Hello, I have been flying a sports cub s2 for a while now, I have a 1.2 twin otter from e flite laying around my room, should I jump to that, or what plane would you recommend?
I started off about 20 years ago with a precedent t180 with a thunder tiger engine, built it from a kit, flew it for years but then kind of forgot about rc planes as I grew up, now after seeing this video, it's making me want to get another plane, i didnt realise how cheap they have become!
I here you, after the kids have grown and are now gone I have some time to myself again I am rediscovering the sport also and I agree much more affordable than it used to be.
I started flying less then a year ago with the aeroscout, it’s the perfect beginner plane. I’ve progressed quickly and I’m already flying EDF’s. Thanks Nate and Abby for all your awesome videos and reviews! I’ve learned alot from you guys. Have a Very Merry Christmas!
You guys are why I love TH-cam! You’re so enthusiastic about flying and give great info on planes. I clearly know NOTHING about them and have decided on a Sport Cub
It has never been easyer than now to start into this very very beautiful Hobby 🙂 Thanks to all stabilyzer systems. 30 years ago it sometimes it was quite hard to start 🙂
I sold all my planes and cars, into watching grass grow now. Just kidding! You guys helped me get totally into the hobby and not just planes. Thankyou Nate and Abby. You will always be special friends to me. I wish you lived closer. Being part of a club now is really good for me, so many new friends. I find it's more about the fellowship now than just the planes. Having something in common helps but now I can get out and fly with others, something I didn't do until now.
That is so awesome to hear! We all need to do more of what you are doing. Being a good friend and neighbor, and embracing the fellowship of it all. It is almost a lost art in our society now these days!
When I was a kid, my parents bought me a really great model plane. But it wasn’t R/C or Control Line. It had a joystick. It was a car plane. The plastic plane had a wingspan of about eight inches, and it was mounted on a vertical steel shaft. So you would sit in the back seat of your parent’s car and roll down the window. The plane would go out the window, and then you would roll up the window until it tightened onto a plastic groove. The joystick was inside the car and had a thick wire that went up ten inches, sideways eighteen inches, and then down to the plane. So you would wait until the car was up to at least thirty miles an hour, and then, when you tilted the joystick foreword, the plane outside of the car would climb. You could also dive, and shimmy just a little. Nowadays there are better fabrication methods, so you could make a car plane that climbs, dives, does barrel rolls, and banks. But no throttle. So kids could sit in the back seat and do acrobatics with the plane. No batteries, no electronics, no instructions. It shouldn’t cost much.
Hi guys, I've probably already thanked you but thanks again for suggesting the aeroscout! I bought 1 in 2020 and at 58 yrs. Old I Taught myself how to fly. Progress is slow because of life, but I can fly and I'm improving. Thank you!!!!!!
I have been contemplating getting back into the sport. I used to build the kits from scratch out of balsa install the radio and motor and fly with my uncle when I was about 13 years old. You inspired me to go buy the Aeroscout S 2 1.1m and start enjoying the sport again after about a 35 year haitus! the maiden flight wasn't so inspiring. the take off was very controlled and nice and level after in the air nice and smooth assent to about 200 feet then I gave it some left and nothing then full left nothing then full right plane barely moved at all in a panic I clicked the switch to high rate and tried left and right again and nothing at that point I was about out of room and had to kill the motor. Unfortunately the tree the right wing hit ripped the wing off and took a big chunk of the fuselage with it. I spent a part of three days gluing, clamping, filling, sanding and painting. I learned how to get dents and compressed EPO foam to return to it's original shape. I am amazed that it looks just like it did before I flew it and crashed it. I called Horizon Hobby to find out what may have happened. they no longer take calls from customers!! I had to call the hobby store to trouble shoot the issue. As a dealer they will call Horizon Hobby and get some insight on what may be the cause of the lack of control. I am determined now to continue this new journey and now my son wants to start flying too. Hopefully Horizon changes their position on customer service and starts taking calls again.
A lot of flying from you guys! Anyone on the fence about the Habu Sts?! Don’t hesitate and grab one! I can confirm I learned how to fly on this edf jet with no other experience other than Ace Combat!
I also love the E-Flite Apprentice. After 2 1/2 years in this hobby, it’s sad to finally let her go but the Apprentice is officially being sold. The fleet has grown too quickly! Great video and Happy Thanksgiving!
We understand Dan! The Apprentice is a good plane, but feels rather dated these days compared to everything else out there. Congrats on growing the fleet! 👍😁😎⚓
That little echine mustang got me into planes I have always had helicopters and a zaggy flying wing about 30 years ago, I took that little thing to the park and it was so easy I went and brought T28 also very easy to fly
TOTALLY AGREE with ALL!! 1ST plane to fly WILL BE...Eachine Corsair!! Even if it's just to try and fly it OUT my front door FROM my recliner!! GREAT CHOICES Saylors!! 💟👍😘
I have an aeroscout and I don’t like it much... to me it is the hardest plane to keep up in the air... mine flies like a rock compared to all of my other planes
Perfect video! Thanks for the help choosing my first EDF jet and big LED lighted glider! I've been searching and buying rc's for a year and never saw those even after searching all rc planes. My very first plane was the VOLANTEXRC P51D Mustang which I flew to England but couldn't see to turn around. Next I got the blue F4U Corsair which I've flown a thousand times and still use. Anything with the beginner modes work awesome! Id say the flying rc's are kicking the rest of the rc styles butts
@@TheRcSaylors I started about a year ago got back into the hobby with a bezgar 5, Axial Scx24 JL that I turned into a C10 30 minutes later, and a C24-1. Then I got another B5 and C24-1 then a 9125 and again got another bcz I loved it so much. Then I discovered brushless power! with the Q901 and had to buy two. Then I needed a 1/10 brushless and got the XLF X-04a. Then I started modifying! Now I have the worlds fastest bezgar 5, 23mph on 4s and two 60mph+ Q901's.The one speed truck Q901 has a goal to hit 100mph. I have the setup and am trying again tomorrow if its dry outside. Rc's have turned into the best hobby and my 3yo son loves rc just like me! The Corsair VOLANTEXRC is his favorite! I have arounf 300 videos I'm not exact buy just all in the last year. You've taught me how to edit and introduce and tech on the rc's even the lingo. You, John, Tomley, Raz, and everyone beside Kevin Talbot are the best! Kevin just got wierd with the sponsor stuff yuck 🤮. And he never reply to my comments when I friendly point something out. Not until I was a smart ass he replied so that explained who I am to him. I support everyone, except that channel. Js my experiences. Thanks again
I started flying RC 3 months ago in August and have some of these planes (P-51, Sport Cub S, and Aeroscout) and agree. Also feel like the Turbo Timber UMX is missing, I progressed off SAFE faster after getting that plane than any of the others.
That is definitely one of our favorites and an absolutely great plane! Sadly it doesn't come as a RTF and everything on our list is RTF mainly for the beginner in mind. However we strongly agree with you, and it is such an awesome plane 👍😁😎⚓
Oh. thank you both so much for sharing your experiences with various planes.. I've been following your fun for ages.. without a doubt I've got to go for the habu edf jet trainer now. all I've got to do is sweet talk the wife around 😂. thanks again to you both. really appreciated..kind regards Dave 😁👍👍👍
I had the sport cub s 2 but the. I crashed it, got a new prop and all but then my elevator stopped working, by not working I mean it had limited turn, like is would go only a little bit to the right and left but not enough to change the altitude of the aircraft
I have the HobbyZone Sport Cub S 2 RTF, it's a great little plane to fly. It has 6 channels so I can use the transmitter on more advanced planes too. SAFE is great, being able to turn it off and on is great. The panic button is also great for when you get disoriented and need it to level off.
Just bought one. It’s fantastic. So fun and easy to take off and land. My son is 9 and this is his second plane. He read the directions and was able to take off and land with ease.
I started out with an RC simulator app on my phone. Than I got a Sport Cub S. Now I'm having a blast with the Eachine planes. It blows my mind that someone with as little experience as me can fly these micro warbirds! The best thing about the Sport Cub S is that you can take off and land from the ground (a smooth, dirt baseball infield, for instance). The Eachine planes are for all intents and purposes toss to fly and belly-land in the grass. I don't even bother putting the wheels on.
I have the sport cub s2; fantastic plane. Mine is 3S. And it beeps when the airplane battery gets low. The 6-axis stability control lets you select from beginner, intermediate , or advanced. I’ve never flown the aeroscout but my plane can be hard to launch off uneven grass. Have fun!
This list is great! I am not a beginner anymore since I've been in the hobby for 5 years now, but I'm still having to fly beginner planes because I never get time to go fly. The other thing is getting to a flying field is next to impossible for me since I'm in a wheelchair, but I have a baseball field a few hundred feet away.

0:04 I got that plane for my birthday day and immediately nose dived it into our field and the propellers engine which sits right behind the propeller was bent to the top right side and now just spins around and around on its own, it’s still flyable but you can’t do fun stuff with it. I’d say don’t get this plane unless your more experienced
I Love My Aeroscout. Flown it about 100 times. Started my Student with the Mini-scout and he has progressed up to the AeroScout. Excellent flying trainer. What is really cool , it is a small version of my LAKE LA-4-200 Full size Seaplane. If I added wing sponsion's , remove the wheels , would be and exact replica. Have a Great thanksgiving day. Arrgh. Capt. Morgan.
I thank the Lord, (NOT THE BIG GUY UPSTAIRS), I came to your youtube site, I've been thinking about it have had lots of hobbies, but you hooked me. I now have a sport cub 2, but weather here in NH isn't cooperating so I can give it a go yet, thanks for great videos, keep up the good work, serious, joking, enjoyment all wrapped up in your vids.
Fantastic job with the list, the reviews and the links! Happy thanksgiving to the RC community… I know you like the AMA but to me it’s wasteful spending when I’m on an RC budget. Membership rates are way too high for your average American in these tough economical times. Anyway, good video and I’m looking closely at this with Christmas shopping in mind 👍🏼
AWESOME VIDEO!!! 😎👍 Going to have to watch a couple of more times, I'm a 60 yr old Disabled Gulf War Vet that LOVES RC EVERYTHING.... But,due to some Vision challenges,Need a BIG TRAINER,so,I don't bank a turn and it sails off into the Sunset....a tree..... My Roof,...lol,because I lose sight of it. The only other Alternative Would be a set of Virtual Eyewear that gives me the Mini-Me pilot's perspective in the Lil' Cockpit.🙃👍 Always Enjoy Your Vids,...If I have no luck for Any chance of Future R/C flight....In Example,I still have a Blade 330S Heli that,I got to hover,BUT,The Neighbor's Cat ALSO Thought it was Cool, and positioned herself Directly Under anyplace I tried to land the 330S After a few minutes,I was able to land it on top of my shed. Wasn't looking forward to telling my neighbor I "Cuisinarted" their Cat,lol. The heli has been sitting on a shelf for the last year. My Backyard was Ideal for "Stick Time Training" away from prying eyes,in case I took my Heli, crashed and burned it into a smoking pile of Twisted Plastic,Carbon Fiber,...worth a couple of hundred bucks Seconds Before, for All To See. Anyway,If I can't Fly,I Might just get an RC Bulldozer...😎🙏👍
My 77 year-old veteran dad is interested in an RC planes but he has severe scoliosis of the neck and he's hunched over I would love to get him into something he can fly and do you have anything you can recommend
I have numbers 1, 4, and 5. I've had three Sport Cubs. I fly it around my fairly small suburban back yard or in the cul de sac out front. Also, pretty sure "2.1" is a typo on the Aeroscout. :)
You guys turned me on to the AeroScout and I bought one and still fly it It is a bit beat up lol but still fly's great For the money it's definitely the best trainer I think it went up to $150 but still worth it for the RTF especially if you are just starting and don't have a transponder batteries etc Nice top 5 guys ✌️
I aggree 👍 the aeroscout is still my most flown plane and i love it. you can make a custom canopy to carry a action cam or you take/build some other mounts... the footage is amazing
Surprised not to see the E-Flite Apprentice STS on this list . That is what I would use as a trainer for new pilots . Add the GPS module and that thing will land itself. Lie this list though , and might look into some of these models.
I am 10 years old and I have been flying rC planes since I was 3 years old and I have been flying the earoscout And it is the best plane I havE ever flown
Hello, I have been flying a sports cub s2 for a while now, I have a 1.2 twin otter from e flite laying around my room, should I jump to that, or what plane would you recommend?
are there any rc planes for beginners that already come with everything you need (such as the remote and chargers etc)? i wanted to buy the sports cub s 2 rtf but it costs $150 for just the plane and if i add all the other things i need its over $500. thanks!
The RTF version comes with everything required (transmitter, battery, charger) included, though a few extra batteries would probably be worth picking up.
You're good so long as the park doesn't have rules against it, it's not restricted airspace, and you don't do anything stupid like flying near strangers.
SAFE Sensor Assisted Flight Envelope Adds automatic wing leveling and prevents over control of plane by limiting the bank (roll) and pitch inputs. That is the short version,

Could you please provide a link for the ready-to-fly version of the HABU, much appreciated!
Those tiny warbirds impress me on how they can be for beginners.
Do yo recommend one for a kid?

I'm a newbie and have 6 planes now my favorite beginner plane is my UMX Turbo Timber. Super easy to fly and so much fun.
Yay I’ve been waiting for this vid!!! Thanks for uploading it

The aeroscout is a very capable plane. I love mine. She is tattered and torn. Well just plain beat up. But it's never let me down.
@JustAnotherGamingChannel 0w0 I was about to comment this lmao
I have a Parkzone Champ that is the same
I’m a fellow beat up aeroscout owner. Love it
just pulled mine out of a 40ft tree, she's totaled

Oh this was an awesome video, super informational!!! Thank you!!
You are welcome Nick! 👍😀😎⚓️
I’m so glad to hear that! Woot! Happy Flying 👍😁😎⚓️
Abby and Nate y'all rock! Love the channel and content! I'm here for the algorithm! Peace
Very informative video! Thank you for sharing! ❤
Absolutely!! Thanks a lot for tuning in! 🙏👍💯😎⚓️
TOTALLY AGREE with ALL!! 1ST plane to fly WILL BE...Eachine Corsair!! Even if it's just to try and fly it OUT my front door FROM my recliner!! GREAT CHOICES Saylors!! 💟👍😘
That is something we'd love to witness! Happy Flying! 👍😁😎⚓
The Aeroscout is definitely #1 on this list! It's a great everyday flyer for all skill levels and you can't beat the price.🦃🦃✈🕹
Thanks Ricky!! That's awesome that you've been enjoying the hobby so much 👍😁😎⚓
@@TheRcSaylors I started about a year ago got back into the hobby with a bezgar 5, Axial Scx24 JL that I turned into a C10 30 minutes later, and a C24-1.
I ordered the BF109 from China and it got here in 8 days. That's pretty good. I love it. Lots.of fun and you can fly it anywhere.
Honestly that is very impressive! Glad it came so quickly! Happy Flying 👍😁😎⚓
The aero scout is super fun for even seasoned pilots. I've had mine for a few years and love it.
Perfect timing. Bout to buy my first plane , thanks guys!!
The Horizon Cub S is really one of the best. Can fly forever on a 380ma battery
i flew rc plane with fpv man let me tell you i am still addicted to it. now it is 8 years since i started my rc fpv hobby.
Great video as always!
Thank you very much! 👍😁😎⚓
Oh. thank you both so much for sharing your experiences with various planes.. I've been following your fun for ages.. without a doubt I've got to go for the habu edf jet trainer now. all I've got to do is sweet talk the wife around 😂. thanks again to you both. really appreciated..kind regards Dave 😁👍👍👍
Nice video guys! I got a corsair after watching your review...like it a lot
I really want one with a FPV camera and headset any out there or is it a built it yourself kind of thing
Sorry sir but fpv need to be bought and installed separately on the plane u want, and if its not compatible ur screwd
I had the sport cub s 2 but the. I crashed it, got a new prop and all but then my elevator stopped working, by not working I mean it had limited turn, like is would go only a little bit to the right and left but not enough to change the altitude of the aircraft
Sport Cub is the Best deal out all of them.. I live mine have been using for 2years no issues.
You guys sealed the deal on the aeroscout for me. Great video. Thank you!
Just bought one. It’s fantastic. So fun and easy to take off and land. My son is 9 and this is his second plane. He read the directions and was able to take off and land with ease.
Awesome picks Nate & Abby!! Hopefully I can maiden the Habu SS soon before winter season hits 😊⚓
I wonder where the Carbon Cub is?
I started out with an RC simulator app on my phone. Than I got a Sport Cub S. Now I'm having a blast with the Eachine planes. It blows my mind that someone with as little experience as me can fly these micro warbirds! The best thing about the Sport Cub S is that you can take off and land from the ground (a smooth, dirt baseball infield, for instance). The Eachine planes are for all intents and purposes toss to fly and belly-land in the grass. I don't even bother putting the wheels on.
RC flying has come along way since the pulsed rudder only!
It absolutely has! 💯👍😁😎⚓️
Happy early thanksgiving my friends God bless 😎😎😎😎⚓️⚓️⚓️⚓️⚓️⚓️
Praying you all have a awesome Thanksgiving. Be safe
I learnt to fly and love the hobby on the Eflite Apprentice S 15e. My bro also bought one after me. Very sensible list. I'm intimidated by jets🤔
Very cool! The Habu (3S and 4S) is such a tame little jet. You can do it!!! If you can fly an RC plane, you can fly the Habu. Promise! 👍😁😎⚓
Have fun!
Thx for the video Could you make another video for best ones over 1000mm wingspan.. Because those in this video are really small (
Very good video! I ordered the arrows pioneer for me. Thank you for the video!
How much fly time these planes have on full battery? How long does it take to charge the battery?
The tiny sport cub in my opinion is one of the best beginner planes because you can just fly it in your yard
I bought a E-flite Apprentice STS RTF with SAFE 1.5m before I watched this video. You should add it to your list.
I bought the aeroscout mini at first and loved it
Now im flying the aeroscout 2.1 and love it, very nice beginner larger size plane
Thank you guys, seriously.
No problem! 👍😁😎⚓️

Start with a sports cub s then mini apprentice and then the arrows big foot and then got a aero scout now order a prime tundra
Ive had the mini aeroscout since Christmas, and I've already earned my glue, tape and toothpick badge 🤣🤣😎
Thank you,Good flying
0:04 I got that plane for my birthday day and immediately nose dived it into our field and the propellers engine which sits right behind the propeller was bent to the top right side and now just spins around and around on its own, it’s still flyable but you can’t do fun stuff with it. I’d say don’t get this plane unless your more experienced
Aeroscout is my first and currently only plane that I'm flying!!
Arrgh. Capt. Morgan.
Keep up the good work
I thank the Lord, (NOT THE BIG GUY UPSTAIRS), I came to your youtube site, I've been thinking about it have had lots of hobbies, but you hooked me. I now have a sport cub 2, but weather here in NH isn't cooperating so I can give it a go yet, thanks for great videos, keep up the good work, serious, joking, enjoyment all wrapped up in your vids.
Nice plane's. Great review
Fantastic job with the list, the reviews and the links! Happy thanksgiving to the RC community… I know you like the AMA but to me it’s wasteful spending when I’m on an RC budget. Membership rates are way too high for your average American in these tough economical times. Anyway, good video and I’m looking closely at this with Christmas shopping in mind 👍🏼
great video that you obviously had a lot of fun producing. well done as always. looking forward to seeing what you bring forth in 2022
AWESOME VIDEO!!! 😎👍
Going to have to watch a couple of more times, I'm a 60 yr old Disabled Gulf War Vet that LOVES RC EVERYTHING.... But,due to some Vision challenges,Need a BIG TRAINER,so,I don't bank a turn and it sails off into the Sunset....a tree..... My Roof,...lol,because I lose sight of it. The only other Alternative Would be a set of Virtual Eyewear that gives me the Mini-Me pilot's perspective in the Lil' Cockpit.🙃👍
Always Enjoy Your Vids,...If I have no luck for Any chance of Future R/C flight....In Example,I still have a Blade 330S Heli that,I got to hover,BUT,The Neighbor's Cat ALSO Thought it was Cool, and positioned herself Directly Under anyplace I tried to land the 330S
After a few minutes,I was able to land it on top of my shed.
Your Wife is Special , A Fellow Hobbyist, I Like Her Videos where she Narrates, describes,Flys, Drives,.
Oscar nomination- cinematography - chase plane quadcopter views!
What about the e-flite Apprentice STS 1.5m? Some folks say this is the best plane to start with because of all the electronic safeguards.
My 77 year-old veteran dad is interested in an RC planes but he has severe scoliosis of the neck and he's hunched over I would love to get him into something he can fly and do you have anything you can recommend
You must have an eye for spoting a good make like me. Everything I've looked at this year you gave it a two thumbs up on it later on good job!!!
I have numbers 1, 4, and 5. I've had three Sport Cubs. I fly it around my fairly small suburban back yard or in the cul de sac out front. Also, pretty sure "2.1" is a typo on the Aeroscout. :)
I just got the p51 for Christmas but it's snowing like mad where I am rn
Happy Thanksgiving and a big wave from Piper's Gap Virginia
Just ordered the aero scout with an extra battery ….. first plane ✈️
Can’t wait
Great video nice plane's
You guys turned me on to the AeroScout and I bought one and still fly it It is a bit beat up lol but still fly's great For the money it's definitely the best trainer I think it went up to $150 but still worth it for the RTF especially if you are just starting and don't have a transponder batteries etc Nice top 5 guys ✌️
I aggree 👍 the aeroscout is still my most flown plane and i love it. you can make a custom canopy to carry a action cam or you take/build some other mounts... the footage is amazing
Lovey Aeroscout it helps me break in for flying my other and and I love doing 1 wheel touch and gos
I never imagined the day I'd see a 500$ EDF on a "best plane for beginners" list. Boy this hobby's changed.
Surprised not to see the E-Flite Apprentice STS on this list . That is what I would use as a trainer for new pilots . Add the GPS module and that thing will land itself. Lie this list though , and might look into some of these models.
Nice..,👌
I am 10 years old and I have been flying rC planes since I was 3 years old and I have been flying the earoscout
And it is the best plane I havE ever flown
Thanks guy's you are so helpful ❤
Oh My God ... This is the best EVER ... Thank you and I will be a newbie Soon !!! Love you guys !!! You Guys are terrific !!!
Hello, I have been flying a sports cub s2 for a while now, I have a 1.2 twin otter from e flite laying around my room, should I jump to that, or what plane would you recommend?
Enjoy the week
Awesome Video !!!
Thank you so much! 👍😁😎⚓️
are there any rc planes for beginners that already come with everything you need (such as the remote and chargers etc)? i wanted to buy the sports cub s 2 rtf but it costs $150 for just the plane and if i add all the other things i need its over $500. thanks!
Get one that comes with transmitter..
The RTF version comes with everything required (transmitter, battery, charger) included, though a few extra batteries would probably be worth picking up.
RC Sailors Nate and Abby and family a happy Thanksgiving day and I watching and enjoying all your videos and 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍✈️✈️✈️✈️✈️👌😁😄😎❤️ awesome video
Happy Thanksgiving Don!! 🦃 Hope you have a nice, relaxing day and eat some great food! 👍😁😎⚓
Are there rules where you can fly rc planes or can you just fly them at the park
You're good so long as the park doesn't have rules against it, it's not restricted airspace, and you don't do anything stupid like flying near strangers.
Hi, brand new, what does “with SAFE” mean on the product pages?
SAFE Sensor Assisted Flight Envelope Adds automatic wing leveling and prevents over control of plane by limiting the bank (roll) and pitch inputs. That is the short version,
Love my AeroScout!! I even put lights on it. I'll send you a pic
Every time you glue a plane back together does it get stronger? Lol
Or if you crash again does it usually break on the existing break?
Nate I have a radiomaster tx12 from losing my novice 4 so I have the radio and gogs but what rc planes and jet can I fly with this radio?
Very helpful video. Thank you both. This just answered a question I left you in a previous video. What is a good first jet. God bless.
Oh perfect!! Glad we could help Jeffrey! Happy Flying and if you happen to order yours through our link, our Family Thanks You! 👍😁😎⚓️
How durable is the tail on the Aeroscout? it looks thin?
