When you see how much work goes in to this, then you look at a place like Blenheim Palace, which is not so far from me, and see the wall that goes round that estate, and think what a mammoth task that must have been. Some of those old civil engineering projects, all hand labour, no machines, all those bricks, must have kept an army of brickies busy for their whole lives on one project.
Great work as always Stu, must be really nice to work on such an interesting project from start to finish. I find your videos great, really therapeutic tbh, lol. Ignore the negative comments, unfortunately everyone has a voice these days, you cant please everyone! Keep up the great work and all the very best with your upcoming development venture.

Have you seen actual tuck pointing I'm a bricklayer and I've only seen it on TH-cam and never done it this is actually just pointing or re-pointing if he grinded out some of the old brick work tuck pointing is something totally different you can find videos of it and you are not the only person who gets it confused
amazing job, but i think that many bricklayers calling themselfs bricklayers will have problems build this wall !!!

Dear Stu, a wonderful work! Which mortar mixture did you use to get this near-white color? And wouldn't be a tuck pointer a litten more comfortable and productive to fill the joints? BR from Germany

Can I ask a question as a complete non bricklayer. Why is the mortar not 'piped' in like toothpaste, I guess there's a good reason. Best wishes Christine x
Finished wall looks 👌🏼 but why not point it as your built it? Instead of charioting it out and then pointing it?

Different mix for the pointing. We built it exactly as it was.
How come? You didn’t point in sand cement did you?
Только с крышкой косяк, не сделали штробу снизу, да и не пойму.... Если хоть какое-то количество воды попадёт внутрь стены, а оно попадёт из-за неплотности плит, то при первых морозах снизу кладку отстрелит.
Did you charge this one by the hour or project. Ton of work to do, seems like you might of under charged with all the extra steps like saw cutting all the old mortar off the bricks. Clean job!
One could tip a 300 year oak on that thing now and the trunk would just bounce off of it.

its been there 200 years and it took a tree to Destroy it I'm sure its fine (total understand what you mean but it isn't cement mortar). plus strong bricks and lime mortar really helps with frost shattering.
Ever thought about using a grout bag?🤷🏻♂️

He didn't do the job for free. Prob charged them £5k+

@@notrut Not even sure if insurers would pay out on that. It's not 10k to repair that wall though. It's not rocket science, no footings required etc. Just overly hard mortar.
Class work bit of youghurt and cow $hit slapped on there and it will blend in seamlessly in a years time top draw work
I just think having such a massive brick wall right there makes no sense.

@@Stucrompton1 Your videos provided no situational context of how that wall fits in with the overall layout of the property or surrounding area. It would have been nice to see that other wall. A drone shot would have worked well.
@@ronm3245 He's a brickie it's not his fault if you cant work out why people build walls around their properties. If something doesn't make sense to you then try thinking about it....
I don't mean to be rude, but the last few videos covering this wall rebuild have been really good, and then this video comes along 3 weeks later and just seems really poorly put together compared to the others. It still looks great, though.
I am going to be doing a full video from start to finish. There have been many things happening away from TH-cam also the home owners wife has been very ill so that’s why there’s been a delay.
