- The Jury is a British television serial broadcast in 2002 (with a second series in 2011). The series was the first ever to be allowed to film inside the historic Old Bailey courthouse.

Hi, I'm living in OZ, just seen this for the first time. It's brilliant, the US just don't know how to male a great drama like this. The Brits are No 1 for drama and comedy as well.

Despite the fact that this was one of Gerard Butler's earliest appearances on the screen, I believe it is one of his best roles.

There was a second series? Were there carry-over characters or actors? I loved the 2002 series. Searched for a long time to find it on DVD. It introduced me to Ms. McCrory and to Mark Strong. Gerard Butler was the reason I was interested in the series, but I enjoyed all of the performances so much. As for Gerry, I agree with Patricia, I think it was, and always will be, one of his best roles.
An absolutely brilliant series. First class acting by all concerned. What this series shows up, right from the very beginning of the trial, is the obscene length of the breaks taken by the judge and a ridiculously late start each day ...10 am!! It's no wonder there's such a backlog in the British Justice system. Why on earth can't they start each day at 9 am......one hour for lunch and then continue at least till 5 pm or even 6? Is it because the members of the legal fraternity from the lowly solicitor to the high court judges all like spending time on the golf course or drinking gin and tonics in their clubs? Surely all the major work on both the prosecution and defense sides has already been prepared before the trial!
I think there's probably a few reasons for it:
1. The jury really need to be on the ball the whole time. It's actually a lot harder than it might seem to sit there for hours and hours, unable to speak, and concentrating the whole time. Court isn't really like it appears on TV and in the movies, where there are dramatic things happening all the time and explosive evidence suddenly changing everything. In a real trial there is a lot of boring procedure - especially if there is forensic evidence which needs to be explained - and if the jury are forced to sit there too long they can lose focus and miss vital evidence.
2. Let's say you are on the defence team. You know who will be called to present evidence and you know what they're going to say if you have deposed them beforehand; though often there isn't time for that if the defendant isn't rich and can't afford for his team to do that much work. Even if they have done their homework though, unexpected things pop up during the trial and the defence needs to have time to counter the unexpected. Then, when the defence is presenting their case, the prosecution needs the same thing. You'll find that in real life the prosecution and defence teams aren't heading off to the golf course at the end of the day, they're going over the events of the day and figuring out their plan for tomorrow.
Clive: Much trial-related business happens outside the courtroom; in chambers; at the bench minus the jury, and more. The trial process is complex. Civilians such as yourself should drop in to observe trials on civil and criminal matters to acquire a fuller understanding of this amazing process.

Ooooh this looks good! I just finished the series RECKLESS with Robson Green, Micheal Hudson & J Anais, it was fantastic! Highly recommend checking it out if you are looking for good British drama. 😊
Can’t beat the British dramas. One thing I don’t understand is if the victim was a 15 year old classmate one would assume he was under 18 therefore I would have thought he was to young to be tried at the Baily

This might be quite good but I shall never know as the loudness and the intrusion of the music turned me off. I think I was watching a concert with dialogue thrown in rather than a film. Too bad.

I checked and it is definitely season 2. However it seems unfortunately that one of the episodes is missing. Also, you will need to be used to navigating around annoying popups! I hope this helps somewhat :)

The unecessary 'arty' camera/editing at the start makes me remember why I enjoy older TV series more, like the Sweeny. Then boring stuff like a one minute shot of a bird putting lipstick on. Barristers talking about 'nice shop lifting trial" - huh, surely a case for magistrates court? It was so slow moving that I quit at 18.00.

Loved this series but so disappointed last series not posted. Why put it up? Tried daily motion no good. was able to find on IMBh but there was no pic & sound horrific. Also watched clip of Gerald Butler, helpful but you didn't get whole series. So disappointed.

Some detainees were, and still are sometimes purposely bounced and "waffled" during transport.
In those days, the transport were vans with no seats no upholstery, just a cage behind the drivers bench.
