The song is part of the patriotic marches of the Federal State of Austria (period of the history of Austria from 1919 to 1938. It was an Authoritarian State created with the objective of freeing Austria from the Communists and Nazis, besides making the Roman Catholic Church the official religion from the country).
Put here the video in honor of the Austrian Chancellor, Engelbert Dollfuß, a great leader and Catholic, murdered by the Nazis this week in 1934.

Alter Schwede, daß ich das weit nach meinem 5. Lebensjahr nochmal anhören darf.... 😄 Damals drosch das mein Vater mit seinen "Homies" mit Harmonika und Mandolinen jeden Freitag rauf und runter, bis die Bude bebte und die Rumflasche Halbzeit machte... 😆 Danach kamen unweigerlich " Hoch Heidecksburg" und "Die wacht am Rhein" dran. Sowas kriegt man nie wieder im Leben.

The Federal State of Austria (as authoritarianism) was not from 1919 to 1938, but from 1934 to 1938.
@Shrimpy Boy I thought it was before the civil war, when dollfuss became Diktator and declared war against the socialists.
@@leutnantmike02 Dollfuss had dictatorial powers before the civil war, but those weren’t absolute yet. Also he never „declared war on the socialists“ instead he began raiding their paramilitary headquarters all over Austria until they began an armed uprising in February of 1934 which was suppressed by the army and paramilitary forces. The federal state of Austria was proclaimed on may 1st 1934

@@AEIOU05 Renner ruined Austria 3 times, I can't believe he's still considered a hero by many people. He forced the emperor to leave the throne, so he's at fault for the first republic which was generally just shit. Then when the Nazis invaded he publically said he supports the Anschluss and that people should vote yes and then the Nazis kept paying him and he had a nice few years (while the Christian social politicians like Schuschnigg and Figl got sent to KZ for their resistance). And then after the war he created another republic and he made a deal with Stalin and let the communists into the government...

Truly a man of our time, we didn’t listen to his warning
Italy, strategically allied with Vienna, abandoned Schuschnigg because Mussolini was afraid of Hitler and it was opportune to be allied with Germany before the Anschluß. The july putsch failed because Mussolini promised to send troops helping Engelbert and exorted Hitler not to annex the country.
It was in some way britain's fault, mussolini felt that italy was isolated after being embargoed.

@@cornisland1936 During the Austro-Hungarian Empire the Polish city of Lwów (nowdays Lwiw) was part of the Empire and it was known as Lemberg.
That's why we Hungarians in Transcarpathia (nowdays part of Ukraine.....yet) still call it Lemberg.
