    The problem with learning Yngwie licks is that you can't play them without sounding like him.
    You can't apply them to anything because you'll immediately sound like him. That's a sign of a great guitar player.
    Btw If you listen tender surrender by Steve Vai you can hear a lick that he clearly took from Yngwie.
    If you know the song you know what I mean.

    Great video as usual! How about more VH? Like, say, repeating patterns a la Panama and When It's Love, which seem to be go to patterns. I find the picking pattern hard to get. And how does he get the notes so clear and articulated? Robert only you can make this understandable.

    • @herehere3139
      @herehere3139 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can speak about the alternate picking from experience, I had to go back to the basics of holding my pick correctly for it, which I wish I post a picture of it for you, basically if you are holding your pick (you may already hold it like this, or similar) and you're looking down at the top of your thumb and the nail is looking back at you.. flatly.. the pick needs to be sticking out from your thumb pointing like a 90 degree angle. Now this may not be necessary for some but ok. The picking movement itself, needs to come like 98 percent from the wrist. No forearm driving the picking. Now there's a lot to say about the fretting hand, and I'll just say make sure you're not lifting your fingers far off the fretboard in-between notes, and keep the fingers of the notes you've already played planted until you go back to them ect, not in every case, but still important. It's hard to describe and and I'm sorry if this is gibberish or something Lol. But like I said, last year I got a very very good teacher and took myself back to the ABCs of it and reprogrammed my entire playing. Get the metronome going at a comfortable spread and trem pick your tail off for days and hours on end slowly building up your scale patterns. Strictly alternate picking with no economy.. yet.. if you build on your alternate picking to this degree, economy picking isn't really necessary.. not for all of course! And there are tons of licks that definitely implement economy in various forms. But it's all about that strict alternate picking practice. And I mean strict, and maddening. I kept finding myself extremely pissed off. But I would sleep, go back to it, and my brain would have made the muscle memory pathway just a liiiiitle bit better. And that kept me going until now I'm shredding and it's muscle memory. I've seen it said to be like riding a bike too. But you have to do the strict alternate picking practice. Slight angle on the pick. Although for me now, I can flat pick alternate pick basically just as easy, and sometimes I want that extra bite on my picking. So... I genuinely hope something out of that was helpful random person Lol
