    Hi Richard, Bluegill and Red-Ears, I started fishing them when I was about eight years old and thought there was nothing I could ever like better. I was wrong now over sixty years later there is nothing better than seeing the smile and excitement on my granddaughter's face when she catches them!

    "It's a rough world out here. Let's make a cast." Absolutely the motto of my life. God bless you sir, you are the next best thing to Bill Dance. You help me love fishing even more and very educational. Thank you again.

      Bill Dance is a repeat. Fishing his same pond over and over catching those huge bass. I could go there and catch them with a hook and sinker. Plus he likes to play with the fish too much, trying to get them to jump again when they should have been in the boat 5 minutes ago. Richard Gene pits Bill Dance to shame!

    You know Richard, one of the reasons I like watching your channel is that when you catch a fish you actually let it fight for a bit and don't rush it. These bass fishers catch and reel like there is no tomorrow. Anywhere from 3-8 lbs. and beautiful fish and fighting like a gangster to get off the hook. They try to beat the land speed record for reeling it in. I just don't get it. But your my style fisherman and my favorite.

    caught 56 in an evening all as big as your hand. Friend went back out and caught 104! Red worm and a trout float wore them out! These fish pretty often spawn where the were spawned. Mark your calenders when you find the spot. You'll have 2weeks + or - to catch the mature shell crackers before they disperse. Dumber than crappie but taste just as good 👍

    • @dallasbrown2626
      @dallasbrown2626 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm a North Carolinian so it a little different around my lakes however we caught them5 -7 ft 10-20ft off the bank around a fallen tree catch and release insurers that we can check or spot next year for shell crackers(and a few super size brim) i caught the biggest shell cracker weighing 1.4 lbs 12.25 in long. I believe there are many factors in fishing let alone spawning barometric pressure lunar phase temperature wind and level of the thermocline all play major factors the key is to get out there "and go fishing when you can because it's good for ya "👍 put in the time and figure out what works and when it works

    Mr Richard, you brought back some memories when you said fly rod. It does not get any better catching those big bluegills on a popping bug. My uncle, who turns 84 this year, still goes after them every year with his fly rod and poppers. Nothing like seeing and hearing those big bream sucking down those poppers by these cypress knees here in NW MS. I’m going after them in the morning with this full moon. Stay safe and God Bless you and Mama Sue.

    I reminisce to my teenage years where i would be on the lake with my pop and brothers fishing for panfish. Oh, how impatient i would be and would just want to catch some major game fish for the simple thrill of the fight. Nowadays, all i want to do is sit at the edge of a nice quiet lake and reel in a few bluegills or crappies and enjoy the scenery in the process. Too busy working and not enough enjoying anything nowadays. God bless sir. Love the videos. Keep em coming.

    Thank you for this video sir! It reminds me of our yearly trips to the Appomattox River in Virginia. We catch a hundred tiny panfish using beetle spins, one after another, running them thru honey holes and behind rocks and fallen timber. Ahhh...can't wait to go back!!

    Went out today with the kid. Water is too cold yet here in WI, but the gills are starting to cruise the shallows. Cold front coming, so the fishing will be delayed again. Managed to catch a large mouth bass though and yes, I had the fly rod out too. Gonna be another couple of weeks for the crappies, wooo! Couple of years and I'm moving that way so I can fish out of my boat all year round.
    Sick of northern winters!!!

    You caught some nice blue gills. I fish at lake Eufaula to the south of you. The shellcracker were on the beds a couple of weeks ago. Some of the biggest l ever seen. I used the giant red worms and fished 3 to 5 feet of water. I used a slip cork with a knotted line tied above the cork on a ultra light rod and reel using 6 pound Cajun line. I was dragging the bottom to get them. Size 6 hook with a small split shot led 5 inches above with a bead above the lead. We caught the limit

    Hey Richard. That's a lot of fun...and great to keep my kids interested! Was curious if you like to fillet or cut'em and gut'em and throw it in a pan. We're fixing to harvest a bunch of mongo green gills out of our pond so was curious.
