Used 90 weight gear lube for engine oil. We would take it into town and run a hose into the throttle body. Then dump tranny fluid in and smoke out the town. Even sunk it in a creek once. Pumped it out, primed the engine and fired it back up. Lol
It never laid down in the 10 years we had it. Ended up trading it for a Winchester model 70. Far as I know the guy still has it and drives it from time to time.

    • @baladar1353

@@kaihlis I don't think this engine could be started without a flywheel. On this engine (and almost every car engines) the starter motor rotates the flywheel, which is bolted to the crankshaft. A small starter motor couldn't turn a four cylinder engine's crankshaft, maybe just 'til the first compression stroke.
The starter motor has a small gear, while the flywheel is basically a larger gear. The gear ratio between the small and the larger gear makes the starter to be able to turn the crankshaft around, so the engine can start.
It seems you know all these, although it's cringy that many viewers don't have any clue about it. This channel isn't for car enthusiasts, at least I think so, it's only for entertaining young guys with some technical bounds.

In the old days they had an ignition system and dual fuel rails to start some of the bigger diesels, it would fire on the gasoline until it built compression, then the operator would close the compression lever, cutting off the gasoline and ignition, and then shunting in diesel. Guess it worked for awhile but they dont do it anymore i dont believe .

    • @svetko05

@@mcplutt Depends on the pumps and injector materials, stock timing, and how hard it's ridden. First major issue is whether the pumps and injectors can live without lubrication.... some can. Second is whether or not the injector timing isn't too early since gasoline will pop off super-fast, and third is if the heat rejection is good enough to avoid torching holes in the pistons and melting the edges off the exhaust valves.
Some engines can definitely pull it off, just don't climb any hills where you need full throttle for a few minutes.
An Isuzu 1.7TD.... probably isn't one of those engines, and I'd want to start diluting that tank of gas with diesel the moment there was 2-3 gallons of head in it.
