It didn't matter to me that I knew all of this information. I was so incredibly impressed at your efficiency in introducing so much useful information that I watched this video through until the end. No time wasted here. This is the type of video that makes me subscribe to a channel!
Awesome! Love to hear that, Jay!
agreed
@@Elczupakadra1 Thanks so much! 😀
Excellent tutorial, with not one wasted word. I like lessons like this, small bites that don't overwhelm. Nice job!
Thanks so much! Glad to hear you liked it!
This was SO helpful! I'm a beginning Assistant Principal and charged with overseeing schoolwide attendance data - this was exactly what I needed to help me sort and organise! Thank you so much for the tutorial!
Great information! I knew most of the features that you showcased but I was happy to learn a couple of new things. :) My next steps are to learn how create percentages based on a series of marks (including checkboxes) and the IF feature, e.g. convert that % into a letter grade. These are a couple of things I saw in another video on how to use (but didn't provide a how-to make yourself) a particular company's purchased units from TPT which include Sheet assessments. I am not purchasing, thus I need to learn how to do myself lol
I have always been intimidated by Sheets and Excel. This video was a game changer! I see so many possibilities and will be applying several of these tasks immediately. Your channel has increased my productivity as an educator. Big thanks!
Love to hear that! You're very welcome!
me too girl!!!
I'm a retired teacher, but I still like to watch your tips on using various apps. This one was just what I needed when I was teaching but is also useful to me now. As usual, you have done an excellent job!
I appreciate that Corby!
nice tutorial! drop downs are a great win in Google sheets.
personally I prefer creating a separate worksheet for drop down options and use the data validation > select from range option.
what's nice is to put the range to be the whole column in the options worksheet and then I can quickly add or remove options (or fix typos) without having to open the dialogue menu 😊
Great tip Mike! Yeah the drop downs are such a simple way to make the spreadsheet so much more functional and professional looking.
Super! I use sheets often and knew many things you outlined in the first few minutes....but then I learned a LOT more - so thanks for that!
One challenge I have - and it happens often - even if I already had things like text wrap, vertical align (center of cell), etc for the whole sheet, it doesn't always work when entering new info. It seems to divert back. Make sense? Would appreciate thoughts/solution.
Mostly just using sheets to keep up with random lists of stuff, and to learn how it works so I can use it for more important things down the road. Thanks for keeping it short and getting straight to the point! I'm definitely saving this somewhere so I can look back at it when I need it.
This is a great video. I feel that I don't use Sheets as much because, much like excel, I find it a bit intimidating. This made it much easier to understand. I will be saving this to look back at frequently. Thank you so much.
Awesome! Glad to hear that!
I like the way you put this video together. It's a bit more "fun" than a typical spreadsheet video. Nice work.
Thanks so much! That's what we were going for so glad to hear that feedback :)
me too i love the funny pictures its so engaging
Now that I'm starting as a secretary I've been floded with work. I choosed google sheets to organize the organization's log.
Thanks to you now I've learned some tips that have made my life easier. TSYM!!👍👍
Good luck in the new secretary role!
Wow, this is amazing! I'm going to be so prepared this year. Last school year was my first year as team leader, and this knowledge is going to be an entire game changer.
Right on Rebekah! Happy spreadsheeting :)
THANK YOU x 1, 000!! I have lost track on how many times that I have gone to your videos for a tutorial on "x" topic. I love your instructional style and your straight-forward approach to helping viewers understand technology. Additionally, your great sense of humor always makes me laugh!! :) Mil gracias!
Thank YOU for this amazing comment, Allison!
This is the best! All that in just under 10 minutes, I feel more comfortable with Google Sheets. I can’t wait to use what I learned here. Thank you so much🤩
Awesome to hear Naduella!
I love it when I find the most comprehensive and simple explanations. THANK YOU!!
So glad you found it helpful! 👍🏼
I'm super enjoying this lesson and actually doing it while he's there demonstrating all of this. Goodness I am so thankful I found your video, this is really helpful in doing my inventory!
So great to hear it Monica!
I am brand new to google sheets and this was so helpful! I am trying to use google sheets for inventory tracking for a new Etsy shop.
Great video. Note that Data Validation can come with its own coloring directly so there isn't really a need to apply conditional formatting on top of that.
And adding Filters is also a good way to group together columns.
For some reason, I cannot do the dropdown box like you instructed at 3:30. When I click Data Validation, it just adds data validation rule to the right sidebar, but does not give me the same options in this video. :(
What the heck?! This was such a great and well-made video! I'm trying to learn Sheets for the first time because the thought of being able to log down literally ANYTHING I want is such a great skill I envy.
This helped out a lot. I really never used sheets since I never had any use for them, but in my new job I do need to know and this just showed me what I needed to know!!!! Thank you!!!
Right on Juan! Happy spreadsheeting 👍🏼
OH MY GOSH! I can't believe I just learned how to create a Google Sheet! I feel so accomplished! Your video is amazing and just enough to get me started! Thanks a million! Your video was worth the million times I replayed it to follow you step by step! You're the best! Thanks from Chicago😀!!!
You did it Maria! Happy spreadsheeting :)
You mentioned around 20 things in this video but somehow you taught me 27 new things 😁🤯. Thank you for the simplicity of it all.
Ha! Right on :)
Can you please make a tutorial on how to make this data into graphs without displaying student names? Please? And great job as always! I love your tutorials.
You taught me in 10mins what I couldn't learn in 3 MONTHS in class, thank you
Ha! Glad you found it helpful Sheena!

Thank you! I was able to use these suggestions right away. It was a well-paced video
This was the best ever!!!!! I finally feel like I can actually do it! Thank you!
Thanks for your great content. Im new to sheets. I have created a pricing calculator for HVAC equipment. Its simply calculates the subtotal, taxes and final total for the entered equipment pricing. I would like to share this, not as a shared document, but as individual, stand alone calculators for anyone who has a copy. They should be able to manipulate the fillable cells without affecting anyone else's copy. Is this possible?
Excellent ! I can see some other uses for tracking in Google Sheets such as billing for English classes, forming groups... you are awesome !
Definitely!
I knew some of these but your presentation style is quite nice and engaging! Love your floating head and use of muppet samping!
Glad you liked it Babak! 🙏🏼 I need to use my puppet more often!
Nice tutorial, if you can cover some more functionalities like this, it will help a lot. Thanks again for all your super videos.
You're very welcome!
great video, thank you
Thank you so much for sharing this informative learning. I will definitely apply this in my future sheets task.
You're welcome!
Incredible videos!!
Can I please ask, how did you get the video of yourself talking with no background?? What program did you use?
Hey Bryn! I used a green screen and a program called Screenflow. It's about $100 and has a bit of a learning curve.

Thank you, earned a subscriber. Is there a way to create a %. For example somebody does something 100 times and may get 2 wrong, is there a way for me to set rules that turns the % a colour when a certain percentage is hit?
Hey ProfSport! Yes you can use percentages in Sheets. Here's a page with more info on it - spreadsheetpoint.com/calculate-percentage-in-google-sheets/
you are the best

Your video was helpful. Thank you for sharing!.
Is there a way I can change the highlight colour and line thickness to show the current cell.
The current blue outline is proving quite hard for me to see.
thanks !
Hey Brian! This reply is super late! There is a cell border option to make those changes. You can see more about it here - www.customguide.com/google-sheets/google-sheets-borders
@@NewEdTechClassroom Thank you for your reply. I actually know about the 'normal' border options ... it was actually the highlight border that I would like to change, the one to show which cells I have pointed to / grouped together .. it's a very feint blue at the moment.
Regards from the UK
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS VIDEO! THANK YOU FOR SMALL HILARIOUS TOUCHES.
I have a sheet that imports data from 2 different sheets through import range formula. The data appears in A1:A10 from one sheet and B1:B:10 from the other. We want to be able to type in any field without affecting the formula on the first row, which is import range. Is there a way of doing that. We want to be able to write over cells that are left blank, but with a formula on top we can't. Is that even possible?
Thank you so much. I was wondering how to create this type of tracker. I really enjoyed your pop-ups. Can you create a video on how to add pop-ups? Thank you
We use Adobe Premiere Pro to make our videos, and the pop ins are images we're bringing in during video editing. Glad you enjoyed them!
holy Sh*t. you learn something new everyday
2024 I used a lot of this information TODAY. Thank you for such a well-done and concise video!
One of the best tutorials ever! You don’t waste time with small talk!
Glad you found it helpful Mister!
OMG thanks sooo much! my sheets look so much better, and it didn't take a week to fix!!! I subscribed !!
When I’m in sheets on my iPad I have to click the edit pencil for every cell I click. Is there a way to have it in edit mode the entire time I work on it?
I haven't used Sheets on my iPad very much but here is a tutorial that may be helpful - th-cam.com/video/D19fCuwEvzM/w-d-xo.html
how does google sheets to multiple freezes with different title rows? in other words I have two sets of data to compare each have their own title row so I need the "A1" row frozen and also the "A25" row frozen and they are not adjacent
@NewEdTechClassroom can you please tell us what are tools you used to produce (recording, editing, ... ) this video? I want to send out videos for my clients with these tools. Thank you so much 🙂
