- The "Badonviller-Marsch" or germanized Badenweiler Marsch(AM II, 256) is a Bavarian military march by composer Georg Fürst (1870-1936).

It was the battle of Gravelotte (18th August 1870) between Prussian-Saxon forces and the French army. Here Moltke’s Germans suffered heavy casualties in their repeatedly failed attacks on the French position. However, it was due to the French commander’s incompetence and the outflanking movement of German reinforcements that eventually brought a decisive defeat to the French army.

Agreed! It's called "Tod des Majors von Hadeln" by Carl Röchling from 1870.
It shows the battle of Gravelotte was part of the German - French war.
This was Hitler's favorite march. The NS would play it whenever he made a personal visit. It was also adopted by the LSAH SS as their official march.
I thought his favorite was Der Königgrätzer Marsch

It wasn't really his favourite march. He just said he liked it once and they played it for him incessantly until he bacame quite miffed.

Actually, if not for its fan in the 40ies, I would be the EMS/paramedic/field surgeon international anthem. Its theme is that of the western front ambulances of WW1. Listen again and you hear them.

This is a realistic painting which appears to not water down any historical accounts whatsoever. This March sounds like a celebration from a battle.

Im Original heißt er eigentlich "Badonviller-Marsch" (mit Bindestrich!)
Korrekt. Wurde nur etwas eingedeutscht. Ist in übrigen auch nur so zu nennen wie du es gesagt hast.
Die Bundeswehr z.b darf ihn nur Spielen wenn sie ihn unter diesem Namen nennt. Ansonsten nicht, Zeit das zu ändern.

Baden is in the Southwest on the Rhine which forms the French border there, while Bavaria encompasses the Southeast (historically also only south of the Danube, Franconia isn't really Bavarian)

So people who play this song in Germany get hated on, because Adofl Hitler is reputed to have liked it. Adolf Hitler also liked wholemeal bread and vegetarian dishes. How come people eating those in today's Germany aren't ostracized? Don't get me wrong, I certainly have no love for Hitler or the Nazi ideologies. But we should occasionally take a step back from our opinons and peeves and examine them critically. If we reject things, we should at least be sure we reject them for the right reasons.

I finally found the song!!! I heard it in a video showing germany in 1936-1938 and with this song starting and ending the video but I could not find the name until now by accident

Meines Wissens nach ist der Marsch badisch, nicht bayrisch. Liegt ja auch nahe mit BADENweiler, das zudem in Baden liegt.
Falsch, gemeint ist die Gemeinde Badonviller. Die liegt in Lothringen. Bitte nicht mit dem deutschen Badenweiler verwechseln. Das ist eine andere Baustelle.
