to the Sony NP’s. I wonder if that would fix the issue of less power when using batteries for the 660 as oppose to plug in power. Hmmm...
    Any thoughts?

    • @PhillipSkraba
      @PhillipSkraba  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't no, I'm guessing it's just 1/3 brighter than this one. The 660 is amazing, I love it, and the 960 is just a new version with more light, so I'm guessing it's just as great! The V-mount is superb, but V-mounts cost a lot, that's the only downside. It does come with a power adapter so that's good. I think that might help with the output as V-mounts have much more power than small NPF batteries. I'll ask, maybe they'll send me one out for review.

    Just ordered those...I don't understand why the intensity goes half when using batteries?Is this an oversight from neewer?Could i possible use a portable large battery that will feed both of them for maximum output?
    Last question i promise,can you use both tungsten and daylight for maximum output? Great content, THANKS

    • @PhillipSkraba
      @PhillipSkraba  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not sure why either, I'll try to get an answer for that. I'm guessing that if you could get a battery that could input the same wattage, voltage and all that jazz, it's possible that if would light at full intensity. I'm not too good at electricity, so I wouldn't be able to tell you what battery would drop that kind of power. Maybe the switch for battery is just designed that way.
      You can mix tungsten and daylight but the sweet spot would be in funny place 4400k, which is just a temperature that looks odd. It would however be running all leds at the same time giving it a little bit more power, yes.
      Thanks for dropping by Bill 🔥

    • @michaelballance1893

      @@PhillipSkraba The correct word for wattage is power. Power is in watts, current is in amps, voltage in volts and resistance in ohms. It hurts my ears when people say stuff like ohmage for resistance etc.

    • @michaelballance1893
      @michaelballance1893 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could replace the AC power block with a battery as long as you satisfy the input requirements (From neewer.com Input Voltage: DC12-15V; Power: 40W). That about 3.4 A @ 12 V or 2.7 A @ 15 V.

    • @PhillipSkraba
      @PhillipSkraba  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Michael, I'm so useless when it comes to electricity, I see what you're saying, but my brain just doesn't connect the dots, I'm just not wired like that... (pun intended) I wish I could get my head around it, but every time I try I just go braindead.

      I understand what you're saying, however those numbers sound like black magic to me. Is there a battery like that, or do I have to pull something out of my car? I can easily electrocute myself through lack of knowledge, I dance like I've been electrocuted, but I really know my way around a paintbrush.

    I just purchased a set of these lights and noticed there is very little difference between the brightness settings in the range of 1% to about 10%. It happens on both of them. Is this normal? I am using them as key lights with desk mounts and having a hard time to find a sweet spot for lighting and green screen. Wondering if I need a third for the green screen?

    • @PhillipSkraba
      @PhillipSkraba  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, a lot of lamps have this problem where 1% really isn't very dim, it's almost as it starts from 10% on a lot of them. That depends on the size of your screen, if it's a little uneven best thing to do is to diffuse them so them spill onto more of the screen.

      Yes, you can use normal light with it too, as in Daylight, sure! It has the best of both worlds. The CCT version is cool too, I have it, but this is just a ton more useful for me with the RGB leds.

    I’m trying to get some RGB Light
    Neewer 660 - $140
    Nanlite MixPanel 150 - $1.1K
    Which one of those Light Is BRIGHTER?
    I really can’t choose between the two, I will using them to shoot music video during both Day & Night Time.

    • @PhillipSkraba
      @PhillipSkraba  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, you're talking about a 40w vs 150w light, the Nanlite puts out approx 11,300lux @ 1m, the Neewer 1,500lux (I tested 800lux), so the difference is huge. The Nanlite is a larger, more advanced and a lot more expensive light, they really aren't on the same playing field. Don't get me wrong, the Neewer is a fantastic light for it's price, it's just catered to a different filmmaker.

    • @PhillipSkraba

      RGB lights tend to be a little dimmer, that's true. I also own the F7, and it's a blinding light, absolutely blinding, it's a totally different category though. I'm totally with you though, give us more power, the more the better 🔥
