I usually put 36 quail eggs in there, I get about 3 that dont hatch. I place the smallest eggs together. I later modified my own egg turner to fit 46 eggs.
on our first batch, 2 hatched out of 16, but 1 of the quails that hatched had its insides sticking out and died shortly after. Because we felt bad for the quail, not having any siblings, we bought some new quail eggs and 6 hatched out of 24.
Thats what I'm afraid may happen to the eggs my mom is hatching. I bought this thing for her and so most of the eggs are developing but shes gonna be heartbroken if any of the baby chicks are born and die that way. Hoping I can get many tips from others to avoid all that from happening.
Candling quail eggs is supereasy. Here is what you do. When day 14 comes and you get ready for lockdown, you turn of the lights in the room and move the lid to the side of the incubator. Turn on the light in the incubator and put the egg on the candler. If the egg is completely transparent like a lightbulb you can be sure that the egg was not fertile or did not develop, discard those eggs. If there is any eggs you are unsure about you can mark them and leave them in. This way you can know that if they haven't hatched by a couple of days after they were scheduled to hatch you can just discard them. Trying to candle quail eggs before day 14 is futile, especially for beginners.
Since the NR 360 doesn't have a quail egg turning disc, a father/son team did a disk for small eggs with a 3D printer!!! (I was binge watching utube, and no, I don't have the thread!) but it's a great idea. I'm surprised the mfg. hasn't done it.
@@themillershomestead as I understand it when you go to lockdown the eggs should touch each other as it apparently gets the party started. I'm going to do a CNC one off for pheasant egg sizes. Auto-Cad to the rescue!!
Congratulations on your first hatch! My first hatch only yielded one chick out of 9, unfortunately. I used a different incubator though and I think the humidity gotten too high. I did go buy this incubator and have put 9 Buff Orpington eggs and 2 Rhode Island Red eggs in it so we'll see how it goes! I might suggest you move your heat lamp to one side or the other so the cute little quail have a cool zone to go to if they get to hot. You may have convinced me to get quail. I'd like to try them for meat and eggs. Where did you get your hatching eggs for them? Again, congratulations!
Thanks! I actually got my eggs from my own birds outside. I got the birds from Hatch Poultry, but I think they were bought out recently and I'm not sure if they offer quail any longer and also I know a lot of people had customer service issues with them, but I never had a problem. How did your buff and RIR eggs turn out?
Here’s a tip before you help them out wet the crack with warm water, the veins will show so when ur peeling it you can make sure you don’t accidentally cut the vein Bc if you do it’ll bleed out n die, other then that good job I have 7 quail rn and I have 23 eggs in the incubator it’s day 4 rn
75 humidity is good! Nothing above that though. Nothing below 20% before day 15 and nothing below 60% to higher than 75% for lockdown. I always leave the birds in til they are dry or atleast 24-36 hours the ruckus will make the other eggs hatch out. 🎉
Can you give me advice, I really don't know what to do. I have put some chicken eggs and quail eggs the same time in the incubator, thinking it wouldn't matter... Should I increase humidity but not too much (lower end) so it can match a little bit with the chicken eggs?
You probably could, but I'm not sure if I would incubate at the same time. The two different birds have different incubation periods and lockdown starts on different days. Ie, you need to stop turning qual eggs on the 14th day but chicken eggs need to keep turning until the 19th day
Great video. Thank you Question: how do I learn humane euthanasia? Is it the same as dispatching an adult for meat? I’m raising some now but I will be doing my own incubation soon. I have the 360 with another on the way as a backup During my 24 hour test run I have trouble getting my humidity up over 45. I’m in Hawaii. .any suggestions?
I want to hatch Bobwhite quail, but when I read the questions and answers of the product it said that for quail eggs you have to turn them manually. Is that not true according to your video? It will turn quail eggs?
I might have turned them manually a few times (can't remember for sure), but I would try to make sure I see them turn at least once a day with the turner. (if not I would press thee button to make them turn)
My local Tractor Supply actually had wil game feed non gmo so I got that and ground it up for them for the first few days. They don't have that feed anymore so I just give them regular Chick Starter which has a higher protein level.
All birds insides are out of there body in the egg you don’t want to help them to much because it takes a long time for them to pull there insides into there body before they come out of the egg if they come out to fast they won’t have time to pull in there insides
When those eggs turn from one side they need to end up on the exact opposite side and if they do not they will not develop properly. In the old days you would mark one side of the egg and then the other to know exactly how much to turn the egg and even if you use an automatic turner it pays to have a marker on the eggs to know where they are left after being turned.
@@edersonsantos98 I am a first timer with this so I wonder why the instructions say 3 times a day? I'll have to pay closer attention because I've pushed the plus and minus buttons to manually turn because of that.

@@heatherherrmann1777 3 times a day would be far too less according to studies done on turning bird eggs. 24 times a day, or around that mark gives the best hatch rate, while it will decrease gradually if the eggs are turned less.
I don't care how much you know about anything, but, whoever Rudy is, when you were so RUDY to her, "I'm trying to make a video here" how self-centered, maybe you should go back to a real job and see how far that self centered attitude gets you out there!😂👎😊

Thanks for the video. I bought that incubator for my quail eggs. I was nervous about the incubator but feel better now:)

Perhaps it rotates A BIT once an hour which makes up 1 complete revolution 3x day (?).
I'm going to be using this again in the spring to hopefully get a better idea of how it works haha but it worked well the first time!
Patent is recommending 3% hydrogen peroxide wash, possibly makes more oxygen available, as per another TH-camr.
Does anyone know if a temp of 102-103 is to high??? I have a bad method of incubation so it’s a little to high or cold on and off each hour or so
Too high

Do the newly hatched chicks need vaccines or something?
No, if you are raising your own backyard flock vaccines are not necessary if you maintain good bird and coop hygiene
