They tell a funny story about this shoot. The prop team just put all these random items on the table, and the band was told to just pick up things and interact with them. That’s why it seems so, well, random. Also, there were props people on lifts above the set just tossing random things into the shot. Each time they had to reset and reshoot, they had to come down and collect all the items they’d toss, and start again.
The theme of this video was supposed to be Steampunk meets Mad Hatter's Tea Party meets The Sound of Music. I think they pulled it off pretty well. Kirstie got a chance to show off her musical theater background in this one. I don't know why seeing her play so joyfully with a toy airplane makes me so happy! All of the "favorite things" were just random objects placed around the table by the set decorator, and the video director told them to just pick up what was closest to them and react to it. Scott picked up the skull!!
'Come Along' is another quirky upbeat one. And I don't think you've done anything from their Original album they released this year. They just released a deluxe version of it with a few new tracks. There's no video as of yet, but 'Anchor' is absolutely stunning! The whole album is 🔥 Love it when you guys do PTX! This one was a fun one! Scott with the skull cracks me up every time😂😂
The items they picked up were just whatever was closest, per the group. Mitch thinks it might have been someone's participation trophy from something lol.
Also, Pentatonix is known for their Christmas albums, and they're running out of Christmas songs! So they've been putting a lot of Christmas-adjacent songs on their holiday albums. The have to keep their bread and butter going!
The 'oscar' that Mitch was holding was their Sing Off trophy, I think (but maybe not!). They won that show as a group 10 years ago. The Sing Off videos are worth a watch, to see how they started. Mitch, Scott and Kirstin sang together in High School, but when they wanted to try out for the Sing Off show they found Avi (via a friend) and Kevin (they saw him on TH-cam). They only all met as a five the day before the audition, got chosen for the show, then had to use the short time between audition and the filming starting to get to know each other and figure out their sound. You can see them improving rapidly through the course of the competition, although they were great to start with. Mitch, Scott and Kirstin were 19 at the time. Kevin and Avi were very early 20s.
I don't think it was the Sing Off trophy. There were just a bunch of objects sitting around the table placed there by the set decorator, and the video director told the members to pick up whatever was closest to them and react to it.
Great reaction! Since you liked this, you'd probably enjoy their video Making Christmas. It's a song from Tim Burton's movie The Nightmare Before Christmas, and their take on it is very creative. You noticed a piece of cloth falling on Matt's chair- I heard that there was a guy high up on a lift above them, who was dropping all kinds of cloth pieces around them as part of the video. They said it was a pain that every time they had to do a new take, they had to wait for the crane to lower the guy, for him to pick up all the things he dropped and do it all again.
Thank you for reacting to this amazing Pentatonix video. Glad that you liked it. It's very nice having you back reacting to Pentatonix. For something different, please react to the video for their original song "A Little Space" featuring KPop group ATEEZ.
This one is so funny! Kirstie sounds for all the world like Julie Andrews, but there’s no other trace of Sound of Music here! Looks more like Halloween than Christmas to me.
They released a bunch of new songs in the past few weeks. Go to their channel and check them out. See which one you'd like to react to. I think they are all good. Many of them are originals. Thank you for your reaction. I always enjoy your banter and comments regarding PTX videos. Keep them coming!
The whole thing is gorgeously bizarre. The makeup is elegant horror show, and Kirstin's attack on the tune is weirdly aggressive. And what is all over the front of Mitch's frock coat? I understand that the set decorators just scattered whatever they fancied all over the table, and the group was instructed to each pick up something and play with it.

One of the most innovative takes on this song ever made. Never a surprise when it's PTX, but such a pleasure to watch. Thanks for the reaction to it!

I love the juxtaposition of Scott with the skull and Matt with the teddy bear!
OMG Yes to Anchor - it's beautiful! And Come Along is such a catchy, happy, upbeat cover.
It’s Different Now is a beautiful ballad.

I call this"Relentlessly cheerful Kirstin makes her four goth brothers sing with her."
They are a most entertaining group. Creative with imagery as well as voices.
This was a great reaction good to see this one being reacted to thank you 🙂
In the US this song is a sort of Christmas song, because the movie used to air on TV during the holidays.

@@larrywt656 Looking at it again, I think you are right. It is about the right size, but the wrong shape!
One of my favorites! Love that they went Halloweenish with it!
Brilliant! I love this for taking us out of the familiar setting and showing a bit more of what else they are capable of. Thanks for posting.

Love it! Nice job mates.

I wonder if this wasn't a carryover from The Nightmare Before Christmas skit they did?
Great reaction. Recommend their Rather Be, Say Something, Shallow, Come Along, It’s Different Now, and Seasons Of Love (televised version).
