What is up? Hey, any times, we all make comment mistakes. I just wasn't too sure that's all.. Glad to make your day. It's a damn shame to have companies lock you out of there products functions and whatnot. I applaud the reverse engineers who made this possible. I sure as hell wouldn't have thought about doing this ha. But, at least you got yourself a badass little camera now. :-) Now, we sit and wait to see what the new Hero 7's can do. Or reverse the Hero 6, to a 7. Who knows. I think the chiipsets, and boards are different. I honestly couldn't tell you.

just to add on, i have done this hack as per to this video and it works fine.
since love using the gopro with the app, i tried linking the newly update "hero 5" the app sync well and event prompt me for a latest software update.
once the software update was successfully installed everything is back as per to the "Hero 5" it event detected the camera name on the app as Hero 5.
So in conclusion we all get ourself a Hero 5 at a fraction of the price hahahaha! Awesome hack man!!
Oh, interesting tid bit my friend. I gave this one away to a friend and got the latest one. That I use for filming. I think it might be time to get myself a real good camera, the GoPro doesn't do well with up close shots, it's a tad blurry.
But umm.. to save yourself some cash at the time being why not buy the GoPro 2018 model, and mod it ha. I will say I've never used the app. I feel like it might slow to use.
@@DaveBudness i actually had this 2018 model for some time now, and today was they day i found out that it could be hack to hero 5, so after watching ur video i thought of giving it a try as no harm, if anything goes wrong just do a factory reset maybe, that was what i had in mind and since it works well and plus point the app works great with giving me the latest software update. I am all good and a happy man! hahahaha

This works flawlessly! hes literally done ALLLL the legwork for you, delete everything on your SD card, Go to the LINK HE POSTED, download it to your PC, Extract it, drag the extracted UPDATE folder to your SD CARD, after its copied over, put it back in your gopro if your using a card reader or if its already there, skip it... power on.. 1/2...….2/2...…..beep beep… beep beep… almost done.... BAM DONE! that simple!

Hey, thanks for the positive reinforcement. MAD LOVE. I modded my 2018 camera, and just gave it to a friend, who doesn't even use it. After I gave it to him cause that's how nice I'am, I got myself a HERO 7. I love the Hero 7. I wouldn't update anything. I don't even think there's firmware updates for old models. I could be wrong though. Yes, this video needs more VIEWS hahaha. right on! Thank You.
Dave Budness how much better is the hero 7 vs this hero 2018 that’s now a hero 5? Are there more features? Or for a guy who records on his helmet while on the motorcycle, and that’s it, just in case I get in a wreck, my family has some closure (sad but true), is it worth upgrading? Or is the hero 5 fine?

But that's just me. If your happy with what you have buddy, stick with it, and don't spend the money on something new.
I'd like to think that once the update is done it deletes itself. But, just insert the card in the computer and check. If it's there delete it. If it aint there your good to go.
hello, I have successfully done the hack. when I connect with the gopro application an update appears for version 2.70 is it safe to make an update?
Afternoon, Hope all is well with you and your family. I will be honest I never used the GoPro app for any cell after I hacked the firmware. Even before I knew about the hack. I never used an app for the GoPro. Don't need anything app on the cell. So in closing I'm sorry I can't help you.

I came over from xbox, ever since they had achievments, I've been super into them, and I have a ton on the xbox. I traded my xbox, for a PS4, so I'm still int he hunt for them. I tell myself theres so many games I haven't played yet, let's take it easy on achievements, but that never lasts to long. So, I'm still collecting them, or at least trying to get as much as I can. I like to at least try to complete 100%
Dave Budness I’ve gotten 100% on very few games. I think only on Uncharted and Modern Warfare 2. Been meaning to boot up my PS3 which is set up and currently has Fallout: New Vegas in the disc tray.

I tried to revert back to the 2018 hero OS, but nothing worked out for me. So, it looks like your stuck with the Hero 5 being unlocked for you. Maybe, I should have said something in the video. Yes sir, check the link if it's still good, as in downloadable. If not, I'll re upload it. But, Yeah there's only one firmware hack. So, it's not really recent. Nobody is updating the firmware hack, who ever created it, made it and that's just the way it is, there won't ever be updated firmware software. If that makes any sense.. Just, know the firmware files, do work bud.

To revert to Hero 2018 is easy. Get the latest Hero 2018 firmware from the "manual update" option on the gopro website and then decompress those files to a folder called 'update_revert'. THEN from the cracked version (at the link above), copy the "fwupdate.txt" and the "hd5_update" files into the update_revert folder. Copy the update revert folder to an SD card and rename it to "update"....and then stick it into your camera. It will restart 3 or 4 times....but will completely revert.

@@DaveBudness could you create a hacked version of the 2.7 firmware? There are some features (like being able to use aftermarket batteries) that only seems to work on the 2.7 update. Doesn't work on 2.6 version you've shared at all.

Yes. I don't know why. Might want to do some googling. I couldn't tell you. Unless there's load going on within the camera that is needed to function.
