    Hey Guys,
    Two things.
    Firstly sorry for a little crackle on the audio between 2:40-5ish… I thinks it’s a wire and I’ll sort it, sorry if it’s in the next 2 videos ish 🙈
    Secondly, Do you think that is a good place for a brush and where would you put one of the other side?
    Also… hope you enjoyed the video ☺️

    • @russ3400
      @russ3400 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Keep it near a tank that you can scrap into easily as a-lot of cows will congregate around it and it could get mucky. Ours are on a scarper passage so the scraper passes by a few times a day and keeps is clean around the brush. Cool video by the way. :)

      @joycefuller9177 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Have you seen brushes set at a 90 degree angle? I saw it on Hoof GP video. Cows loved them.

    • @Michael-8903
      @Michael-8903 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you go for electric brushes, I recommend two cow lengths so they can go back and forth. In your layout, I would place them in the alleys where the cows eat by the side of the cubicles. If you are going to use a scraper tractor and they maby are in the way put them in the passage without the water trough

    I had my suspicions that Mark was a true professional the moment he started to explain how he buffs the concrete by his manner of speech and the passion that just shone. Then, came the evidence. Spending all that time working on a finish and only stopping when it reached his high standards. The 'smoothness test' with that ball at the end was mind blowing.

    What a beautiful wash pit cover! We had one at my old employer that was made of old railroad rails that was strong enough to hold a small navy ship, but was so heavy it took our two biggest pieces of lifting equipment to move it , and we had no “man hatch” for maintenance access.
    Another example of quality work on your farm.

  • @BauerHermann1811

    If the concrete finish isnt smoth and shiny enough for your likings Tom, you can still put Epoxy resin on the sides of the feeding alley thats for sure shiny and will stay quite clean. here in germany most of the new sheds have it, if not they put tiles there instead. What i can say from experience on our farm is, that the acids in the silage will at some point "eat" trough the smoth finish and make the concrete really rough.
    Anyways, very nice video, i like how your farm is progressing more and more to what you like, and the ginger guy with the moustache seems to be very supportive with most things you do ;)

    Great watching the project progressing and the quality workmanship, didn’t realise that cows were happier eating off a shiny plate like surface but it makes perfect sense. When you were explaining that the edge of the trough wasn’t as shiny as you had hoped I seen on another TH-cam channel, 10th Generation Dairyman the edges of his feed troughs are all finished with ceramic floor tiles, they look to work really well and always look clean.

    I understand Tom’s frustration in needing/ wanting the concrete buffing to the edge as that’s where the cows will be eating. Doesn’t matter how smooth it is in The middle as they’ll be driving on it.
    My mates farm in Oz had the exact same issue, they ended up tiling out from the edge so the cows were eating off porcelain. It did increase their feed consumption as well.
