    "The Su-baru For-ester"??????? Something that this video completely drops the ball on for both the Subaru Forester & Outback: outward visibility. There are very few cars that even meet the wide open level of visibility for drivers in these vehicles. Some of the other SUVs mentioned in this video absolutely suck for driver visibility - in some, it's like driving a low profile tank, and with wide "A" pillars.

    Our Outback and Forester are the first vehicles that we don’t have to fold Athena rear seats when putting my dad’s wheelchair in the rear while taking him around. This is Huge for us.
    The front and rear heated seats, heated steering wheel is great too. All 4 doors open wide to entry and exit is a breeze.

      But we avoid our local Subaru dealership as they are crooks, so we take both of our Subie’s to our mechanic who works exclusively on Subaru products.
      In our area alone about 35-40% of the vehicles on the road are Subaru’s.
      Most Subaru owners take their Subie’s to our mechanic as well.
      Most of the Subaru’s in our area are bought from other dealers in Spokane, Seattle area, Yakima, anywhere but Cascade Subaru in Wenatchee, Washington

    With the current price of automobiles I don’t know any seniors on a fixed income can afford these overpriced vehicles let alone fill the tank. Most vehicles worth buying has the safety features outlined here. An all wheel SUV is nice to have if winter driving is in a senior’s mind but most of the ones I know won’t venture out in bad days.

      Sadly with the shortage of computer chips and new cars, buyers have rushed out to buy and paid insane amounts over sticker price, we used to get good deals, not anymore, and with some brands in short supply its a take it or leave it by some dealers. With dealers charging well over sticker the car makers will be willing to up their prices as they want some of that easy money.

    Your prices are not realistic. They may start there, but you'd better add $6,000 to %10,000 to bring your numbers into the real world. You should also mention that these cars are still at low supplies causing the dealers to refuse to negotiate on price, and in many cases there is a 12 to 18 month waiting list for the cars.

    • @auto_exclusive
      @auto_exclusive  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      When making videos on TH-cam you have to really think about what's interesting and important enough to include in a video that will be watched for 2, 3 or even more years. TH-cam is unforgiving...every second of watch time matters so if you include too much detail and nuance and people lose interest, then you're just shooting yourself in the foot as the algorithm is less likely to push your video.
      You're right, the prices I use are base prices from the mfg's website and may not be what people see out in the market but there are some dealers that are selling at MSRP, there are regional differences and dealer prices can change relatively quick...but the video itself can't change. It's a judgment call but I've always come back to starting prices are the only prices that really make sense to include.

    I am surprised the Hyundai Tucson is on the list! It may offer a lot which seniors like, but as a senior who drives an SUV myself the Tucson is a hazard on the road!. I hate being behind one of these vehicles. For some unknown reason when safety laws require rear brake light visibility above the waist line of the car, Hyundai have the turn signals in the rear bumper. When your in a high vehicle yourself even with safe distance with the turn signals well below visibility level I am surprised it hasn't been banned for safety reasons. I despise the thing and having to drive behind one, because even with caution they are a safety hazard and surprise many drivers behind with late use turn signals.

      One reason I turn my Kia Soul directionals on early is its excellent blind spot detection. And of course its directionals are well above the bumpers as well. The Soul also has one other gigantic plus and that's ease of egress... a LOT easier than the RAV4 for example. Uhh... stay well back from the vehicle in front of you most drivers don't even know what that directional stalk is for.

I traded our Chevy Cruze for a 2022 Buick encore gx select..has the same features as some of these mentioned, but looks a bit better and the interior seemed better than some of these listed. So far no problems getting right at 30 mpg, quiet on the highway at 70 mph rides well, even loaded our new 65' inch tv in back with the seats folded!!!! I bought it used for 23K, the sticker new was $29K as it had 6K miles on it and got a good trade of 9K on the cruze. Nice thing is I can see all the way around in the Buick no real blind spots!!!! Reliability issues especially from their CVT transmission models. I used to own a Pathfinder and immediately regret the purchase that I let go of it in under a year. I love Nissan and Infiniti brands till the brand’s failure to update their vehicles that it becomes hard to justify when there are a lot of other options outside of the Nissan brand that provides more for about the same price or less. I currently still own my last Nissan in the form of an Infiniti QX60 and will definitely replace it with something else when it’s time to refresh.

    Doesn't the RAV4 have interior noise issues? Mazda's are the vehicles with best value. The rest-MEH

    • @auto_exclusive
      @auto_exclusive  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, Consumer Reports does give the RAV4 a 2 out of 5 for interior cabin noise and it's an issue that is sometimes brought up as a shortcoming of the RAV4. At the same time, it can't be too big of an issue as the RAV4 continually is one of the top-selling SUVs (if not the top selling) in the country.

    My wife and I retired retired when we turned 70. Allowing us to eliminate the mortgage, add extra savings and take additional vacations. Our combined Social Security is above $7300 a month and with our increased pensions we have no problems making car payments. We could not be in this position if we had taken the so called “traditional “ advice of taking Social Security as soon as we could qualify for it.

    IT'S BOUND TO HAPPEN.......Every. Single. Time. we put out a senior-oriented video I get told in the comments that seniors don't need larger SUVs...they only want (or need) sub-compact or compact SUVS. I feel like this pigeonholes seniors in a way that isn't done to other generations. So tell me...how old are you and what do you drive...or want to drive?
