1NZ-FE pistons are a good alternative to replacing the stock pistons, seen them running fine @ 1 bar boost or even on a stock tune. It is 75mm so its 1mm oversize from the standard 74mm, fits on the stock rod with very little machining on the wrist pin hole, most important is that it maintains the stock compression of 180psi with the standard 1NZ piston rings in a fresh oversized cylinder. Much better drivability than Vitara pistons that have much lower compression.
@@shedworxxx Well, 1NZ pistons can be found in the Yaris/Echo that use the 1NZ. Its the predecessor engine to the E series family after all. Better to buy new ones instead since they are dirt cheap.
check the valve cover pcv baffles if you havent cleaned them yet, I have a tercel (5efe same engine but stroker) and they were filled with sludge, cleaned them out and car now purrs like no other

the case with athena head gaskets can be solved by drilling and tapping the threads on the block so you can use 4age head studs
