Small Project. Im recreating a George Nelson bookshelf. I have some 40mm black extruded aluminum posts and wanted a walnut look for the shelves. Im using red oak stair treads as the shelves and need to get them to look like walnut. Great vid. Thanks!
I just did this technique on oak barstools, but the provincial made the color darker than I wanted to achieve. The rust oleum gloss leather was almost a perfect match and I was surprised that it didn’t have a glossy finish. Thank you for the upload!
The finished color is Excellent! I have used paint under stain before with good results, but this is such a great walnut color with your technique and products used. Thanks.
I’m doing a vertical slat accent wall behind the tv in walnut color. It’s too expensive to buy the veneer, so I decided to do the project myself. Thanks, great tip.
I will have to give this a try. I have walnut cabinets and we were hoping to use walnut trim but man!!! the dollars! So someone suggested we use alder or another similar grain wood and stain it to match the cabinets. I will give this a try. Any other tips or other wood choices let me know!!! Thanks.

This process is exactly what I was looking for, thanks!
Have been looking FOREVER for a real light walnut color result. Thank you!
Kitchen cabinets comin up!
Barrister bookcase top. Was having trouble getting it dark enough with just stain, would have never thought of using paint under to seal and darken.
Painted. Painted!? Looks great! I'm scared! What would this have looked like if the paint was not used but just the provincial?
I'm working on upcycling a TV cabinet and came across your video! Super helpful and can't wait to try this out :)
That's awesome I hope it turns out great for you.

Any tips for staining obeche?
Great idea, came out well. What finish did you use?
Solid oak corner cabinet, about 6' high. Going darker. The large areas are a pain!!! Any tips, tricks or help is appreciated! Thanks for the video.
Thinking of doing a desk using something like this method
Bought some walnut barstools very cheap and sanded down oak barstools that I’m trying to match. Hoping mine look as good as yours!
going to try this on making an oak epoxy table.
I want to change Ikea poang orange oak chair to dark walnut. Can I follow these steps?
Hello :) thank you for the great idea. What finish did you use?
Iben from Denmark ☺️
Hi! What if your oak piece of furniture is already finished? Can you achieve a walnut like color without sanding it? Thank u

Honey oak bathroom vanity cabinets
how is it working? I'm looking at kitchen cabinets!
I wouldn't have thought to use paint to stain wood.
I'm doing this to an oak kitchen table and chairs
I would like to do this to the top of an old oak table. Did you apply some sort of primer to the stools first? Is that why they are whitish?
No primer, I just sanded them. You could take a damp rag and wipe the wood before staining to help open the pores of the wood grain
@@samsupholstery8499 Were these white oak? Do you think this same look can be achieved using red oak or would you adjust the process in some way?
Trying this on a vanity where I have two different woods. 😭
How did it go?
Was this Red Oak or White Oak?
I'm doing my sons bunk beds smh wish me luck
