Hey Jon. To be frank, I wouldn’t. In all our years doing lights, we have only wrapped one chimney. It looked ok but it took away from all the clean lines of the house itself. We did it with minis so it was an obvious change of pattern. You could do it with hot glue and c9 bulbs but you would have to go back on the roof 3 or 4 times during the season to glue a few bulbs back up.

If using a 15 Amp 120v circuit, which is very common in the US, you can run a bunch of c9 led lights before ever hitting the limits of that circuit. Calculating at only 80% load, for safety, you could theoretically use about 1,900 bulbs and still be safe.

The most important thing is that you stay on the roof. Home Depot sells some shoe covers cheaper than cougar paws called Korkers but I’ve never used them so I can’t recommend. Hey Martin. Www.lawnandlight.com
Hey Shane, thanks again for another great video! I have one question about those male and female connectors. Thank you for detailing that for the inline female type connection, polarity is important and we want to align the big plug slot pin with the wire that has writing. Pardon my ignorance but...does it also matter when we are installing male connectors that we also note the polarity and install accordingly?
yes, same concept - we found a better method the other day. Look at the male or female plug. theres writing on one side - the ribbed part of the wire goes on the plug writing side (male or female)
Hello, I just tried to go to your website, and it was closed or not working? I own a lawn care business that I just started in April this year I am doing Christmas lights as a service. I watched your videos and learned a lot. I am not sure what to charge. Any Ideas or thoughts on what to charge? I have heard everything from $5 to $8 dollars a foot to $30 for each strand. So, I would appreciate any advice. I am really good at marketing and have actually just sold a job to a big house in a fancy neighborhood. Thanks chad
Hey Chad. Glad to hear they helped. Thanks for being here. We have coaching classes where you and I can work on business questions such as that. If your interested just send a message through our website to get started. Www.lawnandlight.com
How about a chimney instead of dormers. Would you outline it?
Can you just buy the clips from your website ?
No mam. At the time we only have the option to purchase kits. Working on more options for next year
Awesome video, thank you for sharing! I have a question for you.. what size lamp wire would you recommend using?
Thanks Brandy. Appreciate you being here. Spt1.
@@lawnandlight Thank you 😁
In my garage at this very moment I have about $350 worth of lights and all the other materials…today is the day I put the 4 hours I’ve spent watching and rewatching these videos to use…I’m pretty nervous. Haha
Hey Tex. Good luck sir. You got this!
@@lawnandlight I appreciate the vote of confidence! Gonna send ya before/after pics!
Came across your video which gave good information and was helpful.... never knew you can install a female in-line connector.... I went through the video several times and did not find any talk about the maximum number of strands or light you can plug into one power source... my house has 110 volt outlets with 400 feet of roof I want to install lights.... will one continuous strands of lights work?
Hey David. Glad it helped. 400’ would be no problem. Preferably you would put it on a dedicated breaker. recommend confirming that with your electrician.
@@lawnandlight I was told you can put 1000 C9 LED's on a lamp cord. Do the math yourself always. I do lights and we have had no problem with up to 450. No job has had more than that length to date
Great video! First time home owner here, you showed me everything I needed to know, I am missing one thing tho, I’ve seen on other videos there’s only so much feet you can plug into one outlet, I was hoping you’d go over it here maybe it’s in another one of your videos but can you help me understand how much feet of line I can plug into one outlet? Seems like in this video you plugged everything into the same lines so it would’ve all got plugged into one outlet right ? Am I missing something, thanks for your help in advance
Hey Joan. Thanks for being here. Some people will tell you 250’ is the max for LEDs. If you want to stick with that you’ll be safe. However, that’s really a question for a licensed electrician and one that us Christmas light installers don’t touch on much due to many varying factors.
@@lawnandlight thank you for your quick reply!! I used your measure method on google maps and the front of my house was only 130 feet! I just placed an order today from your online shop!!! Super excited to put these on when they get here, thanks for the extra 15% off
@@joans7264 our pleasure Joan. Although it’s usually just my face in the videos, we have a big family/team effort to make everything work. I don’t thank them publicly enough but we have the best people. And thank you so much for trusting us with your order. We really appreciate it!
If using a 15 Amp 120v circuit, which is very common in the US, you can run a bunch of c9 led lights before ever hitting the limits of that circuit. Calculating at only 80% load, for safety, you could theoretically use about 1,900 bulbs and still be safe.
What size bulbs do you sell on the website c9 or c7?
C9s
Possibly a dumb question…. First time seriously decorating for Christmas. I have a bunch of big box store bought strings that I’ll use. Can I use the vampire plugs on store bought strings?
Not dumb. Most likely no. Most big box stores sell 3 wire lights. Commercial lights are 2 wire
@@lawnandlight so theoretically if it were two wire it would work?
The site isn’t working. How do we purchase?
Hey Christina. It’s working now.
That’s a great microphone
I agree…and very reasonably priced as well
Are your lights LED or Incandescent?
LED
if I need 150 feet, would you say 1 100ft & 1 50ft is better or multiple 17 ft strings? I'm just worried if the 100ft goes bad, I'll need to take it down. I'm not trying to spend too much money this year on lights, but I'm still doing research on deciding on which route to take.
Other than that very informative video! You inspired me.
Hey Joseph. We always recommend our kits over big box stores. The quality difference is substantial. However, I do understand that there is also a pretty significant price difference.
Thanks for watching.
Have been binging your xmas videos. As a diy’er what tools would you recommend for getting on a steep roof?
The most important thing is that you stay on the roof. Home Depot sells some shoe covers cheaper than cougar paws called Korkers but I’ve never used them so I can’t recommend. If that’s not an option - soft soled tennis shoes. Other than that, an old pair of jeans, cutters and a lot of caution. Stay in the valleys and on peaks.
Goat ladder and cougar paws
@@precisionturf8266 good call there PT
I’d recommend a little brother. 😂
