The Crop Duster is Roadkill's back-to-basics street and strip machine with big-block power. In this episode, you'll see it run in the 11s for the first time and make its quickest quarter-mile run ever--and that's in no-prep track conditions--after David Freiburger and Steve Dulcich rework the suspension and hack 100 pounds out of the car. The engine currently in the Crop Duster is a 508hp, 395ci big-block that runs on 91-octane pump gas. The transmission is a TCI Torqueflite 727, and the rearend carries 4.10 gears.
Show moreShow lessRoadkill Garage is an all-new show that will be appearing exclusively on Motor Trend On Demand monthly in 2016. Featuring David Freiburger from Roadkill and Steve Dulcich from Engine Masters (don't worry, Mike Finnegan is still the co-host on Roadkill), Roadkill Garage finds Freiburger and Dulcich wrenching on Roadkill project cars and other things that meet the Roadkill vibe. They'll show you how to do the wrong things the right way.Year started: 2016

I love that Dulcich is just okay with this show being at his home.
    Thank you, Dulcich.

In the 80’s if you saw a car roll by with centerlines….. you knew that dude had a good job. They were serious “racing” wheels! 👍🏼

Dulcich is like "Fuck yeah, I'll take this car." 11 second Duster he poured a lot of sweat equity into and it's just offered up? You bet. I'd take that car in a cold minute.

I sure do miss my 71 4 speed Duster. It was only a 318 but it was so much fun banging gears.

I had a 318 with 3 speed manual on the floor. I put 3" tail pipes and a huge cam.(Stock 2bl carb, no headers) Sounded bitchin. Looked bitchin. I installed a big monster tach on dash with redline set at 6800. All a bluff. It worked. Lol

I had a good friend, he had a 69 Cornet that was built up and used to out-run alot of policr. Hos last warning was to move to another county. Anyway he had ETmags on it and one morning after getting chased he felt a looseness in the back end. He'd busted the centers out of his mags. From then on Centerline wheels. This all took place 35 plus years ago and he ran Centerlines till the day he died. 3 years ago, Covid 2 days before Christmas.

I remember back in the late 70s and through the 80s we were able to get ratio specific front shocks. For drag racing I always went with 90/10 fronts. Are those types of shocks with ratios still used. (90/10 equaled 90 down and 10-up so the front end would raise easy and settle back slowly.

Been building and racing old iron since the 1980s myself. Drag radials being invented were a GODSEND for a dual-purpose car. Aftermarket aluminum heads that flow a TON more than stock castings (and are somewhat affordable to the do-it-yourselfer) was another big improvement. Everything else just kinda slowly evolved better in little tiny steps. Cams, intakes, torque converters, etc. Honorable mention to the Performer RPM intake which just flat-out WORKS on almost any muscle car engine, regardless of brand, on a "daily driver" street car.
