- Hello everyone!
This is a brief comparison on the most important aspects of plant sims in the latest 3 Sim games.
Plant Sims were introduced in Sims 2 with seasons as some sort of epidemic if you ask me because your sim becomes one just if they overuse pesticides...quite interesting huh? Their name is pretty self explanatory...They're a plant simulator...And it seems people like them because ever since Sims 2 they've been making a comeback, the most recent was about a month ago when EA gave them as a challenge with the latest patch. Basically you had to talk to plant Sims to get beans to get a portal to look for the forbidden fruit, at least that's what I've seen...But I didn't do the challenge to be honest...Oops? Remember since this is free content it's very short and some say they make a comeback but no one knows for sure.
So anyways, here's the comparison and I hope I didn't let anything important out.
My opinion?
Sims 2: These came with seasons and I like how they made this as some sort of punishment for using pesticides..Although, I can only imagine you have to do this on purpose since you have to use them about 15 times! So a plant Sim is no accident if you ask me...but I like the concept, what I don't like is that their life is SO much shorter than a normal Sim's. But their abilities are good enough and they're fun to control.
Sims 3: This time they came with University and they're some sort of "failed" experiment, this is the introduction of the forbidden fruit and every Sim who dares to eat it will become a plant Sim. I do like their abilities here better than in Sims 2 and I like how they keep their lifespan with 6 stages and 3 unique outfits for Plant Sims.
Sims 4: I guess this one was supposed to be fun because of the challenge but if I were them I would've let the challenge be a thing..forever (the other games kinda had them as a challenge because being a plant sim is not easy). Now the only way to get them is with cheats and they don't get special clothing or special abilities...just special...hair? and needs. It's a little short in comparison to its predecessors but then again it's free. I just hope they take them into consideration for future expansions...maybe in seasons they'll have more interactions or they'll very useful to keep plants alive on a dry summer or something. But one can only hope...
So for me it'd be Sims 3's clothing, lifespan and abilities mixed with Sims 2's interactions and ways to reproduce (I love making babies that easily)

Yet again.. Sims 2 is the backbone for all future sims games it seems, Sims 3 is always the deepest, and Sims 4 is.. uh.. well its pretty at least.

I'm stuck to playing 4 cause my computer can't handle the sims 3 complete, and I can't find a copy of sims 2 which doesn't die when creating or moving in characters. Sad.

iCoNiC well I think it was an event or something. Maybe they do it once a year, but you need to get seeds from NPC plant seeds to get the magic bean pod tree

@@soupesoupeblae That's because they updated it so you can get them through seed packets a while ago. I think you need seasons to get it without using deubbing cheats

It feels like if in ts4 they didn't even put effort into it.
Edit: I see a lot of people saying that it was just a patch. Guys, I know that. I was just referring to the fact that even if the challenge was very complete the plant sims didn't have that much content. They could've, at the very least, given the plant sims some little designs and some cool interactions. That's literally all I'm asking for.
Actually I think they are going to made REAL plant Sims for sims 4,this weren't the real plantsims for Sims 4
But when are those coming? The normal lifespan of a Sims franchise is 5 years and Sims 4 is halfway there and there are only 3 expansions....I'm really starting to think this will have 30 stuff packs 20 game packs and 7 expansions at most! So we have Seasons, Pets, (maybe university even though it hasn't been talked about)...and what else? The Sims 4 is really going slow with expansions
yeah, the sims 4 ones were from a free patch. they might add them in properly later! hopefully, anyway
Ann Just because the 'typical' life span for a Sims game is 5 years doesn't mean that's going to be the way it stays, perhaps EA will spend longer on Sims 4 because they're taking their time with expansion and game packs instead of just pushing them out full of glitches and bugs like they did with The Sims 3.

- The Sims 2 did it’s job introducing them in a unique and creative way
- The Sims 3, THE WINNER. They went all in with new interactions, reproduction and ways to get sun and water

@A It was a timed-event, obviously they weren't going to make it too in-depth, and now you need to use cheats and debug to access it, it wasn't meant to be used after the short event
You can bitch about a lot of things in TS4 sure, even that they didn't actually add plantsims in the game but complaining that it's lazy because it doesn't have much depth...well yeah they weren't going to go all out on an occult that was for an event and you can't use afterwards without debug mode

I miss sims 3. I remember I was always so excited when I got a expansion pack. I was so excited when I got pets, supernatural, into the future, island paridise, and generations! Eventually I got all the expansion packs cause I love sims 3 SO much (I did not get the stuff packs though cause I could never find them at my local target)! I got pets, supernatural, into the future, island paradise, seasons, university, ambitions, late night, showtime, generations, and the one where you could go to China, Egypt, and another place. I used to play sims for hours and hours and my mom hated it because I played on her computer. I watched lets plays on sims even more. My favorite you tuber to watch was life simmer. But now every one plays sims 4 and ignores sims 3☹️. I wish sims 3 was popular again

I got all the expansions, but the only two stuff packs I bought were High End Loft and Town Life; the rest just look like a waste of money. I used to watch LifeSimmer's LPs, but what became of her? She used to upload regularly then just disappeared. Not everyone is playing Sims 4; there are plenty (like me) who still prefer 2&3 and won't even touch 4 with good reason - it's crap! If Sims 5 turns into another lackluster cash grab, it could very well be the one that kills the franchise. There's talk of it being an online game and if that's the case, they can already count me out.
Sims 2 for how they reproduce and Sims 3 for total life cycle. Plantsims in TS4 just suck

Sims 3 was def the best without question, they had way more things to them. Sims 2 was great too, but in sims 3 they improved them. I love that they don't just jump from toddler to adult like in sims 2. I also love how in sims 3 they all have different leaves/clothing depending on age and its fully customizable.
The only thing I liked about sims 3 was that you could choose whatever color you wanted on things

Okay many are not reading the description so: REMEMBER Platsims from Sims 4 were an update, these are the only ones who came for free since in Sims 2 they came with seasons and in Sims 3 they came with university. So let's wait and see if they stay like this or if they later come with an expansion or game pack.

1 year after, still no TRUE plant sims in sims 4. They released the seasons pack but nothing about plant sims.
Btw the fact that you need to cheat to change the color of your character is stupid.
I'm pretty sure the devs said they weren't revisiting plantsims.

While Sims 4 made leaps and bounds towards being a better game, especially with Building and CAS, it has a lot of draw backs. My first issue has always been the non-open world anymore, but I brushed it off for the sake of frame rates vs details (smaller the area, the more details without the frame rate being shit). Aspects of game play have also GREATLY improved but some have stayed the same or got worse.
Whilst I will still fully support the growth of TS4 and EA, I hope to see as more content comes out the game starts to improve (and we get actual plant sims and not this BS, even if it was free)
They were only testing it, so of course it wasn't perfect. I liked it though..
TS4's already been out for like 4 years though, should it really still be having to struggle to improve basic shit like this?
I don't really care if it's open world or not, but I hate that there's no cars and that when you look at a city it's just a picture and you can't change how the city looks yourself, like you can in sims 2 :(
I like the customizing of the open worlds, I liked that part of TS2. Also, we have to be patient for cars because I garateen, if they gave us toddlers they will give us cars. Also, maybe try looking at the good qualities of this game and not negatives. Just advice.
I'm mad at the fact that I can't make moving easy and I have to go to manage worlds to do so and it resets the money from the sim that you split from the family. It sucks so much I don't know how did they even come out with that. My sims son or daughter can't move out having money, they need to move with someone else or with the whole family. It also removes immersion

TS3 plant sims is the most deep of all, but the TS2 hair is the best.
I think either sims 2 or 3 is the winner because I would like to be a plantsim everyday in the game I play instead of only being a plantsim for 5 days in the game.

Yeah, I feel your both your pains! I get forced to "wait" for the features other simmers and I are REALLY looking forward to. However, whenever I see a negative comment about TS4 it can get me down. And the game rushing to get those plantsims made? That's a bummer!

Mathew Sarnaway if only you played other sims games. The sims 4 is fine in all, but is lacking hundreds of features. The biggest one being open world. The sims 4 is one of the worst sims games in the franchise. Though you are pretty young and the sims 4 has a lovable cartoony art style so I genuinely don’t blame you

Ooof -- yeah, Sims 4 really dropped the ball on PlantSims. Imagine if they'd been a proper supernatural life state. . . I actually like the Sims 2 skin pattern the best, though maybe you could have variations of both (and both games' hairs) for customization purposes. Along with variations on all the special outfits. . . Ah well, as you said, they were a free challenge in this game, instead of being designed as a real life state. Still, we could have gotten more to do with them over the five days they were planty!

To be fair ts4 plant sim challenge was a free update, so I feel like they could be improved a lot in a future pack like seasons.

Why weren't the plant sims added to Sims 3 in Seasons expansion, like in the second game? It is the only expansion that makes sense theme-wise, maybe with the exception of Supernatural.
PlantSims came with the University expansion for Sims 3 due to the focus on the skills for Nerd (Science), Jock(Social Networking) and Rebel(Street Art) groups, and the addition of the science lab item that's capable of cloning Sims who have a high enough skill, transmuting one seed to that of another or at least improving / degrading the quality and a few other relatively cool and interesting qualities it can be used for. Could give a background for how the forbidden fruit came to be leading up to the Sims 2 (since in the timeline, Sims 3 takes place 25 years PRIOR to the Sims 2).
Just an idea, though.
In the Sims 4, if a plantsim is in a tiny house residential household (no matter what tier) it will be a plantsim for a longer time due to the happy moodlets lasting twice as long here.

Not really, toddlers were in all of the other basegames and people had been requesting them for 2 years, Plantsims are all in expansions and no one was asking for them (well, not as loud as they did with toddlers anyway lol) so yeah, I agree that had they wanted to make them properly they could've, but they're not comparable to the toddler situation.
I think I like sims 2 and sims 3 way better than sims 4 . I feel like yhu don't need custom content for sims 2 or 3 to make it fun .. sims 4 tho ... I added hella mods , and hella custom content just to make my sims not seem boring .
Sims 3 definitely put the most effort and detail. I loved it.

I never knew there were plant sims in Sims 3. And I been simmer ever since December of 2004. Now that I am back to playing Sims 3 again. After so many months of only playing Sims 4. I am definitely going to try that out. I love how the plant sims look in 3. So I definitely think Sims 3 plant sims are the best.

miga sua loka I can't agree more. I have the sims 2 and 4. Honestly I wanna try 3 I have all the expansions just not the game :3 ik right. But yea sims 2 not must customisation but n't much can be said about the sims 4 . In sims 3 you can clearly see what you can do with the outfits and all the effort put into the game. Sims 4 is just not as great as I thought it would be. But still not much can compare to the huge step with the sims 2 and all I'm trying to say is, I like them all but some more effort has been put into some then others
Sky Dome yes I know that but that just shows how much effort is in it though. I also try to get computers that can handle my needs. So even though I agree that it is annoying about how hard it is to actually get the sims 3 to get its graphics right but I still really love the way the sims 3 moves if you can get it right
Sky Dome I understood that. But I'm saying that so many people are too lazy to do it manually. Like sometimes they can't figure it out but mostly pure laziness. Sims 3 just seems so smooth sometimes but not so much other times. I think that they programmed it so that anyone could play but everything else for basic computers just brings it crashing down. However sims 4 just sucks. :)

I personally like the Sims 2 plantsims the most, because of the way they look, and I just generally like the sims 2 most, so, it's probably bias ;)
While I dont like the look of the sims 3 plantsims, I can agree that they are the most creative version of the plantsims whenever it comes to what they can do.
sims 4 is not a plantsim it is the equivalent of a sonic recolor in terms of quality
Will you remake this once Plantsims get a proper version? i mean the plantsim we got for the sims 4 was literally a temporary challenge mini lifestage, they said they will actually implement plantsims in the future
I doubt it, the devs said so many times when TS4 was in developement that they won't bring the weird shit from the previous games, which has been largely true. Seeing as though they have the code and most animations Ready to go, it's possible, but I wouldn't hold my breath. I feel like if they bring them back it'll be just like how they brought back pimples -> a meaningless Stencil decal. A functional acne you had to apply cream on to & that would flare if you didn't take proper care of your teens was already a thing in THE SIMS 2 BASEGAME. That was 2005. 2017 a non-functional face detail for ts4. Its ridiculous.

I'm very nostalgic for the Sims 2 and I will always have a special feeling for it that makes it more fun to play. But I really cant deny that 3 is superior in gameplay in every way... Sims 4 is garbage though.. I don't see anyone arguing that games any good thankfully.
I feel like the Plant Sim needs to get an upgrade in the Sims 4 when the Cottage Living expansion pack comes out and the Plant Sim becomes a permanent thing

It is actually possible to become a plant sim in Sims 1 as well, there's a charm called Beauty And The Beast charm that can turn your sim into a plant sim for a period of time.

I really can't choose one game between TS2 and TS3 because they're both amazing. TS4 don't have a lot of stuff to do.
In TS3 the plant-sim babies grow like another sims and I like this a lot.
Sims breathe in pesticides and they become Plant Sims. But when I breathe in pesticides I get diagnosed with Bronchitis.
The sims 2 had the most creativeness and uniqueness. The rest of the games are just a copy and paste from the sims 2

1:23 I found a cheat-less, event-less option. But it takes some time.
1. Buy SimPlant trunk
2. Find all eight moodlet beans (Randomly dropping from very rare seed packets)
3. A tree should arise
4. While exploring insides of it, there is a rather high chance a sim will find a forbidden fruit. You can either seed it or eat it. Eating will make your sim a simplant for about 4 sim days.
How weird is it to take care of a Sim who is a plant Sim and a vampire at the same time?
Like they need the sun to survive just like plants do, but the vampire part can be a problem since vampires start to burn immediately when they come into contact with the sun's light.
Of course, no one in their right mind would do such a crazy challenge, especially since the difficulty would be great but not that extreme.
But even so, this challenge would be very difficult.
I loved playing with plantsims in the sims 2 and I've missed them dearly since. The sims 3 plantsims are fun aswell but I found myself playing with them a lot less because of the somewhat un-instinctive matter of becoming one. Now only scientists would have a good shot of becoming plantsims, wich leaves my hippy plantlovers or grumpy old farmers kind of on the out. Plus, I hated the flower trail, so annoying. I really hope they make a more permanent comeback in a comming expansion for the sims 4

I wish, more bossibilities would be added for plant Sims in Sims 4. I would play so much more with them. In Sims 4, I like how they look and in Sims 3, I like the versatile gameplay with them.

Oh, if only the Sims 4 plantsims didn't look so lame. That transformation animation wasn't all too bad. Now, if there was a version of the plantsim in which they could die of hunger and have similar animations to the Sims 4, have similar interactions to that of the Sims 3 including flower trail, and look like they did in the Sims 2, that'd be a cool plantsim. Oh, and plantbabies, bring those back too.

the only good thing about the sims 4 is when you make a spellcaster sim to marry a vampire if one of the parents (spellcaster) has the strong bloodline the children can be born with the vampire trait (or maybe with the spellcaster trait) but all my kids when they grow they can have a dark form and have the same needs as a vampire and always hizzing like them. but as well they can use magic and have a familiar... that's the only good thing, that you can actually mix the supernaturals DNA. and when your vampire sim gets married with an alien the costume of the baby shows like if it was a dark form.
I think the Plant Sims in 2 have the best design, but 3 has better gameplay for them; just more to do. But damn, do I love the little plant on the head in 2.

In sims 4 I got a plant sim after my freegan sim found a forbidden fruit in a dumpster and planted the tree then ate one of the fruits.

Sims 4: how to turn into a plant sim you have to max the gardening skill so you have access to the the rare seed packet and the magic plant sim stump. When you have collected all six seeds then you plant them in the stump and a tree will grow click on the tree and select retrieve the forbidden fruit and then eat it. The sims 4 way is fun and you don’t have to cheat

This is out of date now. You don't need to cheat anymore in Sims 4 to get the Forbidden Fruit of the Plant Sim. They can be found in Rare Seed Packets, along with the 6 emotion beans, unlocked at Lv.10 of the Gardening Skill. The stump for the bean tree can simply be bought in Buy/Build. I think it's in Outdoor Activities if I recall correctly. With the introduction of Scenarios and adding the Plant-a-Sim Scenario, they had to make it available to everyone.

FYI For the Sims 4 you can still get the plantsim beans from rare seed packs, and you can buy the stump.
