Same here. The 90’s and early 00’s were awesome times. I was born in 1993, and I still remember all the great shows that were on TV. My mom and I watched this almost every night this was on. When we heard Fremantle bought the rights to the show back in I believe 2018, we were both ecstatic! When we heard about a reboot of the show, we saw one of the episodes, and it wasn’t as good as the original. As they say, nothing beats the classics.
Anyone else upset that they didn't bring this theme back? New one's don't fit at all. EDIT: According to Chris Rhyne (composer of this masterpiece), this was put together with an Akai MPC. Dave Koz (the guy playing the saxophone) also did several different solos for potential use. The one's you're hearing were the one's Rhyne liked. Chris Rhyne also did the synth for the 1984-91 Jeopardy! theme, but that was done on a Prophet 5 synth. Rhyne also did the Wheel of Fortune "Changing Keys" theme and was the piano player for The Merv Griffin Show.
Oh yes this version should have been brought back with new version. I watched maybe 30mins of it and just couldn't get into of the new show. There are somethings you don't change with classic shows.
No freaking way, this is genius !! I thought it would be a sound module for the MIDI/synth stuff like a CM64 or JV1010 and the acoustic instruments done separate

I absolutely love this theme, however the musician in me loves this song in the key of G in the beginning and again in the end, rather than the key of E in the middle. The saxophone goes better in G than E. But I'm just splitting hair now hahaha.
I wish they brought this music back for the reboot, along with a better host and maybe have George Gray or someone around that caliber to be the announcer during the shopping run part. The reboot just looks too ghetto and lost a lot of the original charm.

I would be grateful if anyone who appreciated my music would write letters to the producers about the ridiculous “music” on the new version. Good news. The supermarket sweep game show is now on Buzzer network, which it's over the air broadcast. Its 7 days a week, and 5 days a week in the weekday mornings.
When the series started on PAX on April 3, 2000, I was 7 years and 4 months. When it aired for the last time on March 26, 2004, I was 11 years and 3 months.
Many times I have dreamed of doing exactly what this show asked. "Go ahead! Run wild through our aisles, because everything in this supermarket.. is free!" I really hope someone has enough sense to revive this one day.
I remember every night my mom and I watched this on PAX. Such a great show that got you on the edge of your seat, and hoping someone would win the 5,000. I saw the new version, and it’s not as hype as the old version

i totally thought this was Korg M1 and a Roland JV synth
Now that I listen to it, it does sound like the "Magic Piano" setting on the Korg M1.

Good news. The supermarket sweep game show is now on Buzzer network, which it's over the air broadcast. Its 7 days a week, and 5 days a week in the weekday mornings.
When the series started on PAX on April 3, 2000, I was 7 years and 4 months. When it aired for the last time on March 26, 2004, I was 11 years and 3 months.
Remember, next time you are waiting in line at the checkout and you hear the beep. (Beep Beep) Think of all the fun you can have on Supermarket Sweep!

In 2000, they used a special version of the 1990 theme for the opening, due to the show's 10th anniversary, but kept this 1993 theme on the closing.

Many times I have dreamed of doing exactly what this show asked. "Go ahead! Run wild through our aisles, because everything in this supermarket.. is free!" I really hope someone has enough sense to revive this one day.
Fremantle has actually bought the format rights from Al Howard and are planning a revival for sometime in the future.

I think this version was first used for the fourth season. It's the same basic melody, but the instrumental arrangement is different.
This theme is super catchy - wish ION would be interested in bringing this show back although I doubt it since they're no longer PAX.

I remember every night my mom and I watched this on PAX. Such a great show that got you on the edge of your seat, and hoping someone would win the 5,000. I saw the new version, and it’s not as hype as the old version

there was a canadian version of this show as watched it here in canada everyday on global toronto channel 12.

I was 9 by then, turning 10 in July. Then the series ended when I was probably 11 or 12. The 2002 episodes continued to air until the series ended in 2004; that's when I was 13 or 14.
