I don't know about the rest of the issues, but vertical filming is ALWAYS the problem. It should never be done. Congrats on the successful cat flap. Part 1 made me laugh so hard. Thanks for sharing.
Lock, meh. It defeats most of its value to me. If you're constantly locking/unlocking or checking the "state" of the cat door you might as well just let the cat in and out. Besides, in my area this door would admit lots of other critters too - snakes, mice, moles (yes, one got in recently), cats other than my own or the small dogs living on either side of me, etc. In fact, smaller raccoons can squeeze through surprisingly small openings, and I wouldn't be surprised if one of the cheeky bluejays that snatch food from my cat might not even give it a go. They ripped off the grocer for bags of chips on racks just inside the door so often he had to move the racks.
Would you mind sharing the model of the cat door? I have a long window like that and didn't think I would be able to install a cat door, but now I see it's possible!! :)
i have a friend whose cat enjoys being outside in the garden most of the day ... but begs to be let inside so he can pee in his litterbox. drives my friend batty.
The first video was definitely funnier! Thought this was gonna be the inside view of him opening the big door. Did you have to lock it to get Philo to use the cat door?

The cat finally learned to use the cat door and the human finally learned to record video horizontally. Wins all around.
You also learned not to record the video vertically. So the cat wasn't the only one who learned something from last video. :P
a good human takes advice from other humans and so he did.. bam! magic the cat did it :D

You should have tried sticking your hand with some kitty treats through the cat flap, that would probably have gotten the message across faster.
You do realize more animals can use that flap than just your cat. Snakes, raccoons, etc.
