Kawasaki is still keeping the traditional 4 cylinder engine which I love and their engines are always robust. Reliability is not an issue. Coming from owning Japanese and Euro bikes.
I've had a '22 Z900 for a year and a half. Never have I noticed a snatchy throttle, Smooth transition on and off. This is the torquiest 4 banger I've owned. The other night, came to a rural stop sign, left it 5th gear and took off and chuckled. Even without brembos. it stops as well as my 900RS. The only complaint is the pillion seat, which I remove and put on an H&B Sportrack. All in all, after 10k miles, I love this bike. The last one I'll get rid of.
hey thanks for the review, @4:15 when you talk abt "compromise " and you mention the bike is "a bit more firm in the back" since the rear shock is fully adjustable you can adjust it to your liking. Thats the main thing of having a fully adjustable shock - it can be that you need a different spring but that is a different story. In any case having an adjustable ohlins in the rear i would guess that there is a lot of play room available.
Best bike for the money, 0-60mph 3.1 secs 210kg....a joy to ride. Put some Mich Road5 on an away you go for 11000 miles. Front brake pads......i've changed a few (alot).
@@TrustyZ900 I'm not too much of a brand snob. I've also been to a ton of demo events over the years riding most things, no matter the genre or engine size.
I hope its nice as ive just bought the bike that you made the video on! Lol. I'm moving up from a Z650. First thing I'm doing is getting the Dunlops off and Road 6 on. Taking delivery in a week or so...cant wait!
I had a Z900 2022 for a bit and I’ll be honest, I liked it a lot for the power. But the tires they put on those things are absolute garbage. Now I’m sure the SE comes with better tires but the standard version has trash dunlops and the traction is not good at all
I have a 2019 Z900 and I rode the Dunlop’s for two years. When I finally changed to Michelin Road 5s it was like a completely different motorcycle. I could not believe the difference it made in handling and overall performance.
I test rode the z900 a few weeks ago. Although the handling was very confident and the engine power was more than enough for me, I just couldn't get used to the on/off throttle response. It really started to bother me. Way too nervous. I was used to an old-fashioned throttle lever with throttle cable instead of drive by wire. Although I wonder if all motorcycles equipped with this system have the on/off throttle response.
Don't think the wire drive is a good idea I'm thinking of the 900 rs kaw good reports from people with 40,000 mi only oil change and tires and it has that retro look and feal of the old bikes and you can see the moter with out panels to ever have to take off and with 110 hp 0 to 60 3 sec is fast enough I would think the dals on the 900 rs would last forever and don't really trust the z900 computer set up sence people have said it gets stuck in certain modes 😐
it's not the kind of throttle control they use, it's the fuel/ignition mapping... this is not new w/ kawasaki, they shut off the fuel on close throttle on models going back 2 decades. it takes a bit to get used to it and adjusting the throttle play helps a lot. imagine their larger v-twins that have lots of torque at v low rpms..
If you've tried other brands and bikes in the last 10 years or so, this is a common complaint by a lot of people. It's not that the manufacturer doesn't have the resources or the understanding to make an engine's fueling absolutely perfect, it's that a manufacturer has to comply with Euro5 and noise regulations and by so doing, these undesirable traits are what customers get. The only solution is getting an ECU flash aftermarket. The EPA mandates fuel injectors shut totally off when the throttle is closed. No carburetor ever did that, no fuel injection system prior to about Euro3 did that. There's always going to be a delay between injection off and on, a whetted intake tract vs. dry, and the lash between the engine and transmission, the transmission and drive chain, the final drive and the cush drive and finally the cush drive and the tire on the road. Get an ECU flash and find how superbly smooth, perfectly fueled, and easily controllable modern fuel injection can be if not hampered by the dumb EuroCrats.
Duke 890 R > Street Triple 765 RS > MT-09 SP > Ducati Monster > Z900 SE... Z900 is the heaviest, the cheapest, the worst suspension, worst brakes, worst tech. Z900 is beautiful, unfortunately not the best option imho.
That's all personal preference. I'm selling my 23 MT09SP this week. Terrible seat and super stiff suspension even after having sag and everything professionally adjusted. I guess the 3 cylinder doesn't impress me because I weigh 218 lbs and have had a lot of liter bikes. A friend has a SP as well and feels the same. The 890R is super light and great a flicking through a bunch of curves, but the looks. I would probably pick an older 1290R over that. Street Triple is a very high strung engine to compete HP wise, so you have to enjoy winding it out all the time. Check out the 25 Z900SE. It adds everything that's missing.
All of those bikes are good for small people. For anyone who is 5 .10 to 6 - this is common height these bikes are too small, and definitely not for riding with pillion. Welcome to real world where economy has priority. That is why most bikes are going to sell to the Asian market and this is why bikes are designed for that market.
See slight problem I'm sure a triumph 765 puts out close to 120hp so then comes the question why buy this Triumph has braided lines, brembo brakes front n rear and master cyl, and ohlins front and rear also. So the spec is there and the power is close with smaller displacement also lighter too also same applies to the Mt09 the street triple is quicker even though the mt is a 800+ cc Mt09 sounds amazing though. Admittedly im trying to choose I thinking either BMW s1000r gen2 Triumph 765rs but I'd want more power so it would have to be the 1200rs (quite a bit more pricey than the others)
Nice bike but theirs no way my girlfriend can ride on the back and a person with 10,000 mi on his z 900 said it kept getting stuck in rain mode and he had to keep taking it back to get it fixed😐

I would have to go with the 900 rs simple no farring to take off ,moter exposed to see ,retro look and feal, it has every thing I would want and then some and the good reports from people that have one it's bullet proof 🧝⚡🌴🦉
Wheelbase is way to short and looks like a 600 bcse of it, plus the front wheel comes up way to easily bcse of the short wheelbase . It just doesn’t make sense as a naked bike

Great review, just subscribed. Cruise control?
Thanks! Unfortunately cable throttle doesn't allow it, but there are some workarounds 👍
how comfortable for a bigger distance like 400km per day ?
It's doable but you're gonna need a proper touring windshield
Taller comfort seat. Butt padding, less folded up knee angle, a slightly more attack-angle to the wind.
Are you buying a bike for its first set of tires?
Quickshifter up/down and cruise control. Done. I wouldn't even consider the others.
I'm surprised you're still a fan of the Z. You sold yours a while back. Dig mine.

Do a long burn out. Install new tires. Solved.
Tires are no big deal. Disparage a super cool bike because of it's tires?
Honestly never really sure why manufacturers want to showcase a motorcycle by installing 'plastic' tires. Politics I guess.
