Can’t thank you enough. My 2014 jeep patriot has 139k miles on it and I don’t want to put anymore money in it. Winter just started here in Kentucky and this saved me without having to go see anyone. Thank you!
I wanted to thank you so much for this video. I bought the same part you showed off of Amazon, I followed your instructions easily and repaired it myself. This is quite an accomplishment for a 52 yro woman lol. I will say the hardest part was trying to screw in the screws of the new part. That took probably a good half hour and a lot of colorful metaphors, but hey, I have heat!! Thank you so much!
Bless you! Suffered half this winter w/ out the heater working, only to take a look, and what do you know! The cable wasn't even plugged in to turn the arm. Smh. You're awesome! Thanks for the informative vid!! Plugged the sucker in and BAM! Heater blew like Taco bell on a Sunday morning 🌄
MAN, YOU ARE AMAZING! SANTER AUTO REPAIR ROCKS. My 2017 Jeep Patriot had no interior heat, for three years now. I tuned into your SUPERB video and said to myself that your black plastic box with the white wand could be the issue. Followed your meticulous instructions. EVERY SCREW WAS REVEALED THAT YOU POINTED OUT. Added confidence because I am no car mechanic. I NEVER DO CAR REPAIR. With the assembly now visible, I determined the tubes were hot. My fingers felt the heat. I removed the black box FROM THE VEHICLE. I opened the black box in my kitchen. I pulled out all the gears from the box and lubricated them with machine oil. I then returned to the SUV and tested the unit by connecting the power cord. I STARTED THE JEEP AND ROTATED THE A/C KNOBS.. THE WAND MOVED! IT WORKS NOW. I HAVE HEAT AGAIN! ALL T H A N K S TO YOU!!! THUMBS UP!!! I SUBSCRIBE! THE BEST VIDEO OF IT'S KIND THAT SAVED ME SERIOUS $$$$$. I WISH YOU AND YOURS THE VERY BEST!
This video warmed my heart - and my hands and my feet! 2014 Jeep Patriot blowing nothing but cold, 30 mins later this video fixed it (and I'm no mechanic). THANK YOU!
No idea how you don't have a brazillion likes on this video!! I just got my part ordered for my 2011 Patriot. Your troubleshooting and the steps you took are awesome.
Thank you. Just completed my repairs thanks to your video. Very helpful & you probably saved me 300.00 bucks. My Air-conditioner wouldn't switch to hot. 2017 Jeep Patriot Sport. 😀😀😀😀🙂🙂🙂
GREAT VIDEO. Simple fix. Thanks for warming us up for the cold winter in MT. Just stuck; did not need a new one and also solved my solution when the blower was blowing hot air in summer. Stuck actuator. thanks!!! Mechanic originally diagnosed the car in the summer as needing a compressor. I was able to get the a/c working in the summer with just fiddling with the dial. But now I know the fix if it sticks in a hot or cold position again.
Thanks so much for this video, was just able to fix my Jeep. Was going to get the MOPAR part, but at 4-5 times the cost of the one you linked I went with the Dorman instead, hopefully it'll last ten years like the last one.
Hey thanks for the info!! I just now literary did this to my Jeep because it had the same issue and all I had to do was move that white piece in the back because it’s not functioning , well it worked and now I’ve got heat , thanks again you have save me lots of money on this repair !!! Can’t thank you enough :)
I've been trying to diagnose a friend's Jeep and really thought the core might be plugged. We're going to go this route and I'll follow up with success or failure for our cold air issue. Thanks for the video.
Thank you sooooo much for this video. I did exactly as you said and I now have heat 🙂 I was able to do it myself with the help of your video, the step by step instructions were amazing to follow! Thank you again!! It no longer makes a creaking sound as well 🙂🙂❤👍
Excellent video. Had the same issue on my 2017 Jeep Compass. He was right, lining this thing up is a witch. The whole process was smooth until it was time to line up and put in the new actuator.
Thank you for a good video, my 2016 patriot had no heat, turns out the arm was just stuck, but if I had taken it to a shop it would have been expensive.
Worked for me. Part instructions said use car scanner tool to calibrate. I didn't manage even though I tried so i just tried the AC and the motor blend door worked fine. Jeep Patriot 2015
Thanks for the video, before I removed mine, I gave it a few light taps with a nylon hammer. It started working again immediately. 😂 I’ll see how long it lasts, but I have heat now! 👍🏻
Dude I could pay you I would I took out my actuator and actually took it apart and a gear was stuck I plugged it back up and it was turning and I put it back in and now it works thank you so much bro
Thanks for an easy to follow video! Do you have one showing how to clear a clogged ac hose? My 2014 Jeep Patriot is spurting BOILING water on my right foot while driving, when I take a curve or turn. Passenger side floor is also getting soaked. It's not antifreeze. It's clear. Any guidance appreciated!!
Hi. Thanks for your video. I had no heat going somewhere in my Jeep today. I thought, man, now what. Well, I started my vehicle again and heard that actuator you talked about and got heat. I wonder if that part is going bad. I always wondered what that noise was up underneath.
Hey Tom, thank you for this video- I’m troubleshooting the exact same thing right now. Did you look at any of the commanded vs actual values of the actuator prior to this? I ask because the vehicle I have the values seem to move as they should.
Yes I did and the values didn’t agree on scan data. It’s possible you may have a broken blend door. The actuator will still move as commanded but the door will not. With the vehicle warmed up, remove the actuator and manually move the blend door to see if the heat output improves or not.
thanks for the video. what if i have hot air coming form driver side only and luke warm in the middle left vent and the two others (middle right cooler and passenger side near door cold) blowing cold air. all flapps up down deforst working ok?
This seems to match what I am having with my 2017 Compass Gen 2. But, I get heat in the morning OK. After work, I do not get heat. Just blows cool air, but I can smell something is heated in the air blowing into the cabin.
Have a click on my 2013 jeep patriot on my passenger side. Mobile mechanic replaced one but it stills click. I am assuming he replaced the one that was not broken.
I have a clicking noise coming from my lower front end when i put on air defrost or heat they all work fine its just the noise 2014 jeep patriot what do you think it is? Thanks mike mcgrath
So I have a "tech notes: installation" paper in the box for the air door actuator. Do I need to install a scan tool through the OBD-2 port for it to work? I don't recall you doing that in your video so don't know if that is necessary or just doing the steps you show in the video is all I need. Thanks!
No fancy scan tool required. Mine was plug and play. If yours doesn’t function properly, just unhook the battery terminals for ten minutes and hook em back up. You’ll hear the actuators doing their self learn and it’ll work.
Thank you so much Tom for this video, otherwise I would of had to take this to shop to get fixed. It took me roughly an hour to replace and now I have heat in my jeep! 😌
Ok so what happens when you need to fix someone elses jerry rig? Cause my 2009 patriot is missing this part and someone rigged it so that the dial turns to switch the valves but they took out the wire
Mine only blows hot air when driving + temp gauge goes up from middle to hot . Gauge goes to middle when drive (hot air) then gauge goes to hot (cold air). Any suggestions?
I often feel the same way! I’m currently repairing a Chevy truck with rusted fuel lines by running nylon fuel lines from the pump all the way to the engine. There was no usable fuel line left to splice into. Rusty vehicles are the worst!
Can’t thank you enough. My 2014 jeep patriot has 139k miles on it and I don’t want to put anymore money in it. Winter just started here in Kentucky and this saved me without having to go see anyone. Thank you!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
I had $600 worth of ‘fix’ that didn’t fix it.
You helped me fix the issue for around $20 for the part!! ❤
Thank you. I followed the video step by step. Fixed the issue on my jeep patriot in 10 minutes.
No idea how you don't have a brazillion likes on this video!! I just got my part ordered for my 2011 Patriot. Your troubleshooting and the steps you took are awesome.

Shasta, read my post above. Same issue. 2017 Jeep Patriot Latitude
You made this soooo easy. I’m not handy but was able to install this piece thanks to you! Thank you, thank you, thank you

This was perfect, thanks so much for this tip! Saved me a ton of money and time
This video helped me to change the blend door actuator with no issues, thanks for the easy explanation!

Dude! I have a car doing the same exact thing that needs repair. Thank you!
Thank you! Just fixed my Jeep Patriot using this video.

Thank you so much for this video, same exact process for my 2016 jeep compass!
Thank for your video. It makes me happy))) Winter is comming, but my Patriot is cold inside)) Thanks from Ukraine, Europe
Thank you for a good video, my 2016 patriot had no heat, turns out the arm was just stuck, but if I had taken it to a shop it would have been expensive.
I’m going to attempt this on a 2015 Jeep Patriot tomorrow, or on Thursday 🤷🏽♂️ The part just came in today. Thank you for this video.
Worked for me. Part instructions said use car scanner tool to calibrate. I didn't manage even though I tried so i just tried the AC and the motor blend door worked fine. Jeep Patriot 2015
You are a life saver man, my compass is doing this and I had no idea why. Especially bad because I live in an area that gets to -20F in the winter 🥶
Hi I’m having the issue with my compass too. Did this solution look the same for compass as it does for this model? Thank you
Yes, it worked for me on my 2017 Jeep Compass. I had water coming on the inside that probably shorted out the actuator. @@LiamTML
Thanks for the video, before I removed mine, I gave it a few light taps with a nylon hammer. It started working again immediately. 😂 I’ll see how long it lasts, but I have heat now! 👍🏻
Exactly what I was looking for! Couldn't for the life of me figure out the heat.
Thank you very much...from Romania !
This really helped me, thank you so much!
This was the issue!! Thanks so much - saved my dad lots of $$ - and it was easier to fiddle with than a PC!
Rowrrrrrrrrrr!
@@nutknowledge hrrhrrrrr
Thank for your video, same exact process for my jeep compass 2014 . Thank from Ukraine !
Dude I could pay you I would I took out my actuator and actually took it apart and a gear was stuck I plugged it back up and it was turning and I put it back in and now it works thank you so much bro
Brilliant fix!
Changing mine out tonight. Thank you so much!
Love how they said the customer needed a new heat core. Isn’t that just crazy. Someone always trying to scam us haha. Good work my man.

Thank you so much!! Great explanation, this video is useful also for Jeep Compass MY14
Thank you we went out today and no heat just cold air

That’s likely the issue! Pretty easy fix too.
Thanks very nice work. I have a 2009 B M W 750Li .The windows get very fogy if on hot side. the air doesn,t go to fronrt windshield.💌
Thank you!!!!!!
Good information

I will send this to my mobile mechanic.
Do you have any recommendations on Jeep Patriot 2016, that wasn’t made with the air conditioner. On how to install that or where to start??
The screw holes are broken on the front panel of heater when you pull it out?
Cold air, 2016 year. I need to first test both hoses going into vehicle. Stay tuned, need to order temp gun.
Is this the same setup for a 15 Jeep Compass?
Having very similar issues.

@Tomsfoolery. okay, wish me luck. I will be attempting this process once I get off work today lol
Thank you so much Tom for this video, otherwise I would of had to take this to shop to get fixed. It took me roughly an hour to replace and now I have heat in my jeep! 😌
Can't put that cover on do I need it???
Didn't have to replace the actuator box, just lubricate the track. When it gets dried out then it will stick and stop sliding back and forth.
Ok so what happens when you need to fix someone elses jerry rig? Cause my 2009 patriot is missing this part and someone rigged it so that the dial turns to switch the valves but they took out the wire
What’s the little “hand” that’s on the actuator called?? For some reason I can’t find the part.
Any reason why my 16 patriot has an ac issue where it doesn’t get cold sometimes and sometimes it does turn on blowing full cold air.
Jeep Compass North heater brackets broken stopping the connection
So you don't need to remove the bolt up there, I was trying to remove the bolt.
My 2013 jeep patriot latitude does not throw out heat.
I had a click on passenger side. Mobile mechanic joshua replaced one. I still hear click on passenger side.
👏👏
My heat don't turn on. My 2 pipes are extremely hot when I touched them. So it has to be the actuator.
Mine only blows hot air when driving + temp gauge goes up from middle to hot . Gauge goes to middle when drive (hot air) then gauge goes to hot (cold air). Any suggestions?
That cover is where I got stuck.
Thats the part I have.
What year is this vehicle

If I was a mechanic i would never fixed a nasty car for anyone
I often feel the same way! I’m currently repairing a Chevy truck with rusted fuel lines by running nylon fuel lines from the pump all the way to the engine. There was no usable fuel line left to splice into. Rusty vehicles are the worst!
