  • The main purpose of this video is to show you how to remove, disassemble, and reassemble this carburetor. If you have any questions regarding tuning (what jet you might need, etc...), please refer to the numerous videos on youtube. You will receive much more accurate information if you do your own research. I do not know a lot about carburetors so do not take everything said in this video as the truth. If there is any incorrect info, please let me know in the comments and I will edit the video.

    Recently purchased Hawk-250cc. I just wanna say thank you for your time, effort, and knowledge you put into this video. I'm technically a Noob in the dirtbike world, but I've built 2 from scratch with engine and frame being present and sold them and now I've put together this beautifully looking Hawk-250cc.... Anyways before arrival all the forums I read said WE couldn't SWITCH internal parts of Chinese/Japanese (not sure whichever but I'm not racist so I'll mention both 😅) stock carburetor😢!!! Then you came along and showed me the light🎉😂!!!! Keep up the good work,
    Peace and Blessings

    Great vid love the step by step , Mine gets here tommorow already have the 110 main jet , if you can find a small enough drill bit to take a little material from the pilot it will help with idle , been through it on a friends bike already.

    • @TexasMoto
      @TexasMoto  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad you liked it! I remember watching a video where someone had a drill bit set designed for jets. I might have to look into that. I plan on backing the fuel mixture screw out a little more and seeing if that helps at all before I drill or replace and make an update video on what worked for me. Thanks for the input!

    • @johnaverick7468
      @johnaverick7468 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is what I was going to tell you Tex. I was told when you back that idle screw out it richens the idle mixture. This is the screw you have to get at from the bottom. You pretty much have to take the carb off to do it .

  • @minnesotahawk4090
    @minnesotahawk4090 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I used a .5mm drill bit from harbor freight about 4 dollars for the set. Thing is my drill would not hold it, so i put the thread end of the pilot jet gentle in to the drill and held the bit with a needle nose pliers. and it worked fine. No need to mess with the idle screw after boring out the pilot jet, i might go bigger in the future im still having to crack the throttle to start. but no choke so thats cool

    The needle with multiple slots for the C-clip..... experiment with different positions it may be that the needle is sitting to low?Causing a finicky idle?.....The needle to low in the jet as the motor warms up the Jet expands from the heat letting just enough gas in for pretty good running and when the engine cools everything tightens back up. putting the choke on for a cold start opens the needle slightly over coming the problem for start up.... try raising the needle one level. the higher up the needle is off the jet means more fuel to the carb and vice versa.jim

    What type of tamper proff screw did they use never get very good look at them.
    IF going to order Jets what not get screwdrivers too?

    • @TexasMoto
      @TexasMoto  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe they used a regular screw and just ground the head off of them so we couldn't open the carb and tweak anything. I'm not 100% sure what you're asking in your second question. I believe youre asking if you could just buy screws to replace the tamper proof ones. If so, yes you can. I would suggest cutting a slit in them and removing them (same as in my video) and taking them up to your local hardware store (I recommend Fastenal if you have one) and comparing the length and threads.

  • @Shaded
    @Shaded 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    great vid! helped me out a lot on my PZ30 carb, I seem to have a newer model because instead of tampering screws I have regular ones, also the mixture screw is much more easy accessable. I seem to run a bit rich, exhaust popping wildly while decelerating. Turning it clockwise is adjusting it to be more lean right? Because I hear not every carb has the same turning direction..

    • @TexasMoto
      @TexasMoto  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They may have made changes based on customer feedback? It's been so long I honestly couldn't tell you. Each carb (assuming the same brand and model) will be the same. Obviously, different carbs may not be. I would think a mixture screw is pretty universal in the way it works so they should be the same.

  • @tatsumaru12345
    @tatsumaru12345 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Dremel works good to slot the screws too.
    I had a dollar tree hacksaw, nope! Just have to find some replacement screws.
    Great video! Probably the clearest, and most in depth video on this carb. Definitely a thumbs up. Made me feel more confident in mine.
    But the idle is normal on these hawks. You pretty much have to warm them up, to idle at all. I'll be going to a stop sign, pull in the clutch, and hear some kid holler 'you stalled it!' Like no you 16 year old little crap. The Chinese don't like the cold.
