If I were to write a miracle to put inside the box, I’d put that I found out about this show and also this TH-cam channel! My fondness for turtles also stemmed from Libby and helped me to sponsor a Giant South American River Turtle at my local zoo! 🐢
I'm not Jewish but I won't deny that I love watchinig this episode during the holidays regardless. I can't express how much I love Festival of Lights. It's basically perfect. The humor is perfect, the emotional moments are perfect, the heart of this episode is perfect. It's The Ghost and Molly McGee's best episode hands down and so far, no other amazing episode of the show has surpassed what Festival of Lights has done. But two scenes in this episode stood out to me. One is Libby's telling the story of Hannukah. I made it no secret that I think that not only is Libby my favorite character in the show, she's the best character ibn the show period. And this scene solidifies why. It's Lara Jill Miller's best performance as Libby, you have the scenery which adds to the atmosphere of the scene, Plus we see Libby doing this in front of several people which was one of her fears in Talent Show. It's my favorite part of the episode and maybe the entire series as a while. The other scene is Leah telling the story about her family and the Menorah she has. It's shows how well The Ghost and Molly McGee tackles serious subjects and makes it work. Plus seeing Leah's family throughout the years combied with Leah and Libby's dialogue at the end of the scene makes this a memorable scene as well. You brought up a great point about how we don't know what Pete or Libby's miracles are. Pete's is a mystery but I thought the same thing you said about Libby's miracle. Libby would say that her miriacle would be the first true BFF she ever had. ^_^ Great video as always Chandler and like usual, I can't wait to see more videos in the future.
I'm so glad that this Hanukkah episode exists, and that it turned out as fun and heartfelt as it did. Let's hope that more Hanukkah Disney TV shows and movies follow suit! 🤞
I’d love to see Christmas episodes like this, too! Honestly, White Christmess is kinda similar, where it’s just very sweet and low stakes. Not everything needs to be saving Christmas in one way or another.
I'm Jewish on my father's side and this year we decided to have a mini Hanukkah along with our Christmas, it was so nice to light the candles and sing together
Festival of lights was a great Molly McGee Hanukkah episode that shows some of the Hanukkah traditions, while also doing its own take on the miracle of Hanukkah. A very good Hanukkah episode.
The scene with Libby's great-grandparents hits especially heavy when you realize they were among the lucky few. Many Jews tried to flee after that night, only to be denied asylum.
First off, this is the second episode from animated media to depict Hanukkah in a respectful way; outside of Rugrats way back when. My favorite part was the Dreidel scene...never knew how it's played before that moment. Secondly, I (like so many other fans) continue to wonder why Libby's mom always calls her her miracle. Part of me thinks it's just her being sweet (and best mom) but others suggest that maybe, just maybe...something must've happened on the day Libby was born
They’ve knocked it out of the park with every holiday episode, but this one definitely feels the strongest of them. It has a perfect blend of hilarious and heartfelt moments, all told through a wonderful set of vignettes looking at everyone celebrating and joining together both for the holiday and to get out of the blackout. It has a warm familial bond, great moments with friends, and a wonderful sense of community- sounds like a perfect episode to me. And I also greatly appreciate this episode since it feels like a great celebration of another religion’s holidays and culture. I mentioned in the video on representation for Jewish culture that I am always interested in seeing other cultures represented in media to learn more about these kinds of things. And this episode is an amazing way to handle that. Especially when we get to explore it with Libby and Leah, two of the best characters in the show. Side note, loved this year’s holiday episode as well.
If I had a miracle to put in the box, it would be my mom. She has helped me so much during my life and she is helping me get back to college next month. I love my mom so much
This was an incredible episode! And you integrated the Disney experience super nicely with the review. Also, nice cooking segment, especially for it being made from “Scratch” (drum sounds). Happy holidays! Also, can we talk about Molly getting behind Libby’s hair at 1:01 lol, I love how random that is, they’re Silly BFFs. The miracle segment was the best (well, aside from the beautiful segment of Leah talking about her family, that was just incredibly touching independently of the show it is in!). It was honestly just the best part of Scratch’s arc until that point, it was so sweet. And this time you showed the clip I caught the friendship leitmotif from “All Night Plight”, didn’t know it appeared there before!
Glad you enjoyed it! This was so much fun to make. The eighth night of Hanukkah just so happens to be my mom’s birthday, so I think we’re going all out for that!
Just re watched this episode last night. One of the most charming and wholesome episodes of an already charming and wholesome show. It was a heartwarming look at the antics of Molly, Scratch, The McGees and Libby getting into the Jewish Hanukkah pastimes and traditions at the bookstore during a power outage. Fave parts of it include Libby continuing to show off her talents of dramatic poetry, Scratch's fascination with the holiday's food (and song) and of course, that sensitively and emotionally powerful flashback to how Leah's family migrated to the US during the troubling times of war. One of the top ten eps of the show for sure!
Aside from a few lines from Libby, I think this was the first time Scratch got a solo song. It’s a shame he doesn’t sing more, Dana Snyder has a pretty good singing voice
Sunnyland Productions, ( 5:07 - 5:14 ) I couldn't agree more. Also I'm kind of surprised how you didn't mention how that line becomes a lot more heartwarming in hindsight after season 2's "Like Father, Like Libby.
The episode may not be my personal favourite, but I understand why it is for many people. The jokes landed, the emotional moments hit, and it made me appreciate Hanukkah much more. Also, I do fanart, but I was never influenced by Fat Scratch🤣
I watched this episode back when it first released and I agree that it's definitely one of the best holiday episodes from Disney! I plan on watching it again this weekend. I really loved this year's holiday episodes too, especially Perfect Day! I can definitely relate to believing that one bad day can turn into one bad week, then a bad month, then a bad year, then a bad life - Me and Molly can both be a little perfectionistic to say the least lol. Anyways thank you for making this video and thank you for all the effort you've put into all of your other videos as well. I love hearing your analysis and opinions on this show. I hope you're happy and healthy, enjoy the holidays, and I hope you will have a great weekend!😊
Both episodes together stands as one of my all time favorite Christmas episodes of any show. On top of being very informative of the meaning of Hanukkah, I adore the framing device of the episode. And the jokes as always are pretty funny
I love this episode, plus any Libby focused episode. I'm not in the demographic for this episode, but as a person who has a basic grasp of Hanukkah it's amazing. Great episode again!

Purim's Actually a really fun Jewish Holiday that I would have loved to see on the show, but I'm still glad we got this hankuah episode in the series. There was a season 3 pitch that would have involved her family likely doing a purimspiel (or "purim play") after Libby comes out of her shell. The would have been so much fun to watch unfold especially if they put in a bit of 🐢 based comedy! Purimspiel has always been a fun source of comedy to watch and i would have loved to see it as a bookend to the celebration of chanukah. 😂 (Fun Fact: I'm a voracious holiday fan, especially with mixed faith holidays. Hey Sunny, wanna try some cookies? family recipe, part Austrian part Romanian part Hungarian part west German, i was asked so often for the recipe that i wrote it down in both English and german, Dough for around a 100 cookies or roughly 3 baking tray's
the dough consists of
500 grams flour
baking powder(14g)
150 g sugar
vanilla sugar (8g)
2 eggs
3 tablespoons of Milk
250 g Margarine
First mix anything except Flour and Baking powder together
Use a dough hook and than slowly add Flour and baking powder
put the dough in a bowl and place it in the refrigerator for a least 2 hours
this is necessary to avoid the dough becoming sticky
preheat the oven on 180° Celsius
when you roll out the dough sprinkle a little bit of flour on to the dough like you're salt bae
you have enough flour if the dough no longer sticks itself to the rolling pin
(Pro advice you can also add flour on your cookie cutters and rolling pin to avoid the dough becoming sticky)
place the cookies on parchment paper and put them into the preheated 180 degree Celsius Oven
!!warning!! they are finished fast!!
as soon as the colour is slightly brown they are ready usually ----within 5 minutes
The Glaze
Sugar Font (Dr. Oetker or similar)
Lemon Condiment (Citrovin or similar)
powdered sugar 250 g, should do it
Baking Block Chocolate
As Glaze you could either use the old school method,,,
baking block chocolate which is just microwaved and put on top of the cookies with a small painting brush
or something more colour full ,new and interesting
Dr. Oetker sugar font(or similar sugar fonts its hard to tell what's available in other countries)
the sugar font tubes are far too sweet
but you can spice it up a bit with the Citrovin Lemon Condiment and Powdered sugar
if you desire white a Glaze take 100 grams of powdered sugar and add a small shot of the Lemon Condiment
and 1 tablespoon of water , mix it together ....after that it too can be paint-brushed on to the cookies
if you prefer some colour you will mix as much of the Sugar fonts into the mix as you want more Sugar-font
equals darker colour the standards you usually get are green, red, yellow, blue but you can of course also try and mix colours
