As I'm rewatching these episodes binge-style for around the 4th time, I've become amazed at Freiburger's father-like patience for all the antics that happen as his cars' expense. The man is a rock!! On the flip side, it's equally amazing that as soon as Finnegan touches something on a Roadkill epi, the damn thing magically breaks or dies. Truly magic I tell ya.

in the 80's me and my cousin drove a Duster 360, Man you talk about fun, we had to put in a clutch system.. the old one was shot. But back then, we did not have a alignment tool. so we did as good as we could. we ended up having all forward gears, but no reverse, But it was fast, we smoked the tires so many times, raced everyone who was willing. and it was TONS of FUN!!!!! And banging on headers, yup, I did that too, when installing headers in a 1978 Camaro!!!!

Don't worry you only need about a grand worth of tools to do what these guys do :) It's not a cheap hobby! But tools last a life time and you can start off with more basic stuff and build your kit as you go. And if you get a job with no girlfriend or kids you actually will have plenty of money to work on cars! Really you would. Just learn from Freiburger, he lost that nicely orange painted duster for an engagement ring.

Actually a lot of the music they play in the episodes sounds extremely familiar to music you would here in the mainstream just that they changed the notes to make it their own. TV shows have been known to do this as it brings back memories of familiarity of the subconscious. Sounds a bit far fetched I know but studies have been done.

Fantastic. Old school mechanicking with the mistakes showing, getting Mopar beaters up and running, entertaining commentary, this video has it all. I wonder when Dulcich finds the time to run his grape farm, but what a hoot (setting aside the blood, sweat, and tears of a days-long rebuild) this must be to have it all come together.

I bought a 73 from one of my buds at work that had a blown up 318 & 3 speed stick- also had a 440 out of a polara d-derby car. the two never made it together- found a slant six, installed it and had a daily driver that served me for years, would run fine on the worst regular one could buy, and delivered 25 mpg on the hi way. Plus it was red, had the rally wheels, and looked great from 50 feet away. Sometimes the low road is the path of least resistance.

In 1971, my gumba, Tommy Lee, bought a Valiant, 4-dr., Slant 6, 3-spd on the floor, with a police package. About the most balanced, useful (and fun) car, I have ever driven. I've had OG Z-28's, Griffiths, Jag 3.8S Salons, HiPo 271 Mustangs, the list is long and eclectic, yet, that Valiant sneaks into my thoughts. C'mon, climb out of that box you're stuck in.

I went overseas in '71 and came back with a handful of unspent cash. I had planned for months that I was going to find a '70 Duster 340 and make it scream.
Couldn't find one. Not in months of searching around the Washington, D.C. area. I ended up buying a '70 Cuda 383/335, but it was never the same. Blew up the 383 and planted a 440 in the hole. Cool sleeper with the 383 decals on the car, it loved eating 396 bow ties alive. But it still wasn't my small block Duster.
Many years and big block Mopars later I finally had my chance to build a small block. Figured on popping it into a '68 Dart skin and terrorizing the San Fernando Valley. Built a punched out 360 with all kinds of cool go-fast parts ('69 2.02 Hi-comp heads, even) and ended up stuffing it into my '79 D150 while my wife tenderly put my wardrobe on the curb.
Still wasn't the same as my dream Duster...
