- In this episode of the podcast, Rob is joined by actor Katherine Parkinson, who's best known for her award-winning performances as Jen Barber in Channel 4's The IT Crowd.
They discuss how Katherine got into drama school after graduating from Oxford University, her recent theatre appearances, and the dangers of hubris as a performer.
Katherine also reveals what it's like working with an 'Intimacy Coordinator' ahead of shooting sex scenes!

I'm a big Katherine Parkinson fan, ever since I first watched The I.T Crowd on a plane going somewhere on holiday. Glorious programme, glorious woman.

Great to see Richard Hammond as Rob's replacement on the show this week
Apropos her performance in "Much Ado About Nothing" - I was in the cinema getting ready to watch her performance in that play when they announced the Queen's death live on screen. They gave a minutes silence, played the National Anthem where half the audience stood up and half sat awkwardly, and then they gave an absolute barnstormer of a performance. If they ever replay it then I thoroughly recommend seeing it.

She is phenomenal in IT crowd. She has to buy these sexy shoes which are a couple of sizes too small. I just remember the way she pronounces “SHOES-A”. So cute.
Every episode of the IT Crowd is phenomenal. The best one is when they go to the theatre for the gay play, their faces when Moss is behind the bar and Roy in the wheelchair...lololol

These uploads are criminally under-watched - you've got the best podcast going for archiving the lives of active British comedians/actors
Just a guess but maybe it's because many people go and listen to the full podcast, so an edited version has no interest to them. As I say, just a guess.

In the IT crowd Katherine was very, very funny. But I will always remember her role in the Channel 4 programme 'Humans'.
Her role as the mother of that family felt so believable that, even in the context of a sci-fi world, the whole thing always felt so real. Definitely some of the best acting I have seen. Such a shame that it is in a show that so many people may never have even heard of.

I first heard of Rob on BFQ and thought he was fantastic. Since then I have watched heaps of his work. He is supremely funny, witty and on the ball. He also seems like he's quite a good man and his peers admire him too. He's awesome.
I didn't realise that the indefatigable Count of Monte Cristo had taken over Rob's spot!

Katherine Parkinson's voice and emoting are so in sunc in all her roles. It's a thrill to see her contain twenty emotions and motivations in a single scene while not betraying a one. A master.
Katherine Parkinson has been in SO many great shows lately. She's brilliant. Loved her on Task Master, too. She's also hotter now than she was back in the IT Crowd 😊 Spreadsheet didn't really do it for me as much as her other shows - the one where she's a barrister is my current favourite.
She wasn't good on Taskmaster and she was hotter on IT Crowd.
I'm American and wasn't familiar with her until I saw her on "Hitmen." Then I caught her "Taskmaster" episodes (maybe not all of them yet) and some highlights from "Travel Man"... she's a delight!

As an American, I really didn't know much about actors on the other side of the pond until i some how found WILTY.
You can't help but fall in love with the women on that show.
They are funny, vulnerable because we are learning quirky things about them and quick on their feet with witty come backs.
I even looked up Katherine on Wikipedia. She was beautiful when she was young and grew even more beautiful now.
Thanks to Rob, WILTY and all of UK and its neighbors for making this American laugh so hard.

Brydon never far from the centre of his own universe. She mentions where they first met and then it's all about him, and more about him later working with Clooney and it going well. But, she has natural aptitude for comedy and now gaining more acting roles.
@Rob - Might be a lone voice on this one… but would love to hear about your memories of working on the Discworld game in ‘95. It’s a game I have very fond memories of and only recently found-out you did half the voices. Great stuff!

Two very different series I loved (no hyperbole, I'm fussy)- both feature Catherine; IT Crowd and Humans. The later I've watched the amazing first series of, a dozen times.

Katherine said her sex scenes had a comedic thrust. Disappointed Rob didn't react to this at all. It wouldn't have been hard to grab a hold of that "thrust" with one hand or both and play with it a little, instead nothing came of it and it disappeared into a dark hole.

When people arent promoting something it's a better chat. The interviews that ARE motivated by selling something to people or promotion of yourself are less genuine. Many of the most popular podcasts get popular because of exactly that, two people talking like real people not like someones come to your door to spread the good word.
