♦ Sims 2 vs Sims 3 vs Sims 4 : Witch / Spellcaster

- Hello. This is the first time I feel like it's both a very long video and at the same time a loooot is missing, witches are one hell of a life-state. Just a little note, there is barely anything about spells in here so if you were looking forward to it you're not gonna find it, I may or may not upload a video for spells within the month.
This is a not so brief comparison of Witches / Warlocks / Spell-casters from Sims 2 apartment life, Sims 3 supernatural and recently Sims 4 realm of magic. Witches have gone from an accessory to an expansion, to one of the many supernaturals all the way to having their own game pack (now that I think about it, it's the exact same story with the vampires, so maybe werewolves or zombies are next?) so what do you think, are they worth it? I know I'm having lots of fun with them.
Now, I know I skipped a lot of stuff, namely Sims 1, but, only because I'm talking about witches as a lifestate here, Sims 1 had the magic but nothing witch specific, at first I was gonna include sims 1 to talk about spells but it got loooooong, so I decided to just cut all spells, cause honestly, I could make a 10 minute video talking about the spells in 1 game, I'm going to see if I can talk about spells or magic in my next video but seeing how extensive the topic is I won't guarantee anything.
This comparison will be the most basic aspects, which already are a lot, I couldn't touch much about the actual spells now how they all work differently. The aspects I compared are transformation, characteristics, magical worlds, wands, brooms, familiars, and a lot of both minuscule and big details in the extras. If there's one thing for sure is they all add a hell lot of gameplay.
So, what do you think?
My opinion?
Sims 2's expansions seemed like they always had an occult as extras, they weren't the focus but they did a solid job, I like their unique gameplay of good vs evil witches, it makes the whole thing feel like there are consequences to the player's choices and not just something to max out.
Sims 3's witches came along with a bunch of other supernaturals, their gameplay is simple enough but they did expand on alchemy a lot. I like aspects like their pets being the familiars and small details like how the brooms are used, how power backlash can result in death and how they have more customization in the wand and outfit department, gives you a chance to make the witches you like.
Sims 4 made a game pack special for witches, ak spell-casters, and I found it very fun, they took some of the best aspects in the previous entries and blended them together, there's even an effort to separate the kinds of magic, I like a lot about these, I like the familiars, I like the new worlds, I like the new animations, I like some of the new spells, but I do think once you start getting perks they quickly become too overpowered. There are no limits to them and i find that a little...boring? I may be alone in this one but that's how I feel.
So to me, Sims 4 did one hell of a good job but I would've liked some limitations to them like in Sims 2, as weird as that sounds. I also liked Sims 3's way of giving children at least a little interaction with magic.
So in short this is a tie for me.
But that's just my opinion, let me know what you think.
I'm planning for my next video to be focused on spells but it's so much I don't even know if it's possible in a short video, I'll let you know how that goes.

I loved that Sims 3 also included magical toddlers. Even if it's only one simple animation, at least you can see when a Sim is magical

My spell caster toddler on Sims 4 was shimmering with magic the other day when she was angry. I don't know if that's equivalent to an adult spellcaster's full charge or...? But I agree with this 100%

In sims 4 children of spellcasters will do a special animation in cas in which they try casting magic but once they do they get scared. But yes I agree with the sims 3 adding special toddler animations.
I love how in every sims video you have the same sims instead of changing them 😂
It started as an aesthetic but I think it's tradition at this point lol altho who knows, maybe one they day I will have to switch them

Also, in Sims 3, teenage witches have the chance to get frustrated while doing homework. This has two outcomes. 1. They throw down their pencil, which somehow automatically completes their work. Or, 2. They throw down their pencil, which again automatically completes their work, but they'll get singed.
Found this out the hard way recently. Made a new family and the eldest daughter was turned into a witch. During her teenage years, she kept getting singed after doing her homework (and was finishing it REALLY quick, like instantly) and I was confused. Looked it up and found out that no, it wasn't a bug, it was a real thing lol though I do believe having a higher magic level means they get singed less frequently as when the sim got her hidden magic skill up, she stopped getting singed so much.
The Sims 3 witches were definitely more fleshed out than the other packs. You had to really work to skill your witches. You needed gardening as a skill as well.
Yep. I remember that in one game I played the son of the witch I made in CAS had to train rigorously to master his magical abilities. He literally spent everyday as a teen practicing magic.
He fully mastered his abilities when was a young adult when he defeated his father in spellcasting duel.
It was extra tough as he had to keep up with his extracurricular activities and grades in high school.
But practicing pact is kinda boring compared to sims 4. You just have to spam transformation. Im not a sims 4 fan but I like the addition of duel for knowledge or duel for ingredients. Yet player have very little impact on duelling. You know which pack have the best duelling system? Sims 1 Makin Magic. Player should know all elements and their counter spell, see which spell your opponent using, pick the right one. It is a lot different than selecting "duel for knowledge", speed 3 and wait for your sim to do everything for you.
Sims 3 have duelling as well, but not duelling system. Duelling is a lot useless in sims 3.

Been playing Makin' Magic and it's the most challenging in terms of getting magical stuff, I need soooooo many magic coins, lots of fun for sure.

Eehh, who's keeping count? Not me lol. But just for this video I created 5 new files in Sims 4 so there's that. Sims 1 and 2 are the tricky ones, I may or may not have a neighborhood full of clones in Sims 1

Even vampire servos are a thing in the sims 2.

I did that in Sims 4 recently by using cheats, it adds so much more character to a sim!
@@Vladimira92 My Servo is a Witch. He's good with using Benemoodus Populus support. Basically can give max motives to an entire lot without no real risk if it backfires.

Hey there, just a little note, there is almost no mention of spells on this video cause there are a lot and this video is long already, I'm going to see if I can make another video on that topic and that will include Sims 1. But I'm not sure since they're way too many, if I do manage to do it it'll be within this month so stay tuned!

@@TheRedPlumbob I can't wait to see your video on spells. But I don't suppose you could also make one covering potions as well? I feel potions are a very comprehensive subject that covers all the Sims games, they have come in different forms with interesting effects and abilities. They deserve a video. Just something for you to consider, and as a long time simmer I love your channel by the way.
I'd do it as a multi-parter -- one on spells, one on potions/charms/what-have you. (Remember charms from Sims 1? I kind of miss those. Plus magical growths, those were fun. :D)

Fr but imagine if they add more realism into it, like when Sims find out the other Sims is witches they might getting scared/terrifying or intriguing depending on the Sims trait. Also other Sims can ask to be your coven or other Sims will try to against you since they view witchcraft as evil 😍. Just imagine how chaotic it is.
I have a note to add in the Sims 2: if an evil witch visits the good witches' castle, they're charged simoleons for being there, every Sim-hour or so; I assume the same will happen if a good witch goes to the evil witches' castle. I found this out when I took my evil witch and another Sim to the good witches' castle so I could make the other Sim a good witch (storytelling purposes), and while I was schmoozing with the Grand White Witch or whatever she was called so she'd turn my Sim, the other got those -§§ on her head from time to time. I think it was a nice touch; if we must have our enemies over, then they better pay.
So if you're interested, the story went something like this; three friends in college, two women and one man. I paired the guy with one of the women but the game decided he would fall in love with her best friend, and she with him. I planned to have the guy break up, but I got distracted with the hours and the first woman returned to the dorm sooner than I expected, and she found them in bed and flipped out. Turned into an evil witch and swore revenge on them, while the other woman turned into a good witch to protect the guy. Then they left college, and I made them live across the street from one another because of course I did. The good witch lived in a white palace surrounded by a lake and half hidden by a forest, while the evil witch lived in a floating house above a dead garden, all black and thunder glory. I had fun building those... Gods, I miss the Sims 2. Sims 4 feels very similar to 2 in so many ways, but different enough to feel unique, and I love it, it's like 2 made better. 3 just didn't call to me when I tried it.

I know some people don't like being locked out of features due the Witch/Warlock alignment in 2, but I love how it adds a lot of personality and uniqueness to each mage.

Am I the only one that misses the elixir shop and other things that were in 3 I don't know why but the elixir shop I always enjoyed and I really don't like the diagon alley knock off
While watching the video I was making a “small” list in my head and yep, based on that I think TS4’s “witches” lose. Thex lack so much depth...
Being able to learn all magic in TS4 is cool, but 90% of them are reused. And then we have these 3/4 types of magic, but it’s all mostly cosmetic because sims can learn whatever they want... All spellcasters end up being the same. I think it would’ve been much cooler if there were separate houses. Like, if you went to the untamed sage and they transformed your sim into a spellcaster then they’d be in the untamed house. CAS created witches could join a house via talking to a sage. Then after reaching the max rank and learning the ultimate spell of your house you could start learning the other houses’ spells. This way you could’ve had very different spellcasters from differen houses and also ultimate witches that know all spells - and even they would be very unique and represent a new “house” or witch kind. I think that would’ve been a 1000 times cooler.
We also could’ve had special items for houses like in ts2... not just some recolors to represent the 3 magic types. We have these curses. Spellcasters could become cursed from trying to interact with a different house’s items, and get benefits from using their own. And if your sim is an ultimate witch that has affilations to all types of magic they could interact with all objects and get benefits from all of them.
We could’ve had a new use for the dueling grounds (which is kinda useless atm imho). The 3 magic types’ houses could gather, like one of each and battle each other, and other, and sims would gather and watch. The winner house (it’s menbers that were present at the fight) would get a buff that fills their needs or helps then learn faster or something. Kinda like the competitions in city living in festivals, just with duels. The competition could be only held at the dueling grounds and your sim could sign up for it for example and battle it or go and cheer. It’d give a great use for the dueling grounds and give players a reason to go back to the magic realms even when they’re done with leveling their spellcaster.
I don’t think these are very big additions, and I’m pretty sure most could reuse systems we already have (like the festivals), but I think these would’ve been extremely big additions to gameplay.

Damn, these are some pretty solid ideas! At first they made it seem like there were going to be different houses with the sages but it seems like they thought of that after the game was done or something.

I’ve played both sims 3 and sims 4 and i gotta say, i enjoy the sims 3 witches more. it was “hard” to learn all the spells and stuff but i liked that. It felt more well...realistic i guess. with the sims 4, it’s WAAAY too easy to become a master spellcaster or whatever the highest rank is called. Once you get all the perks, it becomes boring in my opinion.
I will say though, the familiars in sims 4 are pretty cool. The ones in those orbs. There is the one that looks like Navi from Ocarina of Time so that’s kinda cool lol.
What’s lacking in both that i like in sims 2 is the ability to have an evil, good, or neutral witch.
Overall, the sims 4 lacks A LOT. A lot of these expansion packs are lackluster (which is why i don’t buy them anymore. I just download the stuff for free lol). I hope that when TS5 comes, EA finally listens to people and learn from what they did with the sims 4
Sims 4 is really easy on everything, the real challenges where Sims 1 and 2
@@Alejandroso31 They aren't even trying to be challenging anymore lol. It's like they made the game for toddlers. For eg, if your sim is poor you'll get a boring pop up saying "would you like to start off with 50k simoleons?" What happened to how they handled this in the old games? In Sims 3, they would write it off as something like how your distant relative has died and you inherited a sum of their money (which required aspiration points iirc). And in Sims 2, it's a lot harder to get money. You need to get a decent paying job, sell things like novels and paintings, inheritance, marriage, or that counterfeit machine and money tree (which could go bad if you have low aspiration level.)

Yeah, i miss The Sims 2 era. Except for the 20k handout that your sim gets when moving out, but that can be easily fixed with a little mod. That's one of the reasons The Sims 4 can bore you easily.
Familiars are useless. I wish we could AT LEAST interact with them.
Ahh yes... The most broken lifestate in TS4. I maxed out to the highest spellcaster rank within an hour and a half simply because I didn't get a job and didn't need to sleep because of a potion. Said potion fills up every bar you have and it only costs an APPLE. I also broke the game by getting the discount perk, buying a bunch of expensive tomes at half price, then selling them back at full price. It was an incredibly disappointing expansion that had very little challenge. BI

@@joroc It still wasn't as expanded on as the witches in Sims 3. Becoming a Master Spellcaster didn't take long, so it was boring and I quickly ran out of things to do.
What about the Sims 1 expansion Making Magic? I never played that expansion, but I assume it had magic aswell. Probably not included because life states weren't a thing yet.

I know this is a bit off topic but...... wouldn’t it be nice if EA decided to go back and improve the graphics and software on Sim’s 2 & 3... and then surprised us with new expansion packs!
I swear if they did this in the first place, they would’ve never needed to do a Sims 4. (in my opinion of course)
I think the same...i mean, i know...The sims 4 have better graphics, better animations, but i missed so much the cutscnes of the sims 2, and the open world of the sims 3 (and interactions too).
I think a remastered edition of The Sims 2 with improved graphics and with some thing from The Sims 3 and 4 (like traveling to different neighborhoods, the Sims 4 CAS, the gallery, and why not an open word) could be the definitive game that could made everyone happy. I would buy it also if it was 60€ the base game plus 40€ for every expansion. I don't understand why EA refuse to monetize a gold mine like The Sims 2, but they had GIFTED the game some years ago.
At this point I suspect if EA did TS5, it would be a mobile game. :P

The best of Sims 3 mix with the best sims 2.
I miss the sims 2 interactions with cars, miss sims 3 using cars, bikes, etc
Miss the jokes and comedy of Sims 2, the cinematics
Miss the open world of Sims 3 and the way the neighborhood react to the environment
Miss the sims 3 careers and jobs, Part time, Youngs working, private schools, parties, the imaginary friend.... The gogo dancers

Thank you for watching, I'm glad you like them! And if I were to talk about fairies I'd needs Sims 4 to introduce them since they're pretty much only present in Sims 3, I hope Sims 4 keeps introducing occults, Zombies would be interesting.

@@giadagiuggiola0272 you can improve the future ones by pointing out the good features too and not by pointing out everything that you don't like! imagine teaching a child how to write and then they make a mistake and the only thing we say to the child is "you did that wrong, that is not correct, I'm not happy with your work" how should he/her learn to write and improve if the good things are not pointed out too!?
It's actually possible to point out the bad features without dragging down the whole game or the whole pack because some balances need to be done when the game is has good features too: that is called constructive criticism.

@@vodka_42088 ahaha right! I'm a psychology/teaching student so it was the first exemple that came into my mind but yes you're right! It's just that nothing is perfect and yes the ideal is having something close to perfection than something close to mediocrity (island living) but the complains always hide some good features that all. I think it's a good thing to criticize a game to improve them but sometimes people just complains about it without giving any reason like the ones who say "sims 3 is better", well I lean yeah but to each his own so taste are different and there is no arguments just "sims 3 is better"! You know things like that! But I'm not against expression or criticism, every work needs criticism but not just some blind and reasonless statement that brings nothing to improve the game

I would like to say that the idea of magic fascinates me. I love the Sims 4 because they have a game mode like the vampires and I love that expansion pack. And the dragon familiar? Absolute beauty!!!
Honestly? I prefer the Sims 4 version. In TS3 witches are also my favourite supernatural sims, but I don't like the fact that Magic skill is hidden, and you have to learn, learn, learn, learn and do nothing more for a loooooong time, to gain 10, never knowing how far you are. Also, I prefer TS4 spells, even if it's fun to do in TS3, when you're running around putting the whole town into fire. My only problem with TS4 is that it's too easy to become a witch. But also, it never was super hard in TS3 or TS2. But I have to say, I was pretty mad at my TS3 gameplay lately, because my sim had "reset" because of game bug aaaaand lost the whole progress and spells 8') i was kinda furious and just loaded the older save, but ugh, it wasn't good experience.
Damn. I didn't know sims could reset like that, gotta love that saving system lol
@@TheRedPlumbob Yup, I was shocked by this! I've lost like, maybe a day or two of my family life, so I was angry, but I've started anew anyway in another town. My game just doesn't like me ^^' (I also have this irrating bug with schoolbus, which won't show unless it's for the school trip, so kids have to go to school with what they have. Bike, taxi etc.)
Ts3 is way more challenging than sims 4, i remember magically upgrading every single thing in town just to reach witch lvl 10 XD
@@Angel-ug6om I mean, ts4 is too easy, but ts3 is way more... frustrating? I think it depends who prefers what. I would like to have witches/spellcasters in ts4 more challenging, but also it's hard for my family to have something challenging (I'm playing with only ONE family, and they're basically gods now, so, yeah)
Maybe that’s what makes the sims 3 fun for some, the fact that it’s not easy.
The Sims 4 disappointed me to be honest. I think I like The Sims 2 witches and warlocks better since their alignment gives them much more diversity in my opinion. Not only that, but it also gives me a sense of having a goal and giving my sims more personality. But then again, this is solely based on my own preferences.
the sims 4 disapointement is due to the huge hype RoM had when the pack was announced...well, that what I think! Even simmers that don't play with occults were hyped like builders, realistic players and such (for exemple Lilsimsie...and we all know how much she hates occults) and then everyone got disapointed because they're not used to play with occults and got bored quickly!
Then, all the hype created such a high expectation for the pack! Look at vampires, only and almost only the occult players were intersted in it and they came out really good as no one was expecting them to be that good while here...people kinda made impossible speculations like magic schools and all XD!!
Agreed. TS4 sages were watered down Harry Potter-lite, with very little originality or extra thought beyond being colorful and flashy. They could've at least added a magical school. Kids don't even have magic -- which makes the Harry Potter references even more ironic.

I usually favor Sims 2 and 3 the most, but there are many things I like in the Sims 4 for this one. If they did a combo of Sims 3 and 4 witches (with some 2 sprinkled in), it would be perfect!

I really loved sims 3 witches overall looks plus the lore of each family and the potential of lore created by you.
What I missed was some spells from sims 2.
Sims 4 is so cartoonish plus the lack of purpose, personality and life outside the magic realm makes it so unappealing to me. The only thing I love about Sims 4 is the bloodlines. But even then, having mixed families and stuff feels more wholesome in sims 3. Having toddlers and children with magical abilities. Plus, in sims 4, spellcasters do not have any extra abilities besides the making potions and spells (which look like cheats honestly).. PLUS! Lets not forget most spells from ROM are just copy paste effects from the scientist career. Moreover, each spell has the same animation... Making it so repetitive and boring looking....
One thing I loved about the "special race" feeling in sims 3 was moving witches to custom towns or any good looking "no supernatural town" and make lore and develope their lives there. It felt so wholesome.
However, I hate the fact that it is so difficult to play sims 3 in today's pc models.. In my case I got a macbook pro and even though there is a version which make it "playable" it has so many bugs and after a while playing it constantly breaks... I don't remember such a thing when I used to play sims 3 on my pc when the game was originally released.
I feel a lot of nostalgia for sims 2 and 3 witches.
I really wish they had included a magical realm in Sims 3 like they did in 2 and 4. They wouldn't even have to make it exclusive to witches only but other charismatic supernaturals like vampires, werewolves and fairies as well. It would have been a good haven for occults to hang out and a place where regular sims can go to join the occult ranks.
TBH I think EA left it out deliberately, to force you to buy Dragon Valley, Hidden Springs, or Midnight Hollow, or use the CAW tool & make your own, or buy Magic premium content. Just ways to pay more money. Typical.

This is amazing! I believe the sims 4 wands actually don't change efficiency with magic. They all just look different and are optional.
Apparently some have more backlash chance than others but that's just something I read, there are too many factors to be sure.

I think the Sims 4 shouldn’t make it so you can gain all the perks, bc once you play a sim and get them all, what’s the point to use it again?

Gain all the perks with another sim, then another and so on, then engaging them in duels, then make wizard tournaments and whatnot. Whatever the imagination.
I like this branch of the Sims because they drop subtle hints referring to Harry Potter. They include:
Mandrake Root (A Mandrake, AKA Mandragora, are first introduced in CoS, Herbology.)
Wolfsbane Flower (Wolfsbane relates to the Wolfsbane potion, which allows a lycanthrope to retain their mind once they've transformed.)
Caster's Alley (This refers to Diagon Alley.)
Not only Harry Potter, but also hints or references of other supernatural shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, True Blood, Charmed, Supernatural, etc.
Mandrake and Wolfsbane are actual plants, they're frequently referenced in supernatural/occult shows, movies, and books
Sadly they don't include magical children, would have been so fun with the Harry Potter themes. Instead it makes me sad, when I encounter the references now

One extra thing: you can also transform other sims into witches by offering the transition ritual if you have learned the spell, that's another way how to become a witch

Witch were introduced in The Sims 5: Hocus Pocus (HP), and you can find them in the Spell School, or at night with her broom. You can ask them to turn or simply create a Supernatural Sim in CAS.

The two times I had witch sims ( I build much more than play lol) I had 3 sisters. In sims2 soi could have all three alignments and in sims3 I remade them with personality's to match since there east really alignments there.
But I also used mods. Ones to make the green skins and outfits to away, since I had fave skins that I prefered. To replace defalt outfit ect.
I hear sims4 players have trouble with the EA made sims ( townies to longtime players) just piping into the magic realm and becoming casters, creating issues for bloodline and legacy players and those who want magic to be rare.
If you have this issue, or want to customise how much magic is in your sims4 world, you can grab various mods and fixes at the Mod the Sims site. They are super useful and the forums are friendly and have lots of help for all sims versions ( even a sims1 forum area)

I haven't played enough of Sims 4 to vote between it and Sims 2 yet, but from what I've seen, it's got some great spells, a cool new world, and plenty to learn -- though yeah, it being a bit overpowered seems to be a common complaint. (I know that at least one modder, SrslySims, has tweaked the Alchemy potions in 4 to require more ingredients to make you have to work for 'em.) I'm just happy to have witches back in general, honestly -- I have fond memories of preparing and casting spells from Sims 2 (and Sims 1! Makin' Magic was my FAVORITE expansion), so I'm eager to get started in 4. I just wish they'd given kids more to do -- I mean, what use is letting them use familiars if you can't PLAY with familiars? They should totally be allowed to ride brooms too, at least. (Also, please tell me someone is going to convert the vacuum from Sims 3 to 4 -- people have already done the wands!)
YES! I've been playing making magic and there's sooo much fun stuff, I mean, it holds up great for an almost 20 year old game. And yeah, I think they all got something good going on for them, Sims 2 for the good vs evil gameplay, Sims 3 for thinking of the children (lol) and expanding on things like brooms, wands etc. and Sims 4 took good aspects from both games and added cool looking details like their world and their familiars. I couldn't pick one honestly.

I really like ROM. I like how you can track your progress better and the familiars and spellbooks are a nice touch.
I also find that the witches aren’t as annoying. I got fed up with Sims 3 witches because they constantly kept waving their wands in the air and refused to travel anywhere unless it was by broomstick.
The build/buy in 4 is kind of tacky though. I prefer the vampire build/buy.
And even though I couldn’t go back to Sims 1, I loved the atmosphere of Makin Magic with the circus style magic town and the haunted house and duels.
I like the sims 4 mechanics most but I *LOVE* the sims 2 animations, especially the broom riding and such!

You can also hex potions in the sims 4. I also believe if you have pets in sims 4 you can make cats your familiar I might be wrong.

I can't really agree with that.. my opinion is Sims 2 didn't make magic such a big deal for the apartments expansion, so of course the fact you got any was cool, but the truth is there was a lot less you could do with your magic especially since you had to be a certain alignment. The Sims 4 let you do a whole bunch more with your magic even just with everyday chores. The issue is Sims 4 seems so meh to many because like you said , a whole expansion was dedicated to magic. I don't feel they added enough magically content to make a whole expansion dedicated to it. If anything they should have included many scenerios that involved your magic, like at work or school etc... That would make the expansion seem amazing.
@@bunnyrabi RoM wasn't an expansion though. It was a game pack, and therein lies the problem. It didn't go far enough (like adding a magical school, which I REALLY wanted), cuz it was limited to being HALF an expansion. If anything, Island Living should've been the GP, so they could spend more time on RoM. Cuz it was underwhelming.

Honestly to me, sims 4 was better (having played both 3 & 4) I really enjoy Sims 4's spellbook and skill tree and magic realm and familiar along with the extra broom stuff. Generally, it's a really fun pack. But with sims 3 although I don't really like hidden skills I enjoyed the witches. Witches and faries were the only good supernaturals in the supernatural pack tbh. The other 2 were just ok. But I really enjoyed witches in both games.

Idk the spells are pretty fun and Ilike potion brewing. i like that it's in it's own world but i miss traveling by broom and it's a rabbit hole :/ but i do miss the good/evil witches but hey i think it has far more than island living and vampires had

I just wished there were more sim interactions. I think vampires wouldve been more fun if they added vampire hunters or werewolves. Or give them more food options would've been cool or have a trait where sims are instantly attracted to them or have different species of vampires. That would have been so cool
The morality system in The Sims 2 is so cool and gives the life stage so much personality. I find the Harry Potter vibe of spellcasters in The Sims 4 quite boring to be honest.
All in all, I wish they had built on the basis of The Sims 2 and improve, not to mention expand, the life stage from each following installment.

The sims 3 is the winner for me... unlike the sims 2 and 4 where you have to be certain alignment or part in order to cast spells.. the sims 3 feel more magical to me where they keep it simple and make it realistic witches casting love spells and good Luck charm it has more creativity into it.. like they learn alchemy faster when they with their familiar.. they magic/energy is stronger while in the full moon like light up the wood stuff (i forget the name) witches 2 and 4 magic is basically cheats but that's just my opinion

I can still see all the love they put in Sims 2 and how it lacks in Sims 4.
Still super bummed out that due to EA not allowing Aspyr to convert the second half of the Sims 2 packs for MacBook (thus why it's called "Super Collection" and not "Ultimate Collection") and to me struggling for over a year--and eventually giving up on--getting Sims 2 to run on Windows 10, I don't have witches. I never really got to play with them either and they look so fun and fleshed out!
Also I wonder why they're not called witches in Sims 4 and are called "spell casters" instead.... Like did they think that term was offensive or something? Or were they trying to maybe let the life state be interpreted as either witches or wizards....?? not sure.
Not all familiars give words of encouragement. There is still different dialogue depending on which familiar you have summoned.

Idk why I get bored at Sims 4 Magic Realm easily despite the better graphics, better animations, and bigger magical attributes. Meanwhile, I only play with the Alchemy table in the Sims 3 and it makes me really happy. I think it's the open world. The lots in the Sims 4 feel restrictive. I can't check my other sims while I'm stuck in the realm of magic.

I was waiting for your video since the sims 4 realm of magic was released, and I don't even like/play sims 4 lol but I love your videos ♥ Also I think ea is making less and less effort with sims 4 eps/gps, I didn't like the new spellcaster clothing or the new world, also that big main building in the magic world look so dull and boring.
I think sims 1, 2 & 3 had better witches, I played a lot with sims 2 witches and I missed the cauldroun and book of magic in sims 3 *ahem* store content *ahem* but sims 3 witches are great too so I guess it's hard for me to decide lol
