Thanks for your support everyone! This should clear up most of the questions about how we film these POV style videos, and I'm happy to answer anything else you've got
Tedward, rather than sticking microphones in the ear, I’d suggest mounting them to a girls hairband and wearing that beneath the cap... With a camera on the face, you might as well go full dress up. lol
I can only imagine the amount of trial and error that went into this. When you mentioned you shot 1440p and then zoomed in... that is unbelievably clever. Fantastic video man! Appreciate you putting this out into the world.
I recently got a M-LOK GoPro mount for my rifle, mounted it under the rail at the front behind the muzzle. I found filming in that setting perfect when you zoom in.
Unfortunately nnewer GoPros' now (10, 11, 12) can't do 1440p anymore, lowest resolution is 2.7k (for 4:3 ratio) which takes more space. However, the plus side is that the older generations (which still support 1440p on 4:3) are now cheaper and that 1440p can save you some space.✌
The lighting balance that shows the road and trees through the windshield and also shows the dash is hard to get with all the settings pre-set. Best dynamic range: GoPro, I agree.
@@TedwardDrives HI, quick question: where did you place your H2N in the car - or was it not important due to the Roland Binaurals doing their thing and all recording comes from the head-area?
thanks bro. This had some good tips. I just lost 30 minutes of excellent Mach E driving footage because my nose apparently tapped the screen and switched to slowmo. God speed.
"We're not worthy! We're not worthy!" Thanks for going to such great lengths to capture amazing footage and sound. I came here from your Porsche 911 POV video. Looking forward to coming back for more.
Just take off the top strap, mount the camera upside down (which will angle it down), and bring the camera down low. Works just as well and keeps the camera very stable. Can even mount small amount of foam on the main part of the mount that sits against your forehead to angle more depending on how tall you are.
Really good tips! Another good tip for people that don't want to wear a hat. Use the head strap with the center over the top strap removed, mount the GoPro upside down and angled down. Can easily get eye level view this way also and keep the camera very stable on your head. You can also use ND filters (Polar Pro makes great ones for GoPro) to maintain a 180 degree shutter speed during brighter days and get some nice motion blur in the passing scenery.
Ahhh it all makes sense now! I did the hat method a few times but it wasn't strapped on tightly enough. Filmed the Supra yesterday with the head strap but it was way too high. Thank you for letting me know about this video! Excited to watch more of your POV content.
Fantastic video man. I picked up many of these tips already from religiously watching this channel and the The Topher's. But you going through them in detail and sharing the secrets of your trade is an great gesture from you guys.
I've been looking for this video for my life. Thank you so much for the video. And hands down, the best looking gear setup for a POV. I can go live wearing this gear.
I honestly want to thank you so much for sharing this vid. I recently started making POV videos of my own, and this setup just works seamlessly. It was especially not easy to find a perfect angle shooting in 16:9, but shooting in 4:3 and cutting out unnecessary parts easily resolved the issue. One question: I found your recent videos are in 4K 60fps, but since Go pro only allows you to take up to 30fps in 4K 4:3 ratio, can I ask how you are achieving such resolution and framerate?
Hey Tedward, I’ve always been a huge fan of you and Topher’s videos and they’ve been the biggest inspiration for me to make my own videos. This video is what I’m using to start my own channel! Thank you for this.
Thank you sir for sharing this. I was going to ask Mr Topher on instagram of how to shoot a POV vids just like him and what his setup like. I am planning to do the same kind of vids. Thank you!

Thanks for sharing your secrets! I have found myself in the midst of a one in a billion opportunity and want to try and document some of it, if only for my own use. My oldest son is a musician (lead guitar for the Red Clay Strays) and one of their wonderful fans and benefactors is a fellow car enthusiast, specifically a Porsche enthusiast. He is in the process of sharing some very special cars with us (currently a 2019 GT3 Touring). I believe he is sending us a 993 turbo S next….. I just don’t want to rely on my memory alone. I didn’t believe it myself, until that GT3 drove up into our garage last month. I’m a believer now, there actually are some truly amazing people in this world, especially in the car world. People who appreciate our shared love of cars and driving. I’m torn between using a GoPro8 or an Insta360 to film these cars (GT3Touring; 993 Turbo s; 1974 Turbo; GT4RS; and a Singer).
Thank you I definitely learn something today for the last two weeks I've been making point of view videos using the head strap and all my videos suck which is why I haven't posted any of them yet. I'm going to use your technique today.
Thank you very much for the info, just started my own channel and this made my videos a lot better. Thank you very much ! It’s the best for Autobahn videos
Thanks dude. This is still relevant. I've done mine in my mustang the same way after seeing you and autotopNL in your rearview with the gopro clipped to the hat! I've also tried clipping to the rear or my cap so the camera is a bit more flush on my forehead!

2 years on, this is the only useful video helping. I'll do a video soon with my insta 360 one rs 4k and 1 inch Leica mod... I think it will be useful for some people
Dude, thats an amazing idea I will test for myself for photography POV. I always have issues to keep the Camera in front of the gopro. Hope this will improve my work. Thanks for sharing!
Very similar to my setup surprisingly. Although I have to say that the Hero 8 sound is not bad at all. I will probably replace my binaural setup with it to keep things simple as I don't run professional production like you. You can still use the head band if you take care of the angle. It's just that most people just put it on and drive. Then they are filming the headliner...
I did an interior sunroof suction cup mount and tilted the glass to capture some exhaust audio. It worked pretty well, I'll have to try a binaural set up sometime. Thanks for the tips!
ive seen a lot of FPV gun shooting can include a gopro mounted upside down since a lot of people dont wear a baseball cap, but a helmet instead. So if anyone doesn't have the clip on mount, but does have the headband, mounting upside down might be worth a try.
The GoPro is probably the best camera for this tipe of footage because of the small size, very good quality and stabilization(for a 400-500$ cam with this size), a lot of mounts, and you have choise where to put it for a diving, skiing, POV rides, Vlogs and everything. Yes, the DSLR is better for cinematic videos and night footage if you have a lightning, but the price is a lot more. For example, Sony A7 III is a great camera, but when you buy it and get 1 or 2 basic lens, light boxes and some other add ons, the price is 10 times more than 400-500$.
My man... you just solved the question no other POV TH-camr will answer. I just started this channel from my larger tech channel to branch out and I was trying to figure out how the hell they get the camera in the view without obstructing their vision. Thank you so much. I actually just bought a GoPro Hero 12 just to start this. I still have a question about the earbuds. You wear them while you drive? I'm trying to figure out how TH-camrs like MilesPerHr do it. He apparently uses the same ones... but in his other angle when it isn't the POV, he isn't wearing the earbuds (or mics) in his ears. I'm assuming maybe a wireless mic? That's all I got right now from my other TH-cam channel is a bunch of mics that's made for a sitting environment like the Rode NT-1. I also have a Rode Wireless Pro I guess I could use for now...
Great tips here! All is excellent, but I think the audio could be better. To improve audio, I'd suggest using a couple of external recorders with a high quality stereo condenser microphones. I think binaural is a bit of a gimmick as standard pro audio gear will beat them. Thanks for the excellent tips.

it is wild how good small cameras are. Not in terms of interface or build quality, but that they can deliver this level of video is insane.
