    Thanks man, the problem solved, I opened the switch box, there is something loose inside, cleaned it, and put back, its all good now.

    Hmmmmmmmm that's the first time I have ever seen inside a car door, we had our window mess up on us a couple of years ago and it costed us an arm and leg to get it fixed. The man said that it was a lot of trouble having to get to the motor of the window and a lot was involved to fixing it. My hubby doesn't like to fool with anything electrical on a car, well mainly because he doesn't know anything about it . But I am saving this video of yours and showing it to him . I know he could learn how to fix a window now just by watching how you did it. So thank you for putting this out.

      Some are a total nightmare, this one happens to be easy. I would always say to do a specific search and look at more than one video, and also read comments. I really like working on window and door problems, much less greasy than under the car.

    Thank you for sharing this video. The switch for my driver's side window broke while the window was down. We're expecting bad storms tonight. I was almost positive I'd have to pull the entire door panel off, because why not? You have to take the driver's side tire off to remove the stupid battery. Your video saved me so much aggravation. I popped the master window switch off and used a wooden skewer to roll the window back up. I just ordered a new switch. I will never buy another Dodge Journey. Anyway, thank you thank you thank you SO much for this video! The first 50 seconds saved me. You rock!

      Yes it was the switch. When it doesn't go up, you can give it a push/wiggle and see if it helps

    In my case, I opened the switch box and cleaned the contact point of the switch which was not working.
    And then it worked.
    If you did not throw that out, please check it.

    Is there a way you can manually get the drivers side window up if the window switch isn’t working right because the actual switch is broken and I left my windows down and forgot and it rained and after that day the window switches for the rest of the car haven’t been working. I would Use a bobby-pin to raise and lower the window when I tried doing that I think i broke the motor for the passenger side window because it can roll up but now it can’t go up or down for the passenger. I just want to raise it I’ll get it fixed later. Is the alligator clips the only way to do so?

    • @TomPetersonRefuseReuse
      @TomPetersonRefuseReuse  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry, I didn't get notification of this comment. If you still need to get it up, and the motor is bad, you could disconnect the two bolts or clips that hold the window to the regulator and carefully push it up. When its up I use zip ties around the bolt holes and through a hole in the door.

    Having an issue with my rear passenger side window (only works going down). Tested the wiring, they're fine. Tested the swith and motor by installing them on the opposite door and they both work fine also. Is there another issue you can shed some light on that i should be looking into?

    • @TomPetersonRefuseReuse
      @TomPetersonRefuseReuse  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      A general problem I've seen with many cars is a wire gets broken in the door jamb. You have to pull back the rubber covering to see if there's any broken wires. This usually only happens on the driver's front though, because it's the door that gets opened and closed the most, causing the break.

    • @TomPetersonRefuseReuse
      @TomPetersonRefuseReuse  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It could also be a problem with the master switch, since power runs through that.

    • @gerdleveque491

      @@TomPetersonRefuseReuse I'll give that a look over. Did check the rear doors for broken wires, didn't spot any.

    At the end, what 2 wires are u touching to the alligator clamps? I didn't see exactly where they came from. Just wanna roll my window up.

    • @TomPetersonRefuseReuse
      @TomPetersonRefuseReuse  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      there are only two wires on the motor plug if I remember. It's a little difficult to get to them. Before you do any of that, try pressing a little harder on the switch in the up position. As you are pressing, wiggle your finger a little, the window might go up.

    • @martinsanchez8510
      @martinsanchez8510 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      you could also just take the working switch from the other door panel and switch it with the non working one to raise the window

    • @TomPetersonRefuseReuse
      @TomPetersonRefuseReuse  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@martinsanchez8510 usually the driver's side is the master switch and not interchangeable with the passenger side.

    Would you mind elaborating on the alligator clip method? What kind of battery do you have connected up and can you get this from the store?
    My switch is done and I don't have 150 to replace atm

    • @TomPetersonRefuseReuse
      @TomPetersonRefuseReuse  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just a car battery. You can just touch the connections with wires from the battery. There's no backwards way to hook it up, one way will make it go up, the other will make it go down. The only problem is the prongs are tiny and close. You could also cut the wires on the plug and connect your battery to that.

      Refuse Reuse ok.. in my case, my master switch makes a funny noise buzzing noise both up and down and none of my other windows respond nor can you control the window from the other switches.. the contacts on the board look pretty clean. I’m gonna continue to work on it tomorrow, but my window is stuck down. I might just try using the battery to the motor tactic to get it up for now. any more ideas where to start?

      @@Josh-px6xb if your motor runs up and down with the battery, it's good. Before taking anything apart, you could push down on the switch and wiggle it a bit, if the window starts moving, you know its the switch.

      @TomPetersonRefuseReuse  4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Did you check the fuses? Just asking because I have a 2017 dodge journey and the driver control module is not responding i was thinking that it might be a fuse they were working just fine

    • @TomPetersonRefuseReuse
      @TomPetersonRefuseReuse  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think I checked the fuses, but this was a while ago. The problem with this car was the switch. I do a lot of window work, and I don't remember having one be just a fuse. It's usually the wires in the door jamb, the motor,or switch.

    • @TomPetersonRefuseReuse
      @TomPetersonRefuseReuse  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Of course it doesn't hurt to check the fuses, and sometimes disconnecting the negative battery terminal for a few minutes could reset the module.
