Fire is a survival necessity. The climate is always a challenge when starting a fire. I have a bug out and get home bag in the car. I keep fire starting tools in both. I am going on 71 years of age. Retired army combat vet. My age now is bug in. But, bug out is an option. Great video and wisdom shows with great skills.

Thanks for your serive Pix. I was a submariner from '87-'91. We didn't get much survival training there, or at least on land. I love learnin' from all you fellas! I'm havin' trouble finding good rocks for flint and steel.

I do like the GSI Infinity and Fairshare mugs, they are both solid products and are reasonably priced for products of their type. My Fairshare mug I picked up in early 2021, have at me desk and use it every day, the paint is wore off, the plastic is discoloured and marred and it still does the job and when it stops I will get another given that it has handled nearly daily use for two years I am confident that it will not fail in any situation short of dropping it into a fire.

I grew up doing re-enacting. Flint and steel was the first way of starting a fire that I learned. We never had bics since my family didn't smoke. As I have gotten older I have tried other firestarters and ignition methods, but flint and steel is still a decent method. I still have and use the kit i had 30 years ago, just gotta make more charcloth and add jute twine every once in a while (and I carry jute twine as a cordage anyway).

Maybe a couple of the one inch plastic buckles with extra webbing. You can go fancy and have someone sew the ends in place or go simple like I have and use duct tape.

What canteen cup is that thought it was a pot at first till you made coffee going to have to look for those bags and that coffee cup pretty slick it comes out for measuring. I usually have Spam singles in my bags. What is the trick to getting on the Amazon deal I buy and use so much stuff from there . I should have waited to the end lol. Thanks.

On that blackhawk rig what buckles are they using? You could probably easily make an extension strap if you can find the same buckles, I tried to figure it out but the pictures I saw was front view only.

Bugging out is a combined set of ideologies without a regular practice of skills like trapping , shelter , fire and water purification along wild edibles and homeopathic medicine emergency first aid and care ...your days would be numbered , bugging out is not ideal unless you have the ability to self sustain at all cost.

Love your videos, but it pains me to watch you and other TH-camrs using flint and even ferrorods without eye protection.
    Think about it.
