  • In this video we share our favorite sandbar (and its location). Plus, we show you how we get there along with the route we take. Caution, sandbars shift frequently and dramatically in the Lower Florida Keys. Before attempting any route be sure YOU know how to read shallow water and talk with locals who have knowledge of the routes. The route we use now is different from what we used before hurricane Ian. Don't trust charts to be 100% accurate. Many still show markers that we lost during hurricanes Irma and Ian that no longer exist.

I only live a couple of canals down from you, I really enjoy your TH-cam channel! Would love to be able to follow you to marvin and lay down a gps track someday, or if you had an actual track you'd be willing to share (garmin or navionics). I have ventured on the other side of the bow channel bridge a few times, but got myself into places I didn't want to be! I will try to follow the map you drew on screen...but you know what it's like down here! It doesn't take much variation to get in trouble! Thanks for the videos!

Steve, happy to have you follow me out, or I can loan you my portable GPS unit. You can run out with it and follow my route to lay your track down. K

Nice of you to familiarize folks about hazards. Although I now live in NC, I grew up in Homestead and boated a lot in the area.
Just one observation about your new drone. It looks like the camera pans too quickly. Don't know if you can adjust that, but just thought I'd mention it. I'm subscribing now because you don't inundate folks with incessant content. Thanks.

Thanks for the note, I did find a way to slow the camera rotation down. You should see an improvement the next time I shoot with it. Thanks for watching.

Hi and thanks for sharing your knowledge. I'm coming to the Keys in August to do some lobstering, I usually stay in Marathon but decided to go farther south this time due to Airbnb availability. I'm not familiar with the area. so, your videos have already helped me find a place to start. I'm staying in an Airbnb at the north end of Cujo Bay, I have a 20 ft Caralina skiff with a 130 Honda on it and I'm wondering about the water depth in that area. will it be hard for me to get out of the bay? I can usually get on a plane in 2 feet of water.

You're going to be in great shape with the Carolina Skiff. They are extremely popular with the guides down here. Thanks for watching.

Another great video bud, very good navigation advice. You mentioned your drone and not being happy with it's video quality, do you ever use Polarized lens covers or a CP lens cover. I have a DJI Mavic Air and when I fly it in the bright sun I always use a lens cover. It makes a world of difference, you just need to get used to which one to use in different conditions. I bought a multi pack of 6 different ones from Amazon for like $30 bucks, well worth it in my opinion.

Wow, thanks I have not used the filters. The biggest problems I was having were: Jumpy footage - the image stabilizers were not very good. # poor control in moderate wind. I have an older (6 or 7 Mavic and a newer RUKO). I will definitely look at the filters - thanks for the suggestion!

Maybe you can lend some advice for the channel outside horseshoe beach. Went through it this summer and pretty sure I was within the markers but still hit my prop. Do you cheat it closer to one side of the channel? Thanks!

On the far east end of the Channel it really narrows down. (the side closest to Bahia Honda Bridge. You need to go North of center there. I only know this because there are some good lobster ledges on the East end where it cuts in. You want to be on plain going from the West End to Spanish Harbor (that is the little boat ramp on the West end of the island). People use that channel frequently to go from the ramp to Bahia Honda Bridge to fish. Take a look at it up close on Google Earth and you can see the narrowing of the channel pretty clearly - you wouldn't see in murky water.

@@chris_bjj123 If you look at from the satellite photos you can really see it, I have zero idea why they would build it like that. Hope you didn't get too much damage.
