Excellent vid - thank you. My front bearings have just died after 4,500 miles, which doesn't seem like a lot. It looks like Fulcrum brought out an upgraded seal called DRP seal, which adds extra protection - the cost about a fiver.

I have the Fulcrum racing 400 which do not have the large washers. On the side with the 2.5 mm lock ring there is a small spacer (.5 mm x 17.2 mm ID x 20.7mm OD) between the bearing and the cap, but everything else is the same as described. Thanks. Very helpful.

Great tutorial. Clear, patient and thorough. I just received my bearings of Ebay (UK) and they were supposed to be correct for post 2015 Fulcrum Racing 5. They are marked '6903RS' so not quite as yours were numbered. I trust they will be right. One way of finding out.....

I am replacing my cheap Fulcrum Racing 5 wheel bearings which really didn't last long - months only. (Bearings used by parent company Campagnolo on my Campag wheels last 1000 times longer). I had read years ago that new cartridge bearings quite often are generic and not greased properly for bike wheels and the extreme impact and torsional loads involved. My new replacements from Ebay were definitely compatible but I thought I would check inside before installing. Sure enough, there was very little grease in each (of the 4) with lots of voids and it was of a thin gelatine like consistency. I took off seals and have packed them both sides full of Motorex 'Bike Grease 2000' . Heavy duty and extremely water resistant grease. These will last a lot longer this time.

    Great tutorial! Thanks.
I keep seeing a Fulcrum Racing 5 and a cheaper Racing 500. However the specs seem identical.
Can someone clear this up for me?

Hi Found this video as I need to replace my bearings. Got some 6903 bearing from a bearing/engineering supplier, but they don't fit. The original bearing in the wheel is 6903 (printed on it) but a different inside diameter. Have you seen this before?

    • @FreeToCycle

      The bearing should be 17x30x7mm

Used this video as reference to order bearings for mine DB6, and fu**d upp.
Before ordering these I searched at many places and 61903-2RS (which is exact label on my bearings) was nothing else but 30*17*7. So I was happy receiving them, but after installing into the hub I found out that axle can't get through 30*17*7 bearings (6903).. Googled for longer and found out that 30*18*7 is the right size. They sold at bike24 or bikeinn as a set. Please be careful, and ideally measure your bearings before ordering replacement. Good luck everyone!

I've got fulcrum 6.5 and it doesn't have that 2.5mm adjuster/ lock ring? Mine has a small amount of play so do i have to just knock the bearings out to replace them? Its a 2017' Focus cayo evo.

Hi. Could you do the same thing for racing 5 DB's? Or tell me how it works? I presume it isn't the same as for Racing 5's? I have racing 4DB's and the front bearing needs looking at. Removing the 12mm thru axle adaptor and the bearing pre-loader (2.5mm allen key thing) is no problem. But the axle doesn't slide out. Something must be holding it. I'm not hitting it with a rubber mallet unless I know I should. Nothing on Fulcrum's criminally useless youtube "maintenance" video channel at all for their disc brake wheels. It's the bike industry, after all. Thanks for these anyway.
